Femina Centurio et Noctua

I fell in love with this. It added an hour to my walk.

I was in a mostly empty streetcar, when I saw it pass by.

What were my chances of getting another empty streetcar, when early rush hour was impending?

Two stops later, I got off, walked back and spent a half hour shooting. I then walked the rest of the way home.

I’ve been hoarding it, ever since.

Even the darn dumpster doesn’t ruin it.

Happy Horror’een

Come closer, don’t be afraid! I’ll only bite some of you!

As you can see, I’m quite the looker.

I live behind parked cars, and when I can’t suck blood, I suck tail pipes!

Yip, yip, AAAaaaRRrrOooooo. I bite everyone! I’m an equal opportunity gnawer!

Perhaps you’d rather be impaled by my pal up the alley? He’s an old friend of Vlad.

Deepest horror condolences to Tim. It appears an owl swallowed him! Makes me wonder what the owlets will look like next spring?

A Wall of a Party

On the drive home from Dog Fountain, the corner of an eye caught colour.

I returned on a rainy Sunday to find it.

A huge mural awaited me, and a massive party.

A club had taken over at least 2 monster parking lots. They painted the cement floor in colourful swirls and had a mural painted on the club’s building’s wall.

The wall is a cross block long. I had only 1 vantage point. The far end of the mural is barely discernible.

Okay, back to specific pieces, like the sweet deer.

IMO, the closest part was painted by Shalak. The further away part is painted by her husband, Smoky.

The bird intros the Smoky part.

Anyway, the entire time I was shooting, there was a loud happy party going on. The space was caged in. To sit on this uber patio, you had to go through the club, and pay a cover, or show an invitation to the function.

An at least 6 foot fence wrapped the entire (Smoky) back area.

You can see I was standing on the street outside of low railing.

There were about 200 hundred young people partying in the centre of the patio. They had a wild female DJ. It was uproarious. If it hadn’t been raining, I’m sure there would be party goers rail side.

I bet on a nice night, the patio could hold up to 1,000 people.I thought of taking a pic of the partiers, but that felt voyeuristic. I’m about capturing the art.

Kiev, Chernobyl & Pripyat – en Graffe

My pal Alex Morris sent us pics of murals & graf from the Ukraine. The first four are all in, and around, Kiev city centre.

“While I were wending me merry away around Kiev I noticed some fancy graffiti and all that. Sending you some of the best over.”

“However, an unexpected work trip arose in September 2021. And so with a day off on Sunday 12th September, we booked into a day tour and headed to the location of the world’s worst nuclear disaster.”

Chernobyl is a region permanently stuck in the past, that also provides an important message for the future.”

WOW! There it is guys, Chernobyl! Omg, it’s got a mural on it.

All of which can only lead onto the local town of Pripyat, which was built to house local power plant workers and their families.”

“The mass evacuation of the city was delayed whilst authorities denied the reality of the situation, eventually evacuating the city in a matter of hours.”

“Visitors can only stay in Pripyat for a short while and you’re not allowed to touch anything, otherwise you risk contaminating yourself”.

“In fact, there are radiation checks when you leave the Exclusion Zone to ensure you’ve not done anything stupid.”

“Some people do break into the Exclusion Zone and have to treks for days in the woods to reach Pripyat, which exposes them to a lot of radiation. But some of them may be the ones completing the graffiti. I couldn’t find any details on whether it was allowed by the government or not. But it’s there to behold.”

Alex’s post on visiting Chernobyl, Pripyat & Kiev is fabulous! Click on over and check it out!

There is no end to taggers on this planet. Yet, somehow it’s comforting to me to know that. Not sure why. Perhaps it speaks to commonality of humanity.

A work of art, yet so far away it’s difficult to make out. Nonetheless it’s neat to see a Kiev street! Interesting parking.

Welcome to Dog Fountain!

Meow! I am your cat host for this special post about Dog Fountain.

When Resa arrived, this was what she saw. She was somewhat flummoxed as she realized she would have to shoot around the sculpture on a sunny day.

Street Art is flat. This was a new challenge.  Pics were taken at 1/4 points around the circle.

The fountain was built in 2017. You’ll see a lot of erosion for 4 years. Here’s the first 2 dogs Resa saw!

She worked her way around the base of the fountain.

Oh look! There I am, watching all of the dogs. Notice the golden bone atop the fountain!

Resa’s fave dog….. after me, the cat. Resa adores me.

This is a cute dog.

Round about the fountain go!

A cutie-pie!

So ends around Dog Fountain.

The last Doggie… on the ground.

Here’s a slideshow of the doggies in the fountain , on the first tier and on the second tier.
