Mercury and Psyche

I went gaga when I laid eyes on this mural.

The translucency of of colours over words is intriguing to me.

The gods never looked so great!

Rising over 10 stories into the Toronto sky line, this tall boy was difficult to shoot with my IPhone.

Oh, and there was this ugly billboard four feet in front of it, so I had to shoot on an angle.

Ah, I get it! Pave paradise, put in a parking lot. Rectify with gorgeous art. Put bad asp billboard 4 feet in front of art. Next!

  1. That is breathtakingly beautiful, Sorceress! Effing billboard. I swear they do it on purpose.
However, since you are the photographer, you made your way around the atrocity to show us this gorgeous piece… My goodness…

    1. I think it’s on purpose, Thunder. Where better to put a billboard atrocity than where everybody looks.
I hope the ad company at least pays $$$$$$$$ for the privilege of blocking the artwork.

    1. I like the see through effect.
Underneath you have words that look like graffiti. Overtop, a classic work. It’s quite urban modern.
Joni wrote some good ones. I hope she’s still coming along!

  2. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This mural is (or it should be) set to classical music, while a thunderstorm is setting the town on fire. And it most certainly should not have the intrusion of that f$cking ad below it. Which should be ignored for whatever it is they’re selling.

    Magnifique, Resa!

    1. Thank you Marc!
Yes, this is a beauty. Magnifique is the word.
I don’t know what they are selling, but I hope the ad agency is paying $$$$$ for this spot!
I’m thrilled I bumped into it. I was actually looking for the mural of a deer that day.
      (I found that, too!)
      MUAH!

      1. Thank U lovely!

It is the word alright, outstanding.

I hope the ad agency falls flat on their face, putting the ad there! I know, it’s wrong to say, but . . . .

Isn’t it funny how that works?

        MUAH!

  3. I can see why you went gaga over it! That is great. Looking at the video on their website they did all of the graffiti under-painting as well, starting off with a pretty much bare wall and building it up. Very cool work! And, yeah, paradise – parking lot – art work – billboard.

    1. Lol! Your last sentence makes me laugh.. again. What could come after the billboard?

Yeah, this piece is gaga worthy. Hope I fined more. Still, I have a lot of lesser pieces I can post until the painting season is back in swing!
      Have a great week, Trent!

    1. I bet when corporation people see something so beautiful, they think “Let’s put a sign there! Everyone will notice it!”
Then the city charges them through the nose.

        1. Thank you dear Tim! Yes, the mural of the deer is a dear.
Dare I say all deer are dear, and can be found in many anagrams.
          Lol! You started it! 🦌❦❦❦

                1. Ahh… what is the bird?
                  I looked up hickens…lol!!!
                  🐓🐓➖c ✖️2️⃣, but then x 2 didn’t make sense

                  then 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️-d = Octors?
                  Help!!!

    1. Agree! How lucky we are to have this beauty gracing our city.
I wonder what the next paining season will bring?
Until then, I have a collection of smaller pieces to post.
      😍🥰🙏🙏💖

  4. I think I would have stopped in my tracks too, Resa. How utterly gorgeous. Wow. And what an ugly ugly sign. What the…? Street art isn’t decoration. It’s ART and should be treated as such. The perfect song today.

    1. I did answer this. My internet went down just as I hit post comment.
I thought it had gone through, but not.
This is a wonderful work of art. I hope the ad agency is paying through the teeth for this spot.
Poor Joni! I hope she is continuing to recover through therapy!

  5. I was singing the song before you mentioned it! Iconic and powerful captures, Resa. You position the camera to obtain the best views for us. It is not easy to to this, given all of the signage, cars, and other disruptions that obscure our view. Do you know who the mural artist is? This mural brings out the love story of Mercury and Psyche beautifully!!

      1. They always do that. I suspect City Hall checks out new street art and when the paint isn’t even dry, they rush and plant a tree right in the middle. (That and garbage cans…)

        1. Yes, garbage cans. OH, and let’s not forget the parking warning signs over eyes, etc.
AND.. if someone parks their car by street art, could they make it a clean shiny car, for optimal reflections.

Speak your art mind!
