BLACK WOMEN WITH CARIBBEAN MONARCHS

“This mural was painted on an exit to a highway. It depicts two black women surrounded by Caribbean Monarch Butterflies. Puerto Rico is very proud of its African influence and heritage on the island. Several famous black artists have had a major influence in the arts, and this mural pays a homage to black women.“

“The mural is slowly deteriorating, nevertheless it still has great detail. Caribbean Monarch Butterflies are unique because they don’t migrate and are native to the Caribbean region. They are slightly smaller than the Canadian ones but have the same colors and morphology.”

My sister, Jacquie, passed away. She was the most beautiful, with the longest hair.

My dearest niece, Sherrie is her daughter. Sherrie is my muralling partner, & responsible for the shots you see on GLaM of me taking pics of graf.

This image, taken outside a beauty parlor, is the perfect representation of Jacquie. May your afterlife be as beautiful, dear sister.

It is my honor and pleasure to introduce to you my guest today – an honored and respected Artist, Marija Živanović.

Marija Zivanovic was born 1985 in Nis, Serbia. Completed High School Of Art in Nis, Serbia from 2000-2004. Attended Faculty Of Art at University of Nis from 2004- 2009. and graduated with honors.

Through my art I celebrate life and what I consider good fragments of it. Art is my life, but what I create doesn’t exsist only for itself and I don’t create only for myself. Artist is a storyteller, and my belief is that what we make should save all the good things from forgetfulness, that every piece is a monument, a phrase, thus should be build carefully and thoushfully, cause art should inspire as well as teach.
