The Dreamers

Actually, I was day dreaming down a rather cozy alley when I found this.

Then, it seemed I was in a dream.

The key? Are dreams a key?

“Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something.”

  1. Wow, what an amazing mural! It’s so touching, moving; the expression on their faces, highlighted by the yellow (sun?). So tender and creative. This was so inspiring, Resa. Thanks for sharing. It’s an honor to be able to appreciate this amazing art! 😊☀️🕊️

    1. Yes, touching is a good word for it, thank you!

I see the yellow as a sun, too, and it definitely is inspirational.

Like many pieces I find in the alleys, it was a perfect moment being there with it.

Ada, I wish everyone could be with me when I find the perfect art moments. 💜🌸

    1. Thanks dear Meece!

It was one of those perfect moments when I found this. Yes, there are many dreamers and hopefully their dreams will come true. They/we just need a positive, productive space and time on earth.

You are right, people help create the time and space for dreams to flourish. Other people mess it up.

Human minds & hearts are often unexplainable.

      ❤️🐭🐭❤️

  2. Human feet and a key; bird’s feet and a compass? No clue! But it is a fantastic mural. The faces are great.

Actually, my first thought was The Beatles “Blackbird”. The top bird, with her tender expression, is singing it to the bottom bird, who still has her feet on the ground. Maybe not exact, but these two are dreaming of freedom and the ability to fly above their troubles; to unlock their shackles.

(I hope this isn’t double – I tried commenting and it just sat and spun for a while, so I am starting over…)

    1. Trent,

Not a double. I hate when comments spin. There’s enough dizzying stuff in life.

I like your thoughts a lot. Unlock their shackles to soar above the fray, one even has the compass to guide the way.

BTW, I didn’t realize that was a compass. I knew it was something I’d seen. Hey, I just go out and walk, and as you know, get lost!

      Love the reference to Blackbird.

I definitely think the artist had a message here.

      1. There has to be a message, we just need to piece it together.
People who were brought into the US as small children are called “Dreamers”. There was an act while George W Bush was president to try to pave a way for those people to become citizens, which is when they became the Dreamers. Of course right now that dream is in peril.
Could that be what the mural is about? Hmmm
I think I like my first interpretation better, but who knows? Besides the person who painted it!
Of course, why do they only dream of soaring above the fray? To escape prejudice/racism/homophobia/sexism/etc? That could lead back to the other meaning for Dreamers…

    1. You’re welcome, Luisa!
I find this most intriguing. I look for meaning in this piece of art.
      It’s a pleasure to share. 🌸🍒

  3. Nice mural, the colors are bringing me thinking about the war in Ukraine, but probable it has not anything to do with that, so mystery dreamers, half bird, half human…and yes nice song to relate to it. Thanks Resa for sharing !

    1. Jean Marc,
It’s difficult to know what the artist meant, but I can see your interpretation.
Whatever this painting means, it is filled with mystery and interpretations.
Thanks for checking it out! xx

    1. I don’t know, Robbie?

Someone pointed out there is a compass by the other bird feet.

I associate keys with freedom…getting out from behind a locked door.

Maybe the dreamers will fly to freedom. Maybe Freedom is their dream?

    1. Thank you, Dan!

      I love it too.

Did you fall off of my notifications? Have you been writing your story?

Ah, I just checked,I only missed 1 episode. It’s a fab tale, so far!

      1. This mural tells an intriguing story. I haven’t posted in a while. This has been one of those winters that hides the light from us. I do hope spring will bring relief.

        1. Yes, it was a dark winter here, too!
There will be some relief soon.
However, there are so many dark energies out there, they tend block the sun’s light.

          1. I certainly agree on the dark energies. I’ve never felt it so much as I do now. However, I see our rescue in the arts, literature, and music. There is where the greatest parts of being human reside when the darkness comes.

            1. The arts are keeping me spiritually fed!
The darkness might starve my body with its mean and hateful uncaring of the masses.

              1. I have witnessed with my own sad eyes, how simple people can step up in the horror of war and conflict to offer love, nourishment, and kindness instead of hate and revenge. It changes people’s life trajectory from destitution to hope.

  4. It’s hard to look away from these faces. I suppose everyone will have their own interpretation. We all have dreams, and dreams are surreal.

In the US, the dreamers are immigrants who came here as children, mostly undocumented. They’ve grown up here, went to school, etc. The Dreamers Act (DACA) was supposed to protect them, but it was not passed by Congress.

    1. You’re right Merril. There are many interpretations.

Yes., DACA… I remember that. The first time I heard of the Dreamers was when Obama was trying to get a path to citizenship for them.

It seemed like a logical thing to do, and I don’t understand the mean spirit and cold hearts that prevented that from happening.

I think possibly those mean hearts voted for …. him 🤮 … cutting noses to spite faces, and still support him.

Gee, I wonder if he 🤮 plans to deport them all.

If it’s no good for people and the country, I think he’ll do it!

        1. Yikes!
I was busy this morning, and haven’t read her newsletter, yet.
          It’s so horrifying.
I just watched James Carville answer a woman’s question:
Is it possible ⚪️💩 (hair is white now) can call for martial law if massive protests continue, thereby be in position to omit the mid-terms?

          Answer – Yes

          It’s not even 100 days.

I love these tender, benign chimerae. The one with the feet of a woman carries the key, and the one with the feet of a bird, the compass rose. Items useful for navigating and unlocking the secrets of any world, whether dreaming or waking.

  6. Interesting technique – I wonder what the compass and the key are meant to represent My dreams generally make no sense at all – last night I dreamt that I was making chocolate fudge!

    1. I’m not sure what the compass and key mean. Maybe dreams show the way and unlock potential?

      Chocolate fudge, eh!

Hmmm, did you go to bed hungry?

OR perhaps you were having the true meaning of a Sweet Dream”!

  7. Beautiful artwork.. Two Love Birds… Within a Dream… I am happy to be part of the Dreamer’s Club Resa…. and Dreams are a Huge part of holding the Key to our future… Without our Dreaming, we would not be creators!… Dreams set us free, without the ‘Dream Key’ we are tied down, by the ankles, to think via the Machine of the Matrix’s indoctrinations..

‘AI ‘cannot dream…… Only replicate…. 🙂 it creates only from the source of our creations which it enhances…

May our Dreams continue to propel us forward into creating that which we wish our future world to be….

Loved this share Resa…. You find some great pieces of artwork xx ❤

    1. I agree Sue!

AI… UCH!!!! (although II do like that it can spot forest fires before they turn into forest fires. “They” need to focus on those types of applications, as opposed to what it seems to be being used for)

I was thinking of an old saying, and applied it to AI. “Those that can do. Those that can’t use AI.”

Love the “Dream Key”. That is very cool.

I love your comments Sue. They are always filled with light, and positivity.

Yes, I do find some great art in the alleys. I love the hunt, and it keeps me moving and healthy.

      I am so fortunate!

      ❦❦❦🌹❦❦❦

      1. We are both very fortunate Resa…. I dislike AI but I did use it in my last post lol… And it did deliver that which I had asked it to 🙂 haha…. But all the artwork is poached from Human artists that it then generates into a picture…
I agree… AI is being used in the wrong way most of the time..

But I do feel there are many more now, Dreaming a New Reality… more organic than the one the overlords wish us to live in..

Sending much love my friend.. Happy Easter to you xx ❤

        1. It’s the poaching that hurts.

          Happy Easter dear Sue!
Crazy, but we are having an election in Canada, and the advance polls are open over the Easter weekend. Looks like I’ll be voting on Good Friday!

            1. Yes, he is running, and is my choice.
The other option is a mini trump.
I just know it’s going to be a good Good Friday.
Yahoo, my creative mojo is back!
              xoxoxoxo

  8. We all travel the “world and the seven seas” seeking something… and maybe, the key was within us — may be in our dreams or in our deep realm— all along to open our own mysterious self. Compass shows guidance to this realm, that too with us. 3 dimension of self… Id,ego, superego. Ego is the yellow part_Meeting point of id( instinct)and superego( moral).

  9. This is dreamy for sure Resa and such great captures. Well done. My dreams have been intense these days. I’m going to think of this shot tonight and hope they shape mine into dreamy places!!! 💕

    1. Thank you, Cindy!
Dreams when I sleep are a mystery to me.
Yes, mine have been intense too.
Please do find dreamy places that are beautiful, sunny and positive.

  10. You know every time you find another mural and even better share it with us, I think there’s no bettering this AND then you do it again. The colors, the faces are simply breathtaking. I am awed looking at this. Thank you Resa, for always making the world a good place.

    1. Oh my!
      Thank you dear Shey!
Art is powerful. Street art is amazing because it’s free…out there for all to see.
I do want the world to be a good place. We each need to do a little share. xxxxx

  11. These two modern day angels in the sky, spreading their dreams out to all the writers and the painters and the poets and the lovers. I love this.

    1. Thank you Klausbernd!
It is an unusual and intriguing work of art.
Warm regards to you and the other Fab 3!

A surreal and interesting mural, I appreciate the close ups so as to admire/observe how they are applying the paint, a stippling effect I have not seen previously is pretty sweet.

I went through the photos twice before I realized you had not included a car window reflection shot, lol.

Is all the art you post in and around the area where you live? or do you travel to find the art? I have a few choice murals in my city here along the Lake and was thinking about taking some photos and using your car window perspective to show you what we have here.

Or if those are too forward of questions, I am not really a busy body, just curious.

    1. Thank you!
      No worries.
There was no car at this location, but when there is I make whatever use of it I can.
I’ve also been able to use puddles a few times.

I get much of what I post locally. However, pre covid I was collecting from regular trips to Winnipeg. They have an incredible mural program there.

Also,I have posted many guest submissions.
Thank you for visiting and commenting!

  13. The painter definitely has a hundred thousand points, if not more! It is a fascinating imaginary mural with a fabulous fantasy of making two bird-human figures flirting! That must be an image of dreamers for dreamers.
Thank you, dear Resa, for this amazing view.

    👍🤗🌻👏❤️🙏

    1. You are welcome, Aladin!

It’s great that it stimulated your thoughts. It a piquing piece.
Dreamers… for dreamers, yes, and now to dream!
      x🤗🌻❤️o

    1. It really is unique, a thrilling find.
Great to see you! I think you have been a very busy dahling!
      REnewed??? Nooooo, not renewed!!!!

  14. “The Dreamers” is a remarkable mural. To me, the imagery of women adorned with wings symbolizes freedom, aspiration, and the power of dreams. I find that the artist invites me to reflect on my personal aspirations. Through its unique and vibrant artistic expression, “The Dreamers” resonates deeply with me. Thank you Resa for finding this mural treasure and sharing it with us!! WOW!!!

    1. You are welcome, Rebecca!
It was one of those tasty moments when I found this.
I visited with the art for almost half an hour, before tearing myself away.

It was so perfect: the art, the climate, the feel, the space, even the alley seemed pristine. I thought it was until I looked at pics later and realized that there was in fact garbage.

Much interpretation has come through the comments, but honestly, it just enveloped me.
I didn’t start to think of meaning until I was making the post.

      ART!!!!!! Hugs!

      1. I find that to be my experience as well, Resa. It seems that special moments like this take time to penetrate. It is as I look back, that I recognize the detail. But I will always remember what it felt like, at the first, to be “enveloped.” Sending many hugs.

  15. Oh wow!! How serendipitous that you came across this as you were daydreaming, Resa! It definitely has a dreamy quality about it… the huge eyes are so striking, too!

Great choice of song lyrics there, I LOVE Annie Lennox! Sweet dreams are indeed made of this… XOXO

    1. Thanks Ruth!
It is a most unique mural. It was easy to linger there for quite awhile.
Annie is an amazing singer, and “Sweet Dreams” is a special song!
      XXOO

      1. It’s definitely unique and captivating! It’s amazing what you could find on your walks, and thanks for sharing it with all of us, Resa!!

        XOXO

    1. Ahh, thank you Liz!
      Fab comment
Yes, something to think about. I’m only so/so educated on Greek mythology, and off to check on the harpies!
Yes, the calm before, but I feel the storm crossing the lake.

  16. I have been studying this golden egg. Such a special piece of art. I look at their faces, and I see so many things. I see the longing and dreaming, of course. Perhaps I am nuts but I would like to share what I see when I look at this, perhaps it is the times, and maybe my mind is somewhat in a constant state of thinking about what was and what could be again.

I see a stunning African American man or woman and a beautiful white woman. I see the woman bound with an entwined sense of one with this man/woman but one she can not be free to give her whole self to because of the restraints that bind her. The figure on the right holds a compass, and I feel that they wonder where they can go to truly live their dream without fear of harassment.

The dream of better days, an unlocking of her binds and people’s perception of right and wrong and what ties their dreams. I sense a sadness in their faces and I can feel it when I look at what is a deeply felt love.

What a bewildering sense I get while studying this piece of street art. I love it and it is an honor to be able to look at the captured images you managed to obtain, Resa. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful post, Rene and Resa, much gratitude for posting gorgeously captured images of such a thought-provoking piece of art. Always a privilege. Thank you and sending you both hugs and love, Joni

    1. Thank you for your wonderful comment, Joni!
You have a fertile & beautiful imagination.

It’s hard to know what artists are saying, but finding freedom to love who you want, do what you want is a theme many have picked up on here.

I feel sure out has something to do with freedom, because of the key.
Keys unlock doors, jail cells and figuratively hearts.

The main thing I know, Is that I was thrilled to find this piece of art, and that I lingered with it for about a half and hour.

I found more art today, so today was fulfilling. Art moves me.

Sending love and hugs back to you Joni!

    1. Miss you too, Charlie. Things have been crazy, and I don’t know where it’s all going.
I had a bad infection and was on antibiotics for weeks.
I will check out your music podcasts soon. I do so enjoy them!

        1. Actually, it was 3 weeks.

It was a cat claw gouge. Bit of a story. My right hand looked like a balloon, and I was sick from the pills.

I couldn’t sew or draw.. could barely be a the computer.

I’m back in action now, and trying to catch up. More like begin agian.

Anyway, you are so kind to ask, Charlie. Thank you!

No, I don’t have WhatsApp. I’ll see you soon on YouTube! HUGS!

          1. oh…no…what you are telling me sounded awful.
And you are welcome. I’m always trying to check up on my friends and making sure they are doing okay. Glad you are feeling strong again my friend. You are a warrior. 🙂

  17. These are beautiful works of art, Resa. The yellow inspires, reminding me of hope, and the blue, a dreamy mindset. I believe dreams, whether we’re asleep or daydreaming, can be the key to achieving goals. I love the facial expressions, and I love the song! Sweet dreams (almost), my friend! 💛💙😴 xoxo

    1. Dear Lauren,
Yes, dreams are a part of life wherever they take us or what ever they do.

It’s a wonderful mural. There seems no end to the arts. Thank goodness!

            1. Ahhh, welcome home!
Oh man, It’s been such a crazy 4 months. You were lucky to grab a break.
I grab mine in the alleys, or as in today, the Art Gallery!
              HUGS!!!

    1. Welcome, Diana!
      Sorry for the late reply!
Ive been busy drawing a post for Art Gowns.
      The Mail fiasco is over!
I’ll mail you with my address again! xx

            1. I agree, Diana. Perhaps the world is too crowded now. I don’t know, but meanness is popular.
With examples like that poor man, Kilmar Garcia, it’s not a wonder.
People are willing to put themselves in a peril they do not think applies to them, just so they can be mean.

                  1. Yes, there’s another one! His name is Merwil Gutiérrez and he’s only 19.
The young man with the Autism Awareness tattoo, Neri Jose Alvarado Borges, is also horrifying.
                    It’s really scary here.

                    1. I agree. I have been following.
I may NEVER forgive (harsh words for me) those who voted for that stain on humanity.
Anyone who has been paying attention is afraid to go to the states.

    1. I can see that.
The thing is, you thought of something.
If art doesn’t provoke thought, is it art?
      Just thinking out loud.

    1. Thank you! Yes, the rabbit is lovely. I was too busy over the Easter weekend to answer comments, but wanted to share the rabbit.
      So, I turned off comments.

Thank you for your visit and I do appreciate when bloggers say something, if they see something might be off.
      One never knows.
