I was out of town during the Waterford Walls festival this August, and only recently took some photographs, probably covering only a half of the walls. Yasja’sNorthern lights-inspired work wasn’t included in the festival map, but I knew it was a recent work. I would have noticed if it has been there before. Yasja is a brilliant artist from Amsterdam and I choose her work for my opening picture.

I walk wall to wall, and it takes me about two hours to see all these wonderful murals.

While cruising the British Isles in 2017, Belfast fascinated me. In my past post about Belfast, I opened the post with the following: Belfast, Northern Ireland is beautiful, interesting, and gut-wrenching – and we were only there for a part of one day. On one end is the natural beauty, architecture, vibrancy, and history – and the other end The Troubles – what the locals call the Northern Ireland Conflict (1968-1998).”

Belfast, Northern Ireland has a history of conflict – especially in the past one hundred years. Many of us remember the conflict from fierce conflict that raged their land from the 1960s well into the 1990s – a conflict centered around politics and religion. Today, Belfast is a beautiful city. Yet, visitors who have a sense of history about The Troubles carry a strange and troubling feeling during their entire stay.

After cruising the British Isles in 2017, we flew to Reykjavik, Iceland where we had an outstanding 4 day/3 night stay. Not only were the tours outside the city spectacular, the city of Reykjavik was a pleasant surprise.

With a population of about 110,000 (approximately one-third of the country’s population), Reykjavik was charming, quaint, active, and unique. Although I’ve already posted about the city, Reykjavik has an outstanding collection of murals! … and Resa would love them!

Although I originally planned a more informative look at the murals, this post (the first of my Closeout Tour) looks at some of the one’s I captured. “Resources” at the end offers links for more information and additional images of the beautiful murals in Reykjavik. Many of the murals in those links are stunning!

Her interpretation of my words is an 80’s futurism vibe,
blending psychedelic trance & sci-fi spectrum kaleidoscope colors.

She is a rock star and a brilliant painter/artist/poet/ designer/
& photographer. Much praise to her incredible work and contribution
to the arts and community. 🙂

Unzip the clock –
Inside
origins pulsate.
Every color hatches
a rotten piano.

The Flowers blend in with the art.

All the colors and the words awake the enigma eye.

The hot pink, black, green, & white looks so hypnotizing and spectacular.

The eye is unzipping the clock.

Revenge of the Egg

This is the 3rd time that the egg outside of the Art Store has been painted over.

The Egg is oval. However, when I used the Pano setting on my IPhone, it came out round. Go figure!

The top of the Egg was higher than me, and hard to capture. The Egg is about 6 feet tall. (1.83 M). The sun was high up, glaring upon the top of the Egg.

Still, an interesting challenge to capture it for us all.

This is a realistic side view of the Egg. Some may remember the first Egg I posted – Egg of Birdo

A car was blocking my ability to go all around the Egg, but the car was black & all clean and shiny. The next 4 reflections are lots of fun.
