  1. I Googled “transit box” and all I came up with was dog carriers. I am sure it has something to do with buses. My village has bus stops but no buses have ever been seen except for the one school bus from the rail station to the school.

      Yes, it is a "bus box" if you will. Or in Toronto, they are painting hydro boxes, electrical boxes, (wish they'd paint the Bell Boxes) as well as transit boxes. If there is a box in the street, good chance it's painted.
