I ♥ Banksy – because of “My Month With Banksy: October 2013 In NYC” by Jacqueline Hadel – Plato

What is that?

It’s “MY MONTH WITH BANKSY: OCTOBER 2013 IN NYC” by: Jacqueline Hadel. If you’re a fan or lover, it’s a must buy  Here On Amazon

After reading Jacqueline’s book, I did some research. Banksy had been (unofficially)  in Toronto in 2010. Sadly only 1 of 7 pieces remains, and it’s in this gated private parking.

Banksy #1b

As I peered through the chain link, I saw the Banksy had been covered in plexiglass, and bordered with steel and rivets.

Banksy #2

Also noticeable was that someone had attempted to pry the metal border away. (lower right)

Banksy #6b

The plastic has been tagged, cleaned, tagged with scratchiti , and then more paint. Nonetheless, it survives!

Banksy #4b

The other 6 Banksy’s were tagged to death, torn down, painted over…one (on the back of a sign) just disappeared.

Banksy #5b

Aww, the gate was unlocked, so I just went in for a few shots of the Banksy w/ Jacqueline’s book.

Banksy #10

The book is like a diary, going day by day through her month with Banksy.

Rose & Red Stag

In the beautiful, inspiring and fun Ossington alley running North from Queen West, every garage door, space in between and back of the building is painted.

R&Stag #1

I start with the IPhone panorama shot, rose centered, to minimize the effect of a giant red tag on the gorgeous rose. The Stag garage is on the rose’s left as you look at your screen.

R&Stag #2

This shot looks South to Queen W. Behind me, the miles of painted alleys run all the way to Bloor Street.

R&Stag #3

Yes, there are a lot of tags. In the summer, many artists will return to touch up their tagged pieces.

I searched what to call a male deer. It said “Buck” for North America, and “Stag” for Europe, especially when referring to the Red Deer.

R&Stag #10

Amy Pinkrose popped into my mind when I saw the rose. Her flowers are beauties that spring from the dark earth. This rose is a flower that has sprung forth from the dark grey of dirt and garbage in a very urban alley.

Even Teenage Vampires Cry

In the alley just North of Queen W. between Ossington and Gladstone, I found this sweet face trying to be scary.

20″ x 40″ (at the most and a rough estimate, as well). It’s like… felt pen, or acrylic (there are acrylic markers) on fake wood veneer…. or??

As you see, it is nailed onto an old, dry wood fence.

Brick, Butterflies & Flowers

South of Bloor and Ossington, I thought “I”ll just peek into this alley”.

Flowins #1

I got that neat feeling….  I’ve discovered something.

Flowins #2

I think it’s an Urban version of things rooted in the beauty of nature.

Flowins #3

Slideshow of out-takes. This mural was either painted by “Tokyo” or merely tagged “Tokyo”
