Girl w/ Graffiti Gardenia

I found this lovely in Kensington Market.

She’s surrounded by Graf Writing. Far right green and pink piece reads SKAM. The others are familiar, but I can’t quite read them.

Click on the above pic to better see the girl surrounded by the writing.

The Band Played On

Although this mural s only 2 months old, it has been fouled with throw-ups.

Fortunately the t-ups are along the bottom, & I was still able to capture the best parts.

I’m working this mural right to left.

Below is a Pano shot, which shows some of the damage at the bottom. Any further back, and trees get in the way.

I resumed the mural hunt after brunch.

The simple logo carries a powerful message. The central government initiated the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in 2014 with the objective of a Clean India by 2019  and who else but Gandhi can be its inspiration. Apart from Ahimsa and Satyagraha, Gandhi was also a crusader for cleanliness and effective sanitation. His teachings and principles are more relevant in these times.

Now, what is over there?  There are birds everywhere. For a moment I thought I was seeing a poster of the classic Hitchcock movie  The Birds.

DALeast is well-known in the graffiti world.  The Lodhi Colony mural was inspired by his travels in India: There’s a chaos but inside it, there is an order. Those birds are the same as us, moving around all the time; if they stop they will crash… I’m one of the birds.

Leaving the birds I walked…

Jazz Jive Jitterbug

On a Bell Tel box is this fab tribute to Jazz.

Below is the front (east side) of the box as you walk up the street.

Let me spin you round, starting on the south side of the box, which is a female sax player. I adore the silhouette style.

Then, it’s around to the west side, and 3 more musicians, trumpet, singer and upright bass.

The north end is plain, with the artists signature. (shown at end of post)

Then it’s back to the east side, where the dancers are in color.
