Pathways to Illumination

Christy Birmingham of Poetic Parfait fame wrote this book of poems.

Yet, it’s more than a collection of poetry. It is clearly a journey, a journey that begins in pain.

Path #1

As she took me along her travails using metaphor to an exquisite height, I became enlightened. The rhythms of her near and not rhymes rocked me in their arms.

Her pondering did not pander. Rather, I looked out upon her reality with a gentle concern .

In the end, I was rewarded with the sense of being freely born, and although not into a perfect ending, into a sense of dignity, positive energy and wisdom.

The final poem in Christy’s book is titled “What If”. Therefore, I ask, “what if you read it?” Well, if you do, you will be inspired, too!

  2. You are so sweet, Resa! Thank you for the lovely and uniquely art-oriented review here. I enjoyed your description of your experience with the book – particularly about the positive energy of the ending, as that really was my goal to convey that feeling with the book. Thanks for truly making my day brighter!

    1. That I have made someone’s day brighter means a lot to me.
I really enjoyed reading Pathways to Illumination! It was a true journey, and I am very happy where it left me, what it made me think and feel.
I know you are working on another book, and I am looking forward to reading it!

  3. I have read and it is without a doubt, a truly inspiring and enlightening journey of the soul. Real words of reflection, healing, and discovery. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much dear Aquileana! Your compliments and appreciation mean a lot to me. You and your blog have set a high standard.
      Cheers! ⭐ ⭐

  4. Resa .. .this is an outstanding review … but I’m unsure … I’ve got the feeling you incorporated your pics with your thoughts … that’s also saying the pics were not part of the book. Right or wrong?

    1. You are right, Frank!
I’m not a reviewer, per se, but when I asked Christy if I could do a review in my own way with a few words and some street art, she said “Yes!”
It was one of the most satisfying posts I have done on GLaM.
Also, I feel so very complimented by your use of the word “outstanding”,.
      Thank you so much!

        1. 🙂
Opinion (as you are so good at them) Do you think I should do more book reviews in my creative way? Maybe one every 6 or so weeks?

  5. There couldn’t have been a better compliment for Christy and her book! The review is as illuminating as the book seems. Love that art work, which is adding so much value and aesthetic sense to this review. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you so much, Balroop!
Christy’s book inspired me to review it, and as I am not a reviewer, per se,
I came up with this approach. Christy approved the idea. This has been a very satisfying post to publish. I might try another review in the future. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

    1. So glad you enjoyed my creative approach to the review!
It seems I can say things better with the accompaniment of street art than I can in words alone.
      Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
