It is my glory to have received a guest submission from the artist, Mike Johnston.

The first 6 pieces of art shown in this article were all painted during the summer of 2016 in Winnipeg.

I asked Mike to tell me a bit about himself.
♢

I, for one, am thrilled Mike has come out of hibernation. His work is eye-catching, totally gorgeous and the details are mesmerizing.

I asked Mike about this very interesting work of art, shown in the above photo, and next 2 shots.
Artist: Mike Johnston – Photo © Mike Johnston
Mike: “The mural with the panels was a painting i put up at a recent art show. The blank spaces are the paintings that came from the installation.”
I love it!

The following shots are some earlier examples of Mike’s work.

You can visit Mike on his Website www.murdersnest.com .. where, if you’re in need of some gorgeous art on your building or on your body, he has a Contact Page.

Below, is Lester. This was one of the very first pieces of Street Art I ever encountered in Winnipeg. However, Lester was seriously obscured by industrial trash bins. Two years later, I returned, only to find a good portion of this amazing work had eroded due to the harsh Winnipeg Winters.
Mike, thank you for this pic!

Cheers to you for involving an artist here. A toast … clink!
Awesome color palate for a brilliant style. I can see how can his tattoo art in his work.
Thank you, Frank! I would love to involve more artists. It was a fortunate situation that Mike found my blog, and offered up his Art & photos.
I love the influence of tattoo art in street art. It is interesting, now, to see the influence of Street Art in the fine art galleries in Toronto.
Oh yeah…. double clink!!!
Oh so gorgeous!
Agree….. and if I ever get a tattoo, I know who will do it!
Eye popping works.
I love Mike’s style! I see, how over time, he has fused his tattoo art with his Street Art. It is a wonderful thing!
A fine presentation. Hats off to you, and to the artist of course. What blues!
Big blues, big time!! Love to you, Bumba! 😀
Hello dear Resa 🙂
I do love the photo of the sleeping Angel and the other one of the cat. What a brilliant artist.
Got to go and feed my cats before they tear my legs to pieces. lol.
Take care dear friend especially down those dark and dismal alleys.
Love and big hug. Ralph xoxox ❤ #<
Mike is an amazing artist!
Perhaps you need a tattoo of S&S on your legs? …. for protection.
I am afraid of many, many things, but I love back alleys. Go figure!
Live and hugs, Resa…xoxo <# ❤
What a scoop! Congratulations! 🙂

Aww, thank you, Carolyn! 😀 Mike is very talented & I am honored he contacted me! xoxoxo
What a great post!! I think it’s awesome you get to work directly with the artist. He’s very talented and I look forward to seeing more of his work in the city.
I haven’t seen a few of the pieces. I know Lester of course 😀 and These Eyes/Body Sugar because I took you to them. I see one, maybe two of them are on top of buildings but do you know what area of the city the first three are in? I can’t believe we would have missed them.
It has been a wonderful time doing this post with Mike! I’m hoping to meet him next time I come to Winnipeg. I almost feel like getting a tat.
I’ll ask Mike where those murals on top of buildings are. I’m curious myself, as I did not see the on the Murals of Winnipeg site.
😀 Do you remember the small roses mural on Corydon? It’s very pretty, 2 roses. It was the day you took me out to find the Niel Young Mural.
Anyway, the Roses are a Mike Johnston! I’m hoping to post it for Valentines Day. ⭐ ❤ ⭐
I love the murals, they are beautiful !!!
I think it is very interesting to meet the artist who is behind the works, well done dear Resa, a great post.

I’m very happy you like this, Charlie! Like you, Mike is very talented. I love being surrounded by talented, creative souls! 😀 xx
The more you surround yourself with positive, weird creative people. You soak up so much knowledge, the noise in your heart is the power of your creativity waiting to be heard.
I agree, Charlie! I live in a creative village. It works for me. 😀 xx
