MURAL OF THE YEAR 2004 -190 Disraeli Freeway – Another Charlie Johnson masterpiece, this clever mural wraps around 3 sides of a ginormous building.

However, the MIXER, pictured above, needs sound tracks before he can mix tracks. So wrap around to the opposite end wall of the building where THE SINGER lays down her tracks.

Then THE HARMONICA PLAYER

.. lays tracks just before the mural

Wraps around the corner to the lengthy front face of the building where we find,

THE GUITARIST

BACK UP SINGERS

BASS PLAYER

DRUMMER

SAXAPHONE

KEYBOARDS

I said it was ginormous!
There’s this little outcrop with a BANJO DUDE

Then we arrive back at the end wall where the mix happens.

Guess these are the young wanna be Rock Stars!

The Yamaha Center on Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Painted in 2004, it is a magic mural!

I was in Winnipeg end of the year in 2012, and shot 127 murals. I am headed back for another visit, and will shoot more murals. I’ve only posted 64 of the original 127, but hey, it’s nice to have extras!

Best I could do on a long shot with a pedestrian camera, and 8 lanes of vicious Winnipeg traffic between the Mural and I.

This is at 118 Osborne Street.

Painted in 2010, it speaks for itself.

Winnipeg – 2006 Mural of the Year.
Jill Sellers was kind enough to provide photos of this 92 x 50 ft. mural taken when it was new.

They’re gorgeous shots. Click on pics to enjoy them in a larger size.

My eye is drawn to smaller detail, of which there is plenty in this stunning mural. So I have kept some of my shots, taken years later when the mural had faded.
145 Market Street – As a clothing designer, this detail is especially pleasing to me.

Although Jill Sellers was the original conceptual artist she needed help to pull this off & insists the amazing artists, who contributed a lot, be duly credited.

1854 Portage Avenue

Long, wide and quite far back to get the high up for this amateur photographer, but finding this airplane is a sweet memory.
