Let’s start part 3 in the dark of the underpass, where Lula Lamaj painted this lovely piece.
Here she is at work.
The scratchy, tag effect is on purpose. It seems to be a trend that some artists will pre tag their art to give it a more time endured look.
The work below is an example of that. The artist really gave it a time tagged look.
The artist at work. This piece is in my top 5/6 faves.
Close ups slideshow.
The overall name of the project is ON the MOVE.
Some artists ran with the theme.
What’s a graffiti art wall without animation?
The artist below works on his piece above.
In the centre of the underpass there are stairs to the West Toronto Railpath and GO/UP express Station.
I see this neat pink leopard, as I approach.
Turn around to see the other side of the stairway! 2 artists here – 1~the face & 2~the swirls beyond going to the top of the stairs.
Another of my faves, I went a bit crazy taking pics. Put some in the slideshow above.
Below Curtia works on her painting of above face.
The art below says: GREETINGS from WEST TKARONTO
TKARONTO – is a Mohawk word meaning “the place in the water where the trees are standing” . It is believed to be where “Toronto” came from.

Lovely! Thanks!
You are more than welcome!
Amazing art Resa.
So much talent .
Thank you for sharing.
I agree Maggie!
It’s hard to make it as an artist, and street art is a way to show your talent. Many of these artists go on to have their own show, or paint private murals.
You are welcome, Maggie! I love sharing.
Wow!
I agree, Martha, 100%!
Hope you are well! ❦★
Thank you, dear Resa. I’m doing pretty good. 😉
How about you?
I am well. XO & MORE XO to you, dear Martha!
Marvelous! Those are such beautiful murals, and how amazing it is to watch the artists at work. I can imagine how fast your heart must beat while photographing. Mohawk words are of origin!
Thank you, my friend!
By the way, there is a painting titled “On the Move,” with its Persian translation written beneath it; how interesting!!
😊👍💖🙏
I was in heaven watching the artists paint, Aladin. Watching humans create beauty is a wonderful experience.
It’s the opposite of war.
You are welcome! Ahh, I had wondered what that was under the OTM, thank you for translating! It makes sense. Canada is multicultural.
Although a distinct society unto itself, Canada encourages people to retain their root cultures.
XO❦★❦★
I can imagine my dear friend, and honestly, I am a bit jealous of you! 😉😅😘
Let’s make art, not war!! ✌🍁🌹💕
I would be jealous of me too, if I wasn’t me. Lol…just because of all the art around me.
ART not WAR!!!!

PS… love the Mohawk words! 💜 ༺🌹༻ 💜
Stunning artwork. I love the pink leopard!
Agree, the art is marvellous.
The pink leopard is adorable. It makes me happy.
Thank you, Esther!
I think I most love that graffiti art wall with a little touch o’animation, Resa. And that’s saying a lot, because the pink leopard on the prowl is awesome as well.
Yes! What is graffiti without some animation? I found a beautifully done Bugs Bunny graf mural a couple of days ago. Classic & hilarious.
OMG… the pink leopard makes everyone happy!
Thank you for checking out this art, Bruce, and your fab comment!
Such wonderful, vibrant art! 🌟 I love the faces and how the art goes up (or down) the stairs. The jewelry on the pink leopard made me smile.
Thanks Merril!
Yes, the art is wonderful.
Repeating a comment I just made to another blogger; what a joy it was watching people create this art. It’s the opposite of people creating war.
Make art not war!
LOl… all leopards should wear jewelry, especially pink ones. ❦★
You’re welcome, Resa!
Yes, definitely make art, not war! 🎨
Hahahaha 🐆🩷
Art and Artist in motion 🍇🐆🚲
I love it!
ON THE MOVE!
❦ ༺ 🚲 ༻ ❦
These artists are, as unique as their, paintings, each with a, style of their own, wonderful!
I agree! Thank you for checking out the art, and you lovely comment!
Wonderful, Resa, to see great artists at work making great art!
I agree! What a treat that day was.
Make art not war!
🙂
What a fun and vibrant mix of art. I especially like the guy on the mini bike, anime, pink leopard, and face. Thanks for another great street art share Resa. 😍
Lol… the mini bike!
Yes… many great pieces here today. I’m so happy you enjoy them.
One more post to finish the underpass art! 💜
Can’t wait! 😍

I love the self tagging! An ode to the sport. We had “world famous” graffiti artists in town this week and their sponsor was offended that their work was tagged by locals. It’s the game of graffiti, no whining, taking offense, or pearl clutching needed.
Yes, you are right Cheyenne!
The self tagging is an ode.
I agree 100% with what you said. I know it’s true because I chat with many street artists. They get it!
However, when the city pays for the project, as in this one (they pay the artists and for all the paint) they clear coat it after. That way they can wipe off the tags.
I made sure to take all my pics before that darn coating went on. It’s so hard to shoot through, like shooting into a mirror.
They only do a few projects every year that they pay for.
However, they will still pay for the paint if you pay for the artist. The artists are happy to have the free paint, and most will paint your wall/garage whatever for free.
Wow, amazing way to bring the light to the dark! These murals are beautiful.
Yes.. I love the art! The underpass feels so safe now.
They will do the other side next year. And now that there is a Go Train stop up the stairs there, it’s super safe.
Thanks Beth!
These are all amazing. Thanks for sharing the work of these talented artists.
You are so welcome, Darlene!
I love the art… yay for art!
It’s a joy to watch these artist out therein the wide open doing their thing. So much talent ! I’m sure it is the best therapy one could have. All so beautiful! Thank you for this Resa!

I just got invited to an Academy Emmy event in Miami. I wish I was down there. I would love to take you for the freebies and fun… and who knows who is vaycaying down there who will show up.
I’m used to getting invited to events in LA & NYC, but this is the first Miami one.
I think of you often… I would so love to take you to an Emmy event!
That is awesome. I haven’t seen any notifications about that. Imagine the hob nobbing fun. You’re in with the IN crowd.
😎😎🙌🤗
It’s an invite only event, at Arlo Wynwood. Is that near the murals? xoxoxoxoxoxo
North of Downtown Town art district.
Oooooooooooo
Le Gasp!
I want to go to that district! OMG!
Did it open up? I mailed it but it didn’t open on the mail. Looks pretty cool. 😎

It is amazing. 🤩 News to me!

Wonderful how the streets can be turned into a living art gallery, Resa. Thanks for finding them for us xx
Yes, I agree!
I love finding the art, just like you love finding all the fabulous images you share.
Life is grand! xx
Isn’t it wonderful to actually meet up with mural artists and have the opportunity to talk with them about their work. I think encounters like this add another dimension to public art. Suddenly the mural is not simply something we pass by and admire, but a connection with the person and story behind its creation. What a lovely addition to your mural treasures. Sending hugs. P.S. The Vancouver Mural Festival is on now!! Yay!!!
Yes, I adore meeting the artists.
The Mural Festival!
OBOY!
Take pics!
Yayayay!
Hugs!
I’m really enjoying the underpass series, Resa!! These artworks are fantastic. I LOVE the beautiful girl surrounded by flowers and butterflies by Lula Lamaj. The woman’s face by Curtia is stunning, with beautiful colors and dramatic eyes. The On The Move ones are a lot of fun, too!
That’s so cool that you met the actual mural artists, too. I now pay more attention to murals that I come across because of you!
XOXOXO

Lula’s paining is simply lovely. If art reflects the person, like is said, she would be so great to meet.
Curtia – wow – I have been finding her street art for about 8 years now. She has come a long way. It’s wonderful to see the progression.
Enjoy the art in the streets! It is for all.
XOXOXO

A gorgeous and just as vibrant part III, Sorceress. I can see why the On the Move is one of your favourites – it’s fantastique! And I love the continuation of the theme. Gives it that feeling of belonging while still being distinct.
Thank you, lovely, for sharing these.
My pleasure dear Thunder!

Glorious photos, Resa. Thanks for sharing. 🐂
Love this, Resa. Fabulous artwork. That fifth picture is wonderful. All of the work is great. You did a wonderful job capturing all of it.
Thanks Gi!
It was a fantastic experience hanging out with the artists while they were painting. Days like this make life make a sort of sense.
I’m so happy you like it, and I adore the 5th pic, too! xoxo
I’m so glad this wonderful body of work will be coated to protect from tagging. Would defeat the purpose otherwise. Maybe why some artists had to tag their own work, LOL!!
I think you are right! LOL ★
WOW!! Another great street art exhibit! I really like that you’re able to include the artists at work.
Thanks Liz!
WOW is right, and watching them paint gave me extra joy. Then more joy was added when many of them knew me and gave me big waves & high fives. AND I got 1 hug!
The hug was a nice bonus! You’re welcome, Resa.
Love a good hug.
Thanks Liz!
You’re welcome, Resa!
Those artists look so organized and methodical. Impressive!
I love that pink leopard!
It is impressive!
It’s like a bunch of gardeners each with 1 little spot, all tending their flowers. ★
Thank you, Audrey!
Oh, the pink leopard is quite popular here today.
What an extraordinary jaunt you went on! This latest collection has me gaga for more. I especially love the Jimmy Hendrix meets the Dalai Lama in all its psychedelic glory!
Yes.. it was a fabulous jaunt!
Thank you Marc, I adore that piece, too!
There is one more Underpass post for this series… soon (ish).
MUAH!
A gallivant even!
I love it, I kept going back to it.

Yes..a gallivant! I’m a gallivanter. I love it!

You are a lovely gallivanter.

Pre-tagging their own work. What a concept! Does it prevent or encourage subsequent tagging by others, or does nobody know, or is that not even relevant?
Hey Penny!’I’m not sure, a bit of all you suggest.
It’s relevant, but only in street art circles.
I have actually developed a sort of love for tags. Some alleys are heavily tagged, no art. The heavily tagged alley becomes a work of art unto itself. I don’t post those pics.
For this series of art, as it is a city paid for project, it will be coated with a clear coat that allows for tags to be cleaned off.
Street art w/o tags? I think the artists who did it here wanted to give it that true street art feel.
Nice to see you! Love your Vangroovy pics!
I had a street artist friend in TO, who did both commissioned and seriously uncommissioned work, who complained about a self-righteous group within the community, who defaced as thoroughly & obscenely as they could any commissioned works, because those artists had sold out…
To the self righteous I say…Tag Away, but we all have to pay rent and eat.
Oh, wow, Resa! What incredible underpass art!! I love being in nature, so the birds, flowers and bees in the first mural really caught my attention. What wonderful colors and a lovely sense of peace and harmony. The man on the bicycle made me smile; he seems like he knows where he’s going and has a sense of humor and perspective about the journey! I have to say, the pink leopard, too, is so vibrant and captivating! It must’ve been a treat to see this art. I wish there was more street art here; it’s always to uplifting to see and helps me think about the world in a different way. Thanks for sharing project On the Move with us! 🌸🌻🎨
Hi Resa, these are wonderful artworks. My favourite is the gorgeous pink leopard but they are all divine.
These are all fantastic, Resa. The talent is phenomenal! I love the profile and flowers, along with the pink leopard. Hope you’re doing well! Hugs 🌷🦋 xo

You hit the jackpot! So many fantastic murals. I especially like the pink leopard and the bicyclist on the move.
Yes, I did hit the jackpot, Tim!
What a wonderful whirlwind it all was. That Pink Leopard is quite popular.
And I find the OTM Bicyclist hilarious. xx

Thanks Brian! 1 more post to go on the underpass. There were 39 paintings. Whew!
Ohh… I can see why you say Jane Fonda. I live the costumes and I hope they win! xx
It must be wonderful to have near 40 new paintings come out to life in “a minnit”.
Jane Fonda, right? Totally.

Hmm, I wonder what happened almost 2 years ago that took wind out of my sails? xxx
Things to do. People to see…
Lol.. yes! You too!.
How’s the vaycay going?
Vaycay all right. (Since I’m retired it’s actually all the time.) Got back to the city today…
Happy weekend, Resa.
Happy back to the city weekend, Brian! xx

All of these murals are huge fun, Resa. All so colorful too. Some are truly beautiful. That pink leopard steals my heart though. I’ve been dealing with a Murphy’s Law of home repairs, so I’ve fallen behind yet again. Big hugs.
Ahh, so many fancy the pink leopard. It is quite fetching.
Uch, falling behind is my middle name. No worries! We do what we can. HUGS!
