Darling Ducks

Dedicated to dear Marina from Art Towards a Happy Day.

I know it must be difficult with the fire raging so close to home, Athens.

I thought perhaps some beautiful ducks would brighten your day, my friend.

Thinking of you and yours!

The Artist:

Also thinking of all who are in the paths of the raging fires!

The pics of this mural were difficult and somewhat dangerous to take. They are in an underpass, with lots of cars going through. Of course I’ve learned to take shots when cars are going past.

I shot from both sides. This side was far away. The other side was like the front row in a movie theatre. Still, lots of art in here. I hopped into the bike lane every now and again.

    1. Thank you, John! I appreciate your comment. I found these ducks enchanting, a welcome respite from all of the insanity. We have many blog pals in harms way. Athens… a great city in such peril, is very sobering.

We’ve been inside all day because there is a lot of smoke in the air from forest fires. The fires are hundreds of miles away, but we still get a lot of smoke. We put up another sack of green chiles this afternoon.

            1. You’re going to have a lot of chilies. Are the green ones hot?
Yeah, we’ve gotten smoke from fires up north, depends on the wind.
They call it an air advisory.

The green chiles are are medium hot, but they will have really hot bites from time to time. We get advisories, also, But like David asked why do they issue advisories when it’s obvious there is a lot of smoke in the air?

    1. I adore ducks! I did an Art Gown inspired by ducks. I’ve seen your lovely ducks on your blog.
I’ll be by to see them some more!
      They are simply beautiful Eunice!

    1. Aww, thank you! However, it’s the artists who paint these wonderful pieces. I just take the pics. However, I do the best I can to show the art properly.

  1. Darling ducks for our darling Marina. You are in my thoughts dear one. May you and your family be safe and your homeland overcome this disaster unscathed.
Dahling Resa, I adore this wall art. Sweetman is a favorite artist of mine. Thank you for all the beautiful work you do for us to put a smile back on our face.
    You are fantastic!
    Love you Dear Meece.

    1. Dahling,
Sweetman is a wonderful artist. I adore his nature tributes, animals, insects, aquatic life…he does it all.
Marina loves all life, so I thought these ducks would cheer her up.
You are fantastic too, dear Meece!
      love ya! xx🐭🐭xx

  2. Brilliant, Resa! A wonderful way of sharing hope, joy, resilience, community and belonging. I know that Marina will be comforted by your darling ducks and love that your are sending out into the universe.

  3. The ducks of happiness, indeed a splendid paddle of ducks. I believe Lady Marina will rather like them. For my part, your street art post, young Resa reminded me of perhaps the worst yet ‘funniest’ song ever made. You’ll likely not believe this, yet back in the day I used to go to their concerts…100% true. Perhaps Lady Marina will get a laugh? One hopes so. 4. Lovely ducks, and you managed to get some great shots, too!
(I took some photos of a mural from the car as we were driving through an underpass. I’ll put them in my post today.)😀

    I hope Marina is OK!

    1. Yeah, this is a very cute mural, and it did cheer Marina up.
When the fire is out, we will see what damage is done. I’d heard the Acropolis was threatened.
As far as I know Marina is okay, but the family seaside home was threatened.

Okay, Mural Merril! I’m coming by!

  5. Oh…. with all that’s happening, I just saw this! I can’t thank you enough, my sweet friend. You really brightened my day and it was very very much needed. Sigh… sweet sweet duckies. I love them!
Sending you love and hugs and love and hugs and then more.
    You just melted my heart.
    Mouah!!!!!!!!!!
    Hera loved the duckies too!!!!

    1. Dear Marina,

I had to do something more than say I care, you take care…which is wonderful to hear people say.
I thought an animal mural would be the bees knees for you. I adore these ducks.
It’s a small gesture, and you have melted my heart with your appreciation!
      HERA! Running for the sponges!

  6. You are such a sweet, loving and adorable friend. A beautiful dedication to Marina. These ducks are so fabulous! Gorgeous colours and I’m glad you didn’t get hurt, you crazy Sorceress!

    1. Shuckers Thunder! … It’s terrible what’s happening. A third of the world is on fire, a third is flooding and a third is melting. I just thought some sweet colourful nature would make Marina happy.
AH, yes, the part about deeking into the bike lane.
I’ll try …. ah..erm… not to do that again.
Honestly, if Norm saw, I’d still be hearing about it!

      1. No kidding. The world is hurtin’. It’s hurtin’ bad.
And yes, your colourful nature was just the thing.
        And um… nkay… 😉
I won’t tell Norm. This time.

    1. Thank you! Marina’s blog is called “Art Towards A Happy Day”. It’s where I’ve been at in my mind and heart more and more over the last decade.

    1. Hello Michel!

True, there was not a street art huge movement in 2001. However, street art had begun in the 70’s. In 2001 “Writing” style street art made a major appearance, in areas of low public traffic.
By 2010 it was an evident part of the urban landscape, and other artists had begun using the city’s walls to showcase their talents. There was a brief confrontation with the city, but residents came out and supported the artists. Now, urban painting art is a must! ❤

    1. Thank you!!!
Sorry for the tardy reply. I found you in SPAM!
You are now free!I check SPAM every 10days usually.
I never know who the filters will pick on!
      Also, I changed browsers!!!

        1. True!
          Yet,
If the worst wasn’t exposed, the bad would have it’s way.
If only good was exposed, we’d live in a fool’s paradise.
          It’s a lose – lose situation.
          Just a thought.

Speak your art mind!
