Turquoise Lion

It’s just a small piece in an alley, and I love it!

He lives midst bits and burners.

The burner (writing) to the right of the lion is by Insight. The face on the far right is an Elicsr.

Unsigned, but a guess would be Nick Sweetman

Honestly, I always thought the name of this song was “Lion Eyes”. I’ve used it on a post before, and I was sure it was “Lion Eyes”. Guess I hear and see what I want to.

To get To you

It’s been a sad week and a day. First Jeff Beck, now David Crosby. Holly has done a moving tribute to Crosby with her beautiful words. Her post prior was a tribute to Beck. Thank you, dear Holly!

The sun is slipping down the horizon. An echelon of wild geese gather above.I follow grey wings into the storm.

My arms are branches of trees and you are
my nourishment,
cut me down to a boat.
My spine a sturdy keel , my hair
unfurled sails. A distant lighthouse
my only lamp for you hold the stars
in your hand.
If my sails are cast into a cleft too
deep for me to cross
I was trying to get to you.

Elephant on a Ball

Elephants are dignified gentle giants.

Why would anyone want to teach them to stand on a ball?

This brass sculpture has replaced a Henry Moore that was out front of the AGO for almost 40 years.

Acclaimed contemporary artist Brian Jungen, from British Columbia designed it as a poetic tribute to the plight of creatures in captivity.

Twas the Night Before Chickmas

BY Georgiann Carlson

It’s lots of fun celebrating CHICKMAS at The Coop! Gigi has made this in 3 posts, so here I have put them all together. Thank you Gigi! Adore you!

Twas’ the night before Chickmas

Twas’ the night before Chickmas
and all through The Coop
the chicklets were playing
with their hula hoops

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
in hopes that St. Chicklaus soon would be there

the chicklets were sleeping
all snug in their beds
while visions of corn bread
danced fast in their heads

the hens in their kerchiefs
the roosters in caps
didn’t have time
for a long
winter’s nap

when out on the lawn
there arose such a clatter
they ran to the window
to see what was the matter

and what to their wondering eyes
did appear
but a miniature sleigh
and one tiny reindeer

as they drew in their heads
they heard a new sound
and there was St. Chicklaus
when they turned around

There were gifts for the chicklets
the hens and the cats
the dogs and the roosters
the horses and bats
the cows and the goats
the birds and the ducks
even the pigs and the squirrels were in luck
all were included
it’s always that way
so everyone there
had the very best day

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL MY WP PALS!

Told through the intimate conversational writing we’ve come to know from this author, poignant personal steppingstones to learning moments are revealed. She encompasses the heart of each matter with sincerity and sprinkled inflections of humor.

From first kiss to first car to walking in the desert with four-inch heels, Kaye’s short coming-of-age stories take us through her awakenings and important moments of growth, often without warning. Some good and some not, life lessonsarelearned through trial and error, winging it, and navigating by the seat of her pants.
