“The Great Herd of Clarence Tillenius” is the official title of this magnificent mural at 1881 Portage Avenue.

Painted in 2005, it is a tribute to the Manitoba Artist: Clarence Tillenius. Clarence received the “Order Of Canada” the same week that the mural was unveiled.

Winnipeg celebrates Canada’s Icelandic settlers, the first arriving in 1873-75, in this gorgeous mural.

As mentioned in the above Saga, Charlie Thorson, “Cartoon Charlie” second generation Canadian, became a famous animator responsible for many characters, including “Bugs Bunny”.
A new Comic Book Shop opened in the hood, and this mural has appeared on the side of it.
It’s signed – Troy Love Gates …B5M and Thanks Kwest (like the best graf writer … maybe ever) .. Kirk … Simon and the rest disappear behind signage & trash.
Not sure if the Thanks are for helping him paint it, or for their inspiration. The store was closed, so I didn’t go in and ask.
They seem to sell comic books and comic book toys. I saw lots of neat stuff in the window. I couldn’t tell what might be vintage or a re-pro.
