Going Squirrelly

I’m getting a weird plug-in message when I use the classic editor.

Research said it’s related to my theme, or the classic editor.

So, I’m trying the block editor and it’s not happening.

Anyway, fell in love with the squirrel when I saw it, but the sun was bright and made annoying shadows on the art.

Figured while I’m in the blockhead, enjoying a learning curve, I might as well try a feature! I chose image compare.

The first one is full sun and shadows. The second one is 3 hours later. There was 1 thick cloud over the sun. I had about 5 minutes to shoot the squirrel.

Before the merciful cloud, I went back after about 2 hours and got this shadow.

All in all, squirrelly.

    1. I didn’t even know I was using Jetpack. I’ll look into getting rid of it! Someone else was telling me about them not using it, for privacy reasons I believe.
As I didn’t think I was using it, I didn’t bother looking into it.
      Thanks Matt!

I continue to use the browser version of WP and mostly everything because honestly the app versions usually have way too many glitches.

        1. I use the browser too… on my computer.
          I’m App resistant.
Too many APPs. I don’t trust.
I’m finding the blockhead editor is okay.

      1. I used Jetpack on my phone. It was okay for a while but now I got the message that the app doesn’t support inserting happy faces or hearts. I’m going to delete the app tomorrow and go back to WP app on my phone. For my computer, I haven’t started using Jetpack as far as I know.

        1. It collects Spam for Akismet.
There’s other features, not necessary, but they need to be engaged. I haven’t engaged them.

      2. Thanks Liz!

So, I checked the Jetpack, and the only thing I’ve engaged is SPAM. Every other option is off.

Perhaps it’s a plot to get us to use the blockhead editor? Anyway, it’s not so bad. I started using it for reblogs. You have to if you want to say something about the post you’ve reblogged.

        Slowly, I learned it.

  1. Love the squirrel , not the squirrelly issue. I am sticking to the browser , I have enough glitches. I hope you get it either out right away. Sometimes these crazy things just go the same way they came, all of a sudden.
    xo🐿🐿 xo

    1. I agree! WP works in a world of its own. I’m finding the blockhead editor to be okay!

Got a good start on her last night. See where it goes tonight. I might try a bit of a different style.
The band was amazing last night.
When it rains it pours. Sasha sounded the best since his operation. NOW, he is going in for shoulder surgery.
          xo🐭🐭ox

          1. Good for you! I saw a pic of her with a mic and also one hiding a cigarette. Still listening to her , such an an I guess talent.
Omg, shoulder surgery. I guess that’s not uncommon for drummers. Sending lots of good vibes.

  2. Great squirrel! Glad that you were able to get it without all of those shadows. Yeah, they can be annoying.

Speaking of annoying, so may WP issues… I do use the browser version, not the app. It is still annoying. I think Jetpack might be part of it – not really sure, but I have seen the name come up when talking about stats.

    1. Shadows can work magic, or be defeating.
      Adore the squirrel.
Yes, Jetpack is involved. It is connected to Akismet Spam.
Still, when I checked there are other available options that I haven’t engaged. I won’t, as I don’t need those features.

      I dislike Apps! (paranoid)
      Thank you, Trent!!!

  3. It is easy to go nuts over that wonderful squirrel, Resa. It is also easy to go nuts over juggling all the curve balls WP likes to throw at us.

  4. That’s a beauty of a squirrel. I kinda like the shadows 😉

Yanno, I also use Jetpack but I use the browser version (I don’t even know how to use the app!!)

      1. So do I. Weirdly, that pop up you were getting, I was getting, too and then it stopped.
        💞🧚‍♀️🌟💞

  5. Hi Resa, loving the Squirrel but as others have said not a fan of WP issues! Though I have used the block editor for quite a while now.
I liked the compare feature you did as it reminds me of an advertising campaign for an insurance price deal comparison website company called Compare The Market Their ads are 3D animated stories featuring Aleksandr Orlov and Sergei, two Russian born anthropomorphic meerkats. Aleksandr sets up a price comparison website for insurance deals which he names “Compare the Meerkat” (<Market).
I think your next mission is to find a Meerkat mural! to compare. Thanks for sharing.

  6. I’m not sure I’d like a squirrel that large over my garage! But – wow – quite an achievement in proportions! Yes WP has definitely been wonky.

What a beautiful and fiery squirrel. Stupid WP. It gave me a lot of trouble with a video yesterday.

  8. As usual, wonderful find. Especially because that absolutely looks like the alley behind my old house in Riverdale. (as it looks like every house in every neighbourhood alley)

    1. I suppose it does look generically like a Toronto alley.
      Riverdale is a great area.
The squirrel is fun. I’ve got a plethora of street art to post. Will I ever get it all up?

Also, had a great day at the MOCA & the AGO is back up and running!
I’m drowning in art, and I’m loving it!
      Thank you JW!

  9. There are many WordPress mysteries that remain unsolved. But I know that I will find a treasure every time I stop by your place. I LOVE the colours of this mural.

    1. I hung in that area almost 3 hours waiting for a good cloud. Love the squirrel!
I wonder if Sherlock could solve the WP mysteries… Columbo… Sam Spade?

  10. I love squirrels, Resa! We only have grey squirrels but not red squirrels like Dan has. This mural is gorgeous. Great capture in sun and shade. WordPress is annoying all the time.

    1. Lol… yes, WP can be annoying. Still, you and everyone else are wonderful!
We have white squirrels in 1 park in Toronto.
They say it’s a genetic mutation.

  11. Squirrelly gorgeous! Love ALL the light / cloudy / sunny variations. Each one a brilliant in its own way and oh… what a cute squirrel!

  12. PU-HEW!!!!!!!When yous aid hosst the squirrel… Lol of course i knew what you meant. Just back from Prague so what a treat this post is. We got squirrels in our garden. They are racketeers of the first order and abso fab. x

    1. Welcome back Shey!
I hope we get to see some pics. Last time you shared some terrific shots.
Hahaha! Racketeers, yes, but cute ones.

              1. They have everyone in their pockets here making out that they are your squirrels only….. The parents broing the babies along the old walls and fences and show them where to get the food.

  13. I wonder if the artist only does snacking creatures…thanks for sharing! Not at all nutty 😅

I had no idea about jetpack though I have had issues with simple posting. It doesn’t schedule posts but it says it does then never posts them. Reported it a few times and the ap blames wp but I know they don’t have that issue because I didn’t have the issue until long after I started using jetpack. They don’t want to support the customers but somehow feel entitled to the position they fulfill. Thanks for sharing what you did, now I can leave the ap and go back to the window. I almost bought into their work avoidance.

    1. Lol! Snacking creatures… well the artist should do me then!
      Work avoidance…… hmm… yes!
Thank you for your fun comment!

  14. A good thing that Rosie our wayward, but adorable, gipsy doglet hasn’t seen this. Thankfully, when running at 36 mph (true) after squirrels she has failed, yet we cannot trust her. I’ve pointed out to her that squirrels are wonderful creatures, yet all she said back was, ‘Bark, bark, bark…breath in…bark, bark, bark.’ All the best, TOF

    1. Hello Frank!
      Squirrels are so cute.
The Blockhead is working fine for me. I suppose I’l be switching over on Art Gowns as well.
There are a few cool features I’ll take advantage of.
      Cheers!

        1. It is easy actually. I think it’s just annoying when one spends time learning a thing, then you have to learn it again, but slightly different.
We tend to join the resistance movement.

  15. Great catch! Thank you, Resa. You always stunned me with how you present your pictures that we can watch like videos. It’s possible to change it this time by moving the mouse and alternating between the shadow and the brightness. I wonder when she opens her Hazelnuts to swallow!😉😅🤗💖🐿

    1. Aladin, dahing!
Lol, there’s no feature for opening hazelnuts, yet. Coming soon to a squirrel near you!
      I adore finding the art.
      I love presenting the art.

  16. Loved the Squirrel Resa.. I have Jetpack on my phone but it doesn’t always behave… I do not think I use it in my computer, though I have seen the logo in the side bar on the Edit pages.. WP are messing around with lots of things that do not need fixing and making life more difficult to blog..

I do now use the block Edit, but it took a long while to master and it takes twice as long to edit a post…

AI is also wanting us to use it for writing posts too.. as there is a button now in the block edit for AI to assist you.. NO THANK YOU..

Thank goodness for Art and Natures distractions! 🙂 xxx Sending love your way Resa xx ❤

    1. I can’t blog on my phone. I’m too blind!
      My laptop is fine.
      What??? The AI blockhead?
      HELLLLP! Lol!
Yes…art and nature make my day, every day.
      Sending lve your way!

      1. Resa, I also want to send my condolences to you over your loss of Jeep… I know from my own experience of the loss of my own cats, and one from a stroke and that awful decision. … My thoughts have been with you, Sending Mega Hugs my friend.. ❤ ❤ ❤

        1. Thank you dearly, Sue!
I never saw a cat lose its hind legs before. Poor little thing was inconsolable.
I loved her and was kind and she slept with me until Dr. Nancy came.
I will miss all the joy she brought every day.
          Thank you again, Sue! ❦❦🌹🌹❦❦🌹🌹

  17. You’ll get used to block editor, Resa. It’s not bad, just different. (And as soon as you do, WP will change it. *Insert squirrelly laugh*).

I’m fond of squirrels and love this big guy. Thanks for sharing all the squirrelly shadows. It shows how hard it is to photo the murals that aren’t on a flat surface, something I hadn’t thought about. Thank goodness for the cloud! 🙂

    1. Aw geez! I’m just getting used to it. What could the change it to? The Squirrel Head Editor?

Yes, that cloud saved my day. I walked around in a street art void hood for almost 3 hours. Neat area though!

    1. It’s away terrific to find a freshly painted work, and I love the squirrel.
The blockhead is okay. It has some cool features.
      Thanks Brad!

  18. So sorry to hear about the health problems of your wonderful cat Jeep, Resa. 😦 My fingers crossed and best wishes for as much of a recovery as possible.

    1. Thank you, Dave! Jeep is gone. The stroke left her heart so weak, she passed with only a small amount of sedative.

  19. Hi Resa, this is a really lovely mural. I do like squirrels very much and I have a fondant one somewhere. I am so sorry to hear about your cat. Huge hugs ❤️‍🔥

  20. Hi Resa, sorry you were having squirrelly issues with WP, but I love this squirrel and the gorgeous colors! Copper used to go crazy every time he saw one on his walks. Now that he’s older, he just whines a little and that’s it. Shadow or no shadow, I love this! Hugs xoxo

    1. Hahaha! Copper jus whines at them now….. lololol.
OMG! This is one welcome laugh.
      Thank you Lauren! xo❦❦xo

  21. Kind of you to give us a bit of everything – shadow and bright. Bright surely shows the map we see, but there’s something about shadows that appeals to me.

Doing my imitation of a glacier right now.

  22. I love the fire tail of this squirrel mural but my thoughts are with you right now Resa. I’m so sorry to hear about your cat.
    Hugs.

    1. It’s a great squirrel. I know some think they’re tree rats, but I’m fond of them.
The ones in Chinatown, when I lived there were the mangiest I’ve ever seen.
The ones where I live now are all fluffy and gorgeous.
Poor Jeep. I love her so. Thank you! ❦❦

  23. A great squirrel, Resa.

So sorry about your cat. (I couldn’t bring myself to put a like on that post. There should be another button for such circumstances…)

    🙏🏻💕

    1. Thank you, Brian! I miss Jeep a lot.
I know what you mean about the “Like” button not always seeming appropriate.
