UP Magic – Two

I exit the underpass, leave the blue and red birds behind, and look back.

After the exit, is a couple of turtles.

The pic above was taken from across the road. The one below is from right at the head. (he’s so cute!)

Then there’s the swan. Le Gasp!

Followed by a green egret. (I think it’s an egret)

I just couldn’t get enough of these birds. The above & below pics were taken from across the road.

Hey! Look! Nick is in the upper left corner of the shot below.

He was working on the fishes, and would be done in 2 more days.

Shots of Nick are taken with his permission.

There are several symbols throughout the mural. @nelly_onehundred  painted the symbols. Below is a sun.

A mosquito is an insect, not a symbol.

Then I can see the end of this side of the underpass.

However, first I must capture this butterfly.

Then there’s a bee.

Bee and flower love. SAVE THE BEES!

🦄 Cumpleaños de Aquileana 💜

🎂 Happy birthday, dear Aquileana! 🎂

We’ve shared many posts, and all are very special to me.

Other than the opening shot, I’m moving left to right.

I’ve been saving this mural for a special occasion. Wishing you a wonderful birthday, and thanking you for all the spectacular posts we’ve done together is a perfect time.

Of course, I was hoping to find some Scorpio themed street art with a Scorpion in it, but no such luck.

However, this First Nations inspired art is filled with the mystic,

much like Greek Mythology and the Tarot,

… and much like you.

🦄 HAPPY BIRTHDAY,  AQUILEANA 💜

🎂 Sherrie’s Birthday Card 🎂

Happy Birthday to my dear niece Sherrie! Sherrie is very fond of skulls.

Question: How can you tell a girl skull from a boy skull?

Answer: The girl skulls have pigtails!

Question:  What could be sweeter than skulls with flowers? (Answer at the end of post)

All of these skulls are for Sherries Birthday!

Chicks, Beers & Cheers

Aquileana commented how cute the chicks toasting with beers on “More Paint” post are, and she’s right! They are adorable.

I made the mistake of going on a Sunday. The alley was filled with tourists, all taking pictures.

I had a hard time focusing on my shots, especially waiting for no one to be walking by.

Uber has done a piece promoting St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. It is a wonderful Canadian city on the Atlantic coast.

Uber 5000’s chicks & other animated characters are very popular there & here.

You can see there is an entirely different Uber chicks mural around the corner. That’s still coming, a few posts from now.

Cheers to Aquileana, and all!

More Paint!

When I found this in Graffiti Alley, I had a good chuckle.

I mean how much more paint until the walls from each side touch?

Paint over paint, some neat, some not.

Below, is a beautiful face I posted November 2017. I call her “Blue Eyes”. Check her out! Just another piece to move to R.I.P. I guess the artist with the red and white paint knows their paint is better.

Sometimes the artists paint over all the tags and throw ups with black, then do fresh art on top.

Many of the artists who paint & write here are very talented.

Others are ________(fill in the blank)

Graffiti Alley is a bit of a misnomer. It’s actually a series of alleys and lanes, that go for longer than most can walk. I only shot a few pics of it, so you could get an idea.

Uber 5000 is an artist who frequents the alleys. I’ll be doing an individual post for the mural of the chicks above. His chicks and other animals survive the taggers.

So does most of Elicsr’s work. Both have become in demand artists for murals, underpasses and private commissions.

Some of the more amazing writing survives time.

Most of this will all be rewritten, tagged or adorned with fresh throw ups in a week.

Love the RatFink by the trash! He’s going to live on for a bit.

I keep hoping for a major rework of this wall below.

From the sublime to the ridiculous, ALL are allowed a visual voice in Graffiti Alley. Art here comes in the form of tags, throw ups, bits, pieces, writing and all out seriousness.

I discovered Graffiti Alley in 2012. This is one of the first pieces I shot, a stunning face by Jarus, and SKAM writing, together.

She was my first header, ever. This work still survives, as does a few Uber 5000 works. There is at least 1 other that I can think of.
