During a 3 hour drive to get our mail, we cut through Chinatown.
The corner of my right eye caught the splash of colour down a side street.
I knew it was a face, somehow.
There was no time to stop, but I knew I would return!
What a doll!
… and the sweet yellow bird….

She’s beautiful and so is the yellow bird. A 3 hour drive to get your Mail? That seems a little excessive. But you did find this gorgeous mural.
A 3 hour mail drive is stupid!
We had 0 deliveries for almost a month due to the construction.
The sorting centre for undelivered mail is at the complete opposite side of the city from us. Toronto is apparently the 4th largest city in N.A. with the traffic that goes with it! Also, there were detours aplenty due to construction. 1.5 there and 1.5 back!!!
You know what the cab drivers say about Toronto? There’s 2 seasons; winter and construction.
Norm’s dad was a director and producer for stage and early television. Peter Ustinov was a pal of his. He told Leo, Toronto is going to be a beautiful city, when you finish building it!
Still working on it!
However, yes! I did spot this piece of beauty. I also found several other worthy works!
T’was a very thrilling walking day!
As Marvin, the Robot in Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy, said: “Sounds awful!” Not the murals of course. The problem with cities is once they are finished they die, and the death is just as bad, probably worse, than all the ills that stem from growth.
Interesting statement!
Well, I guess Toronto will be okay for awhile, as we are still building it!
You’ll love this, maybe. They have told us that our intersection will not be opened in the planned time.
Work is stalled due to a thing… we know not what…. between the construction company, engineering co, the city and Toronto Hydro. It’s something to do with telephone poles or street lights.
I’m heading across the city to pick up more mail tomorrow! I plan on looking for street art!
Sounds normal. Good luck on your trip across town.
Thanks!
Terrific Mural, Resa. I’m glad you explained the three-hour drive for mail. Thanks for sharing.
It is a fab mural, John!
Yeah… the mail…I’m heading back there tomorrow to pick up mail. I hope to compensate by finding some cool art!
Pack a lunch, take water, signal if you need help. 😁
No can pack nothing!
No washrooms!
However, if I need help, there will appear to be a faint meep on your computer. It will only appear to be there as it won’t meep in reality… but you will hear it!
I should be close to the docks at Cherry St.
Got it. Will be standing by.
I copped out!
I saw a report on the Delta variant this morning. Then I realized I was going to be on a street car 1 hour each way with strangers.
I panicked. 1/3 of all people are not vaccinated!
I still have lots of art from the other day, and will just have to travel where my feet can take me in the great outdoors, once the smoke advisory from the northern forest fires is lifted!
Smart choice, Resa. Why take the chance?
Thanks! 2 of our provinces are going backwards, back to restrictions.
I think it will happen everywhere.
Yes, I was wondering about the three-hour drive to get the mail as well!
Yeah… taking the streetcar tomorrow to get the mail. It’s probably faster, and it will be the last time. We have a new sidewalk. Could be some new art on the way!
I’ll look forward to your new artistic discoveries!
So much fun!
😀
😁
Yikes. Albino eyes! Is that phone a part of the mural?
No, the phone thing is to get inside the shop, which sells pot.
You punch in whatever, and a big ol’ security guard comes out. If you pass the test, you get in.
It might be legal here, but … this was in Chinatown. It’s a bit rough there. There’s 4 pot shops on my block. No security guards here!
Oh dear. When I first saw the mural I thought the girl was taking a selfie and the flash was so strong it burned out her eyes! I guess I have kind of a warped imagination! (also I haven’t figured out how to take a selfie without blinding myself)
LOL!
I don’t like my selfies!
Scarier than being blinded by a flash! 😀
I’m having trouble getting my comment to post on your site, but I’ll try through the Reader, which almost always works:
Glad I read the comments as the mail drive left me shaking my head. I love the mural but I find the eyes without pupils rather creepy or soulless. I’m looking forward to seeing what other art you found. We haven’t been to Toronto in years but went a few times when we lived in the Cleveland area. Loved the city and got some beautiful handmade paper there as well as had some wonderful meals.
And I like the power box too. 🙂
I’m heading out for what I hope is the last of the mail tomorrow.
I’m going to do the streetcar. I think it will be faster than driving. I’m fully vaccinated and will wear 2 masks and a shield.
What a world!
Yeah…the power box is very pretty!
Resa, it is epic. Forget the drive time. Concentrate on the epic x
xxoo
So pretty. I love the colorful artwork. Those eyes, though. Something is up there. 😀 ;-D
The eyes are like a sculpture… a statue.
Art is up there… albeit street art! 😀 x
What a lovely mural, and while I say “Whaaaaaa?” when it comes to a three hour mail drive, I say “Gaaaaaaa!” when it comes to this beauty.
Whaaaa??? It’s the stupid ongoing construction. We were 1 month without sidewalks here. We had plank drawbridges. No one told anyone in our hood that union rules prevent mail carriers from crossing drawbridges. It all went to a sorting station on the other side of the city.
Gaaaaa! So happy I found her! I definitely got that thrill and rush when shooting her.
All thrills were heightened when a big Security Guard came out to see what I was up to. Turns out the art is on the side of a pot dispensary in Chinatown. We have 4 dispensaries on my street, no guards. Makes me wonder what’s going on in Chinatown?
How were y’all supposed to know the mail carriers couldn’t cross drawbridges? That is so nuts!
I’m GAGA that you met up with this Gaaaa and got some amazing captures. And yes, what IS going on down there?
I’m all about the lemonade. While it is an atrocity that they have caused you such grief to get your mail, it did give you the chance to discover this beauty. And she is definitely a doll! Wonderful, Sorceress! 🧚🏻♀️🌟
Ahh, thanks Thunder!
She is a beaut, and I found some great pieces on my walk home!
Yes…the lemonade is where it’s at! xo
My pleasure, Sorceress.
She really is and woot! What a score!
xoxo
Remember when pot was a score?
Now we just go but it at a pot store. ⚡️💥
Oh yeah. My “kids” are regular shoppers at the SQDC a couple blocks from my house…
lol!
☮️ (Since I can’t get a pot emoji to copy 😉 )
Emojis are way behind! Marina and I are always running into emoji lackings.
🕳 I guess a bunch of useful emoji fell into the hole emoji! xx
They are! LOL
Maybe one day the powers that be will get that stick out of their bums… xo
Okay, but as long as they keep those sticks to themselves! 😀
Buahahaha!
This one is a wow!! (Although I have to agree with others about the creepiness factor wtih the whited-out eyes.) My grandmother trained as a librarian in Toronto in 1919. I don’t expect she would have experienced anything in the way of street art. 😉
Ohh, how neat about your grandmother! TPL is one of the world’s busiest urban public library systems.
I think street art began with graffiti and writing in the 1970’s here. By 2000 it had become most plentiful, then the real art started to surface. Love it, and maybe your grandmother would, too! 😀
I was able to find quite a lot of information about the TPL’s history online. Internet Archive has their annual reports digitized, so I was able to find my grandmother’s department and the training that she undertook. Pretty amazing, what historical records are available now.
That is amazing! Wow!
I know! I love how Internet Archive has digitized the random and obscure.
Resa, “a 3 hour drive to get our mail” stunned me so much that it was a moment before I could read the post. Anyhow this is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing it with us. Hugs!
My pleasure…. the art, not the mail. Now that we have a sidewalk, the mail is coming! {{{hugs}}}
Beautiful. The eyes really catch one’s attention. Colorful and lovely.
Agree! I adore it! xo
Have you ever considered coming back to Vancouver! Just a thought Resa. You know that Vancouver has never been the same since you left. The Vancouver Mural Festival is coming in August – wouldn’t it be fun to roam all over Vancouver to find murals. (P.S. Vancouver misses you.) She is beautiful and the yellow bird has a marvelous symbolism of joyful happiness.
Yes, I have considered retiring in Vancouver, or Victoria.
Also am considering Stratford, or Niagra on the Lake.
Still, Toronto is high on our list.
Wherever you go in Canada, there is beauty and a welcome home. 🤗🤗🤗
I’m so behind in comments!
I have thought of moving back to Vancouver.
N & I had just started talking about where we want to live… maybe a move, then the pandemic hit. So, we are still where we were.
LOL!!!
Splendid artwork, young Resa. Do you think she’s waiting for a phone call? Regards, TOF
TOF, she’s waiting for the security guard to come out of the Mary-Jane dispensary.
She’s very conscious of the phone. I think she’s waiting for a call…can’t say from whom. She reminds of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWhkbDMISl8 Regards, TOF
TF, the link didn’t work here, but I subscribed to her channel on you tube! I adore Blondie… “Call Me” would work here, too!
This is great artwork, Resa, although I do find the pupil less eyes a little creepy.
I like the blank eyes. It’s like a sculpture!
Although most are creeped out!
I adore this piece!
I do love it, the blank eyes are just a bit creepy. Creepy is good.
3 hour drive for mail?!!!! At least you (and us) were rewarded with this mural! The artist may be a Modigliani fan!!! 😉
Great find!!! Love the colors!
❤🤗❤🤗❤🤗❤🤗❤🤗❤🤗❤
It’s a fab piece!
I was going to take the streetcar to pick up what’s left of our mail at the sorting station.
However, I saw a report on the Delta variant this morning, so opted out.
It said if you are exposed, it takes only 3 minutes. Yes, I am fully vaccinated, and continue to wear masks, but it would be a 1 hour ride, with strangers.
I found several wonderful pieces though!
Wait ’til you see the Van Gogh head I found!!!
xoxoxoxoxoxo
Oh, I can’t wait for that one!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨🖌🖌
xoxo🤗🤗🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨 you’ll love it!
💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Was just working on some of the VG pics to Oannes heavy metal.
I finished drawing Shey’s heroine in her gowns last night, so now I can do a post on the book.. “His Judas Bride”
Did 3 more pencil sketches of the AGMs to go with the one I did of you. 1 more and I can do an AGM fashion show. YAY!!
Oh wow!!!! Now that is exciting!!!!!!!
Can’t wait!!!!!

❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Was that a real phone there? Presumably to dial 911 at the sheer awesome of the graffiti.
It is awesome graf… for sure! I adore this piece.
Actually, the box is an old phone box, but now it has a key pad inside it.
Turns out the art and key pad are on the side of a pot dispensary in Chinatown.
You punch in a number, and a big ol’ security guard emerges, and lets you in….if.
There must also be a camera, as he came out to see what I was up to.
We have 4 pot shops on my block, but no security guards. Chinatown is rougher than my hood.
Of course there are NO Marmite dispensaries in Toronto.
When the security guard came out I hope you karate chopped him in the guts and legged it? Keep that in mind, for future occasions.
Rats! I forgot about that!
Good future plan! xx
Cool share, Resa, on your long trip to get the mail!
The art is super cute and with such vibrant colours, plus the power/electrics box which continues the colours.
😎FordXX
Thanks! Yeah, I was more than happy to find this. I walked home from there and found several more neat murals. XXX
This is a beauty, she is surely a doll face but the yellow bird is stealing this show! “Yellow bird up high imbanns tree “🎶! I’m thus Cade up high in the sweet hand if doll face! Love it dear one!
3 miles to get mail….that’s so wrong. xoxoxo
Banana! Stoopid auto correct. ❤️
Agree about the yellow bird! That’s why I gave him/her its own close ups.
Auto correct…. you mean auto mistakes.
Found several amazing pieces this day! ❤
I'm so drawing tonight. I just know the music will be as passionate as last week.
Hopefully I will get a Frida done tonight!
The vet says nothing to worry about, for the time being. WHEW!!
xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Have fun with the band. I’ll listen to some Steppenwolf to get in the groove. I’m dying to see Frida!! xoxoxo 🤗
Chances are there could be Steppenwolf tonight! They jam on Born to be Wild & Magic Carpet Ride!
Hope they play Helter Skelter again!
I was listening to Helter Skelter last night. I love Steppenwolf, we have speakers in the passenger seat of the tour bike. Got to have my magic carpet ride.
Right on!
The players were in a different mood last night. Lots of Dylan kinda stuff. They jammed quite awhile on “Like a Rolling Stone”. Loved it! Got drawings done! Will send an RR later!
xoxoxo
Quite COOL about the speakers!
She ist really a pretty one – very exotic and a little puzzling…
Stay safe, dear Resa!
Agree! I think she’s a beauty. Puzzling is good.
You stay safe too, Martha!
Beautiful and vibrant mural! Thanks for sharing Resa!
You’re so welcome!

Thank you for your visit!!!
Thank youuuuuuuuu so much 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Awesome piece of art work! These are the things that bring cities to life.

The yellow bird is so cute; the pink purple yellow combination makes the lady more exotic. Your trip has been most rewarding.
It was very rewarding. I walked home from there, and found some stunning pieces!
Beautiful mural😍😍
Agree!
I agree with you for she is a doll, a doll holding a pretty yellow bird, a pretty yellow bird holding what seems to be a part of her hair and her eyes do not detract from the beauty of the art. Yes I like this new find, and although your trip for mail was long I figure it was a very worthwhile journey.
Happy Tuesday my dear Resa ❤
