Queen Amidala – Star Wars

Although I have never seen a Star Wars movie, I did recognize this fence mural as from the franchise.

So, I sent a pic to my main pal from this universe – Tyeth – For Tyeth Saber Site

Tyeth – “Oh wow! That is unreal! I think the artist has used the colour palette used on the Phantom Menace cover art for the Blu-Ray edition boxes (which is a blueish-purple). It gives this mural a real powerful feel to it, especially having Darth Vader on the left and Master Yoda opposite him.”

Tyeth – “That is Queen Amidala in the centre, during the time when she was presiding on the throne. This is her wearing one of her ceremonial outfits (based on real life Mongolian fashion) and headgear.”

Tyeth – “Her makeup is very symbolic and the mark on her lower lip (which when viewed in normal colours is red) represents the blood and people of Naboo that were lost in the planet’s first war many centuries before.”

Tyeth – “Queen Amidala was the youngest ever queen to be crowned at only 15 years of age – it was a Naboo tradition to coronate young rulers as they tended to be less jaded and cynical”.

Tyeth – “In the movie (Phantom Menace) Queen Amidala also known as Padme was played by two actresses: Natalie Portman and by Keira Knightley, who acted as a decoy in some scenes. In real life the two actresses looked so alike their own mothers mistook them for each other!”

Tyeth –Why can’t I find awesome art like this in my neighbourhood?”🤔

I don’t know. It’s paint on a fence, in an alley.

Obviously, this post is dedicated to Tyeth

Also giving a shout out to Ford – The Vintage Toy Advertiser  He is the 2nd most Star Wars fan I know.

The art is unsigned, as far as I can see. Love to know who did this!

    1. Yes! I was not expecting this, but I am thrilled.
I never know what I’m going to find, Liz. It’s part of the fun of mural hunting.

A beautiful painting. I would not have known who she was, but I recognize Vader or Mal and Yoda? I saw the first Star Wars when it came out in the late 70s and loved it. Years later I saw a sequel and hated it and never bothered with another Star Wars movie.

    1. If I didn’t know Tyeth, I would know nothing of Star Wars. Still, somehow I knew this painting had something to do with it.
The marketing must have remained in my head, and Ford (TVTA) collects Star Wars things, amongst other vintage toys, posters, catalogues and more.

Star wars is part of the universal culture now. Therefore, we recognise its style. On the 4th of May several people at the office brought Star Wars paraphernalia to work. I was like “What’s up with all the Star Wars stuff?” and they said “May the 4th be with you!” I should have known.

    1. Lol! That is the most different congrats I’ve ever received.
I’m a huge fan of the original Star Trek series, and movies, but after that my outer space adventures more or less ended. I didn’t want to cheat on William Shatner!

    1. Well TOF, it wasn’t exactly in a galaxy far away….it was in an alley not too, far away.
However, I’m not sure what is more scary, a new galaxy or an alley. There’s rats in many alleys. Of course I’ve befriended them, but that’s beside the point!

  2. Hello Resa, thanks for the sneak peek of this spectacular space mural….I was impressed, very impressed!
Also thanks for the kind comments on my in-universe knowledge and the shout outs for myself and my friend TheVintageToyAdvertiser. May The Force Be With You!

    1. This post was so much fun to make.
I’m thrilled you shared your knowledge. Tyeth, you made me look good!
May the Force Be With You………..Too!!!!

  3. Oh, what a great find, dahling! And thank you to Tyeth for all the backstory on Amidala and the mural. I’m like Tim on Star Wars. 😉
    Love and many hugs and…..

    1. It was the drabbest alley. I turned the corner and Bingo!
      I leave no alley untrodden!
I’m worse than you and Tim. Except I did watch an episode of The Mandalorian last year, as I was voting for the EMMYS.
I can’t vote for or against shows, if I never watched. I take my membership privileges seriously.
We will be nominating in a week. I’m so excited!

    1. I didn’t know either. It was the 2 side characters that made me think Star Wars. Good thing I know Tyeth. I adore the colours, too!

    1. Hello there, so glad you liked the commentary, Star Wars has always been a part of life for me in one way or another but this mural was on another level. And I have great news, the Star Wars story spans a whole NINE movies so you have plenty to catch up on!

        1. There is something for everyone in the films… politics, intrigue, action, adventure, space battles, love and romance, good and evil, Light and Dark….oh and lots of “laser swords” known as lightsabers! It’s a great way to mix with a varied bunch of people.

      1. I bet. His enthusiasm was felt through your share! I saw the first three, then the first of the prequels and thought. Nope. I’m done.

        1. LOL! I never even started. Anyway as a fan of the original Star Trek series and movies, I feel I’ve done the space thing. Also, I would never want to hurt William Shatner’s feelings. xoxo

    1. I think so too, that it is a difficult canvas. All the spaces are defeating, yet the artist did a great job! You have a great weekend too, Michael! xx

    1. Ah… are the kids still Star Wars fans? Are you… or was it just for the kids. I’ve never seen a SW movie. However, I’m an old die hard Star Trek (original series & movies) fan! xoxo

      1. I think they’ll always be fans, even if they’re adults now (27 & 30). It was more of them and my husband, but I liked some of the movies, too. I’m just not tuned in 100% to know all the characters. Star Trek is also a favorite. Not to mention, all the Jurassic Park movies. All entertaining! 🙂 xo

    1. A pick me up….yaya!!!!
Tyeth is a unique artist. He designs light sabers.
I design Art Gowns out of trash, so I get it, even though I have never seen a SW movie! 💞

    1. What’s crazy is that I have never seen a SW movie, but I recognized it immediately.
How’s that for being popular and well marketed? xx

                    1. Ahh, you see, it’s all new to me. I know the names, but not the faces. I know naught of the Lakers story, or ya know… that time in basketball.
I’ve seen 5 eps. now! I’m so digging it! xo

                    2. It’s getting a nom from me – best series – best costumes – best production design ❤️❤️

Not trying to torture you, but I’m watching “A Very British Scandal” right now (front credits rolling) via the Emmy viewing platform. I’m doing the screen in screen thing.
Thing is I have access to ALL shows, every station, every platform, until end of August. Noms announced mid July. Then we vote for 2 weeks mid to end of August.
Right now I’ll say this could very well get Best Costumes in a limited series.
I took a look at all offerings. WOW!!!
Some I can watch on TV… other I’ll have to watch via the viewing platform on my laptop.
There’s a new docu on Muhammad Ali, but I can’t get it on TV, yet. I’ll watch it on the VP.
                      Okay
                      Righteous Gemstones – 3rd season ❤️
Oh there’s a George Carlin 3 parter that I get on my tv. watched 1.5 hours. Excellent
Have you seen Tokyo Vice? ❤️❤️❤️ I got it on my TV. In love with this!
Watched “Fight Attendant” , and am watching “Hacks” with dinner.

“My Brilliant Friend”, Black Monday… so many more! Will keep you posted. You are my official EMMY pal!
No one else wants to hear me rave.
                      Mouah!

                    3. I’ve been curious about the George Carlin series, and the British Scandal as well. The Flight Attendant I can watch. As for Tokyo Vice, I never heard of it.

You’ve got quite a list! And I will be delighted to listen to your raves and rants Resa.

Your EMMY pal? I’m honored, truly.

                      MUAH!

                    4. Give Tokyo Vice a try! So cool. Yakuza & a young American reporter in Tokyo. I got this on my TV.
I got the Carlin series on my TV. Maybe you do too. It’s excellent.
I tallied up the shows all vying for a nom.
There are 738 entrants. Whew! No way I can watch all.
                      MUAH!!!

                    5. YES!

                      738 – as in seven-hundred and thirty-eight.
Carlin & Tokyo Vice don’t have the $$$ like some other shows. Let me know your opinion!
I get an EMMY magazine every month, and the $$$$ that goes down to promote shows is sick. Of course one wants to watch those.
                      Nonetheless I consider all.

“My Brilliant Friend” is an unknown masterpiece!

Ted Lasso is back up. I have never watched it,(due to my erm…love of sports) so I could never nom or vote for it, but it’s promoted like crazy. (In all honesty, I cannot vote for a show I have not seen) It won lots of awards last year.
                      Have you watched this?
Okay, time to eat and go watch “Hacks”!

Will keep you updated with shows!
                      Eeeee! MUAH!

                    6. Seven hundred and thirty-eight freaking shows! Whoaza!

I’ll let you know my thoughts on ’em. 😉

                      My Brilliant Friend, huh?

And no, I have never seen Ted Lasso. Never really was compelled to see it either, because when something is plastered all over the place, I kinda get turned off to the whole process. Especially when I start to think about how many of the shows I have truly loved, I just kinda fell into them. Or came to them later after all the crowds had moved into something else.

                      Please do!

                      MUAH!

  4. This is amazing wall art, so perfect , I don’t know how the artist was able to paint such intricacies on a wooden fence. I enjoyed reading Tyrrhenian comments too. Love you gf!
This didn’t appear in my notifications so I’m going to it the refollow button!
    xoxoxo

    1. It was exciting to find this. I’m not a SW fan, but the ones I know are OTT!!! I knew they would love it!
Yeah… the follows can slip away. I get them for you, but Gi, I can’t get it back. Nonetheless, I have you both on speed links!
      xoxoxo

    1. The art is fab, especially painted on that rickety old fence!
It was difficult taking pics with the light shining through. Well, street art, get it while you can!

    1. I’m thrilled this made your day.
You 2 are my Star Wars pals.
Tyeth puts so much effort into his sabers, it was only natural that I send him a preview. The beauty is that I got a commentary. Perfect!
When I turned into that alley that came off an alley and saw this, I knew it was SW.
      MTFBWY – 2! xoxo

  5. So cool! I remember being introduced to Star Wars as a teen with a bunch of friends. We had a sleepover and stayed up all night watching one movie after another. Now I go to bed around 10 – No more all-nighters for me if I can help it lol

  7. Wow, what a great find! And thanks to Tyeth for explaining it all to you and you then letting us all know (I knew most, but not all of the background details).

Speak your art mind!
