This sweet piece is from the same alley’s garage doors I have recently been showing.
I adore the naivety.

Winnipeg’s Mural Of The Year – 2015

Risking sounding insensitive; I respect the mural, however, it is not my fave from 2015. I feel it was politically judged, rather than artistically judged. I have felt this, or sometimes that the art and politics are both a recipe for winning MOY. If that is the criterion, then why did the Nellie McClung Mural not win MOY 2016? I adore the mural that won, but it has nothing on Nellie and her gals getting women the vote.

Moving on: A truck blocked part of the left side of the mural.

Here are some close-ups.

I had to go around to shoot what the truck blocked on the left of the mural.

I shot the above Mountie & below, Tam Nguyen who owns the building the mural is painted on.

Tam Nguyen receives his Canadian citizenship.

This is one fierce kitty-kat!
So, as I’m capturing this, a same colored cat woman walks by. Perfect!

There’s a window in the cat’s mouth. It’s street art, working with what works.

World-renowned geneticist, environmentalist, and an awesome Canadian, I salute David Suzuki.
For all of my life, David Suzuki has enthralled me with his TV show The Nature of Things
Now in its 55th season, these weekly documentary programs are still informing, chilling and more important than ever.
It’s not a flashy, or pretty mural. It is simply David Suzuki’s head on a wall in an alley. Yet, I was honored to have found this mural on one of my expeditions.
It’s not a wonder that he has a foundation that supports and promotes the environment. Check it out! David Suzuki Foundation
David Suzuki is so amazing, he is in the Canadian Encyclopedia. David Suzuki in the Canadin Encyclopedia

The Art Groups:
I had to flee a bunch of vans and a couple of trucks, while taking pics of a mural.

I was forced around the corner onto a wee side street, and found this bit of joy.

These have got to be Blue Jays.
I found this in a skinny lane, across Harbord Street from where I found the garages.
I did my best to capture this 3 story mural.
However, due to the narrowness of the lane, and that a fab full shot could have been taken if I had stood in the middle of constant traffic, I went with this.
This is the second mural I have found with painted cut-outs on top of a painted background.
My heart beat faster than a bird’s wings when I found it.

Dear Belén, I’m so happy you flew with Lúa and Mar to the wedding!
As promised, here are the wedding photos. Sol’s wedding dress is very beautiful!
She can’t stop showing it off!
Didn’t you just love the look on Drake’s face when he saw Sol in the gown for the first time?
It was a beautiful ceremony.
Sol’s egg was a beautiful Flower Girl, even though it is not hatched, yet.
I thought Penelopoe The Witch did a lovely job presiding over the ceremony. I had no idea that Duck Weddings were so unique.
I loved the way Penelope led all of the Ducks in a quack-off as they circled over Drake and Sol, while they made their pledges to each other.
Of course, in duck weddings, the bride kisses the groom, and it was a beauty of a kiss.
Here’s the photo from prior to the ceremony, when the Wedding Party posed for a photograph. Click on it to see the full splendor!

Close ups of Wedding Party
I know you were just as excited as I was, when after the ceremony, Sol threw the bouquet.
I remember how happy we were when Ms. Zulu caught it.
Ms. Zulu was such a doll, handing out the Wedding Programmes. She’d like to remind everyone to take a souvenir Wedding Programme. (click on Programme to view &/or download)
Here’s a picture of the Wedding Cake, taken before the “INCIDENT”, which necessitated the last minute baking of chocolate cookies.

Special thanks to Anarette for bringing Benji and Ms. Zulu to the wedding
Special Thanks from Drake to: Mr. Wapojif, esteemed editor of “Professional Moron” for doubling up as groom and DJ.
The “INCIDENT” CAUGHT ON SECURITY CAMERA
Drake offers an explanation: Another duck, who looks just like him, has moved into the neighborhood. The cats hypnotized this “other” duck into craving Red Velvet cake, due to the dark rich chocolate.
After that, Drake pleads the Fifth.
Well, I hope you like all of the pictures. Before I go, Sol wants to show you her first fitting. Although she thought the purple was a bit dark, she thought it was a gorgeous option.
Love Resa
