Mandela Mandala

In my desire to do a tribute to Nelson Mandela,

I looked for days through my street art collection.  I came up with this beautiful Sunflower that has all of the colors of the flag of South Africa in it.

Mandela #1

A mandala is a symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the Universe. The basic form of most mandalas is a square containing a circle with a center point.

Mandela #3I found this art in a doorway in Ottawa. The artist is unknown to me.

Good-bye Mr. Mandela, the whole world loves you!

In Remberance

IN FLANDERS FIELDS

by John McCrae, May 1915

Artist: Charlie Johnston
Artist: Charlie Johnston

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Rememberance #3

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
