Drake & Rough Trade – En Graffe

Billboard has named DRAKE; the “Artist of the Decade”

I chose this song by Drake, because it was outta the gate the year after I worked with him, on “Degrassi the Next Generation”. He was a decent person, with respects and good work ethics.

ROUGH TRADE

This 80’s  Canadian band was fronted by Carol Pope & Kevin Staples.

Perhaps they were like a New Wave version of Alice Cooper?  You know rough, in an oddly sexy way.

They seem somewhere between Rock, Punk and New Wave; and I like them lots!

So cool, Carole Pope and Dusty Springfield had an affair! http://www.laventure.net/tourist/anti-diva.htm

It was difficult to pick a fave song. They had a lot of good ones.

Steve McQueen – Bullitt

Okay, I’ve always had  crush on Steve McQueen.

I cut this artist some slack, as he painted this on seriously rough stucco wall. Below is the poster the painting is a rendition of. There are many Bullitt posters, but I didn’t see the exact one the artist painted.

You can buy various size repros of the poster, starting at $25.00. However, I saw an original (1968 – mint condition) theatre size poster for sale in the U.K. £4,500.00.

MANY say the car chase in Bullitt is the greatest car chase ever filmed. I agree. It’s real. No CGI! Steve McQueen was credited with the driving during the chase sequence. Actually it was shared with Bud Ekins, one of Hollywood’s best stunt drivers.

The chase kicks in at 3 minutes, but dial it back to the beginning for the full effect of this 10 minute masterpiece.

In 2020, the green Mustang sold at auction for 3.4 million dollars.

She’s Not There

I saw a pic and had a rough idea where this was. Still, she wasn’t here, she wasn’t there! She was elusive. It was my last try. Ankle was giving out at hour 2.75.

Above: Taken from up on a fire escape. Below: Taken from the ground. This face is a wonderfully distorted beauty.

She’s guarding a parking lot for a Covid closed tavern. Around the corner is a lot of garbage and rat infested alley. (& I don’t mean rat art… hmm just noticed rat is an anagram of art)

She inspired me to go crazy, shoot her wildly.

Close-up on the ground.

On an angle, from the fire escape.

What a hectic presentation! Reminds me of my life right now, living through loud heavy construction. Timothy Price & I did a parody about it. Hopefully keeping a sense of humour about it all will help me get through it!

RAT or Possum or?

Used to be there were lots of rat and skull art in the alleys.

They have gone out of style. Recently skulls are popping up here and there.

I found my first rat in Graffiti Gallery in Winnipeg, when my niece Sherrie was driving me around muralling.

It was near Hallowe’en. The rat was on a pumpkin. I vowed to dedicate all rat posts to her.

Thrilled, I sent her a pic of this rat, immediately! Her hubs said Possum.

I dedicate this post to Sherrie, just in case it’s a rat!
