Gal-lery I

Thank you Lauren for thinking of me and taking these fab shots of beauty for me!

It’s a wonderful feeling to be thought of!

I also love Cora’s Quest (her first children’s book) and King Copper, Ever So Gently and More Than Coffee (fine poetry collections). Head to her site for the links to grab one of these gift-able books!

I’ve done reviews of all of her books. Just put the title into the “Search” engine not too far down the sidebar, and go to it.

MONA OF KENSINGTON

“This iconic Kensington Market mural is finally complete — 43 years after it was painted on a dare.”

She’s miserably hard to shoot up high and through wires, but she’s always been there. With her wonky eyes, she was there on my first shopping trip to Kensington.

When I started collecting street art, I did take pics of her. However, she was crumbling & in b&w. This summer the original artist returned and finished her. Here’s an article about it!

Faces in Waiting

The first stunning multi-colour face was on a Magic Mushrooms shop.

This second face is on a shipping container used as a shop. A row of these container businesses line the Dundas West Skateboard Park “DUNBAT”

The third face was on a restaurant in Yorkville in 2020. It’s gone now.

THE VIOLINIST

I’d love to learn to paint white on black!

WOW! Watch Lindsey dress during the performance. Stunning!

April Showers in August

Actually this was found in October last year, but it’s August now.

April Showers paints on the oldest walls, corners, back alley doorways, crooked corner bits and other spots that need her beauty.

I’ve got a collection gathering, but this seems it should be on its own.

I adore her work, and no matter how dark the doorway,

or how crumbly the wall, her art makes it a lot better.

I hope to meet her one day, so I can thank her!

Cameo Blue

This reminds me of an antique coral & white cameo ring I have.

I like it in blue, too.

The profile is characteristic of a cameo carving.

The face, set in a circle, is cameo-like.

They were wildly popular with the Victorians, a renaissance from the Renaissance,

… in a Victorian garden.

The Artist:

So, you might ask outside of the fact that the band’s name is Cameo and that there is a blue hue to much of the video, what it has to do with Victorian or Renaissance cameos?

Nothing, but it’s got a great beat you can dance to and Larry Blackmon’s red cod piece is outstandingly hilarious!

Kitchen – The Painted House

It was mayhem, a potpourri of colour.

I fell in love with the tiger. I thought of all my cat pals.

Upon entering there is a face to the left.

Straight ahead, left side of the kitchen is another face and the stunning leopard head.

Everything was painted: the cupboards, the stove, the range hood, the walls, the windows and nothing was left to paint, except the paint itself.

So, the paint was painted.

On the right side is an all over abstract mural. I saw the eye, but didn’t see the face until looking at pics.

Here’s a slide show of some more kitchen bits.

Can You Spot the Fake Street Art?

A wall was painted for a scene in a movie. After the scene was shot, the wall was painted over. I knew from the first piece, that something was off. Let me know which one you thought was fake in comments. Answer at end of post.

They shot a movie once, in my hometown
Everybody was in it, from miles around
Out at the speedway, some kind of Elvis thing
Well, I ain't no movie star
But I can get behind anything.

When You Blow at High Dough - The Tragically Hip

“Eyes Without a Face”

It’s an old Billy Idol song.

His message is clear, yet living in an bohemian arts community at the time,

I thought “face without eyes” was more it.

Some died. Some just faded away.

Most is behind garbage can, but it is LUVSUMONE aka Moises Frank

Yes, I actually just went into someone’s yard and took these. I saw it from the street and couldn’t control myself.

A Rough Patch

Funny how art can hit one.

When I saw these 2 faces, I felt something I know but couldn’t put into words.

It’s got something to with that they are attractive faces,

but the wall is rough.

We all go through rough patches, now and again.

Perhaps that’s whyI love Graffiti Alley art so much.

It’s one big rough patch, but there’s good stuff in it.
