Robbie’s Cats

From Queen Push Push at home,

To a Queen in the jungle,

To a fondant kitten,

… to a scream in the jungle,

Robbie’s cats take on a deeper meaning – the knowledge, respect and caring of all wildlife.

She has photographed, videoed, written story books & poetry, painted, blogged and fondanted her message into the world and into my heart.

Time to shine a star!

The idea to spotlight Robbie’s work began with a post I did on GLAM that featured street art with kittens. (click on the pic below to see the post)

Robbie was then inspired to respond with fondant kittens.

This is my response.

Robbie lives in South Africa and has access to seeing its wildlife. The following shots (& more) of hers are available for free at UNSPLASH ROBBIE CHEADLE

I have read many of her children’s books. Her books teach and have taught me, an adult. In “Sir Chocolate and the Fondant Five” I learned about the Big Five in Africa.

Do you know who the “Big Five” are?

Well, they are the “Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino & Buffalo”. I found these videos on Robbie’s YouTube channel. They are only seconds long, so have a watch!

* Note: I couldn’t find a leopard video, so the Cheetahs are filling in.

Robbie’s YouTube Channel is a creative depot, with readings, recipes and animals. There are also videos of monkeys, birds, giraffes, waterbucks, hippos, kudu, zebras, wild dogs, insects and more.

Robbie writes with her son Michael Cheadle, who shares her love of nature and desire to help protect it. I haven’t read “Neema the Misfit Giraffe”, but am bound to.

A prolific creator, she will have another book out before I post this. “Square Peg in a Round Hole: Poetry, Art & Creativity”

You can find her books on Amazon sites around the globe. Just search “Robbie Cheadle” for children and youth books – “Roberta Eaton Cheadle” for adult books.

Some of her books are also available on KOBO.

Finally, flowers don’t scream. However her photos of them, like this Magnolia, sure do.

Kittens Under a Bridge

While on a streetcar going to the east end to look for art, I saw this,

…. under a bridge,

… in the dirt,

… on pieces of cut out and painted wood.

Several stops later, I disembarked the streetcar, and walked back.

It was a dry day. Brand new white sneakers were upon my feet.

It was difficult to capture the scene in its entirety, as it was low to the ground,

… and there was a yellow cable holder right in the centre.

The only spot I found where the full shots could be taken from, was in rather wide, deep patch of muck.

Best way to break in new sneakers, ever!

Springing Forward aka The Dreaded DST

Timothy Price wrote a song about the Dreaded Daylight Savings Time. He then made a video for it using AI.

The song and video are funny & entertaining. To view the original post and the video in its full glory, click on Tim’s AI pic above! The video didn’t reblog, so I am reposting a lower resolution here.

The Dreaded DST
Lyrics and Music by Timothy Price
Inspired by Marina Kanavaki

Daylight blinds fools who have no skills
They create silly rules they are so unreal
Daylight’s scarce, why don’t we care?
We save it eight months out of… every year

Bedtime at ten feels like nine
Don’t feel sleepy? Have more wine
It’s midnight damn, the bottle’s empty
I’m still awake… I’m feeling pretty cranky

Now we’re on the dreaded DST
Body clocks are broken why can’t we see
That hour we save every single day
Is two-hundred forty hours of daylight that we have… stashed away

Alarm at five it feels like four
Like a zombie, I hit the door
Preparation-H on the old toothbrush
Toothpaste up my… Whew! What a rush

No time to shower, sleepin’ on the job,
Stinkin’ up the office, what a slob
Head bobs up and down, fishing at the screen
My boss is cranky… making quite a scene

Now we’re on the dreaded DST
Body clocks are broken why can’t we see
We can look forward to falling back
We get one hundred twenty hours of daylight from… our stash

We’ve changed to DST for 56 years
That’s six-thousand seven-hundred hours, my dear
Of daylight, we’ve been banking away
So let’s go spend it on our… sanity

Now we’re on the dreaded DST
Body clocks are broken why can’t we see
That hour we save every single day
Is two-hundred forty hours of daylight that we have… stashed away

Face w/ Cat Bonus

I liked this a lot when I found it in Kensington Market.

It fell into the un-posted hoards in my photos archives.

Due to the lockdown, I haven’t been able to leave my extended hood for over a year.

Holly – House of Heart suggested I comb my photos stash. I found about 50 pieces. Thank you, dahling!

CAT BONUS

This cat has been on top of the world, ever since I can remember. It’s on the way out of Kensington Market, on Dundas West.

Hopefully the stash will help until some more art pops up in my walking zone.

Cat’s Third Eye is a Gem

Found this on a garage door a few blocks from home.

I’d like to hit some other alleys in the city, but I won’t take public transportation to get there and back.

I can do a 3 – 4 hour walk.

A few times I got a ride from N to a place where it’s a 4 hour walk back home.

Fortunately, I have lots of pics stashed!
