183 – Deep

Frank’s always interesting thoughts while walking on the beach may be intriguing, educational, colourful, ponderous, rooted in science, inspired, inspiring and more.
They are however, never shallow.
Take a walk with Frank and discover, if you haven’t already!

I like walking on the beach. It is good for the mind, body, and soul – and refreshing on my feet.

Deep is my theme for the day. Deep that is intense, heavy, extreme, profound, mysterious, and obscure. Deep expands the mind because deep is a trip through the known into the unknown. Deep is the travel route to make meaningful connections.

With the sea, I think deep as a distance from the surface and then down to the floor. Different depths receive different amounts of light, therefore suitable for different life forms.

Eventually, there is the darkest of deep – a place where light does not reach. A deep place without photosynthetic plants to serve as the producers to start the food chain. A deep place with other organisms able to…

Rodin’s Garden, Rodin’s Window, and Rodin’s… erm… Lego?

Ford visited the Rodin Museum in Paris. He took some brilliant shots for us. Later he was inspired to paint “Rodin’s Window”.
BEST… he made a LEGO sculpture of “The Thinker”. I am impressed!

Auguste Rodin. Le Penseur. The Thinker. Paris. 2022.

Last August, during a stay in Paris, I spent the day at the Rodin Museum. The museum was opened in 1919 as a dedicated space to display the works of French sculptor Auguste Rodin – famous for his works such as Le Penseur (The Thinker), Le Baiser (The Kiss) and La Porte de l’Enfer (The Gates of Hell). The museum consists of the Hotel Biron which Rodin used as his workshop from 1908, along with extensive gardens where many of his sculptures are placed in a natural environment.

Spending time in the sculpture garden was a chance to meditate upon art and nature; to marvel at creativity while under the spell of luscious greenery and a hot blue sky. Inside the museum – the Hotel Biron – came the chance to become overwhelmed by the thousands of sculptures, drawings and paintings on…

Aries the visionary fighter

Marina will be sharing some special Zodiac art by her father over the coming year. She’s starting off the spring with Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac. “Art Towards a Happy Day” is for all people, animals and our planet earth. Cheers to Marina!

[21 March – 19 April]

Today is the first day of Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac.

Aries is acardinal fire sign.

Visionaries with unparalleled ambition, generating bold and brilliant ideas, they’ll throw themselves headfirst into battle… the hard way to learn lessons but always look forward.

Starting from the last [12th] sign, I’ll be posting these original illustrations, Anakreon Kanavakis created for a calendar. [check it out here]

I love these so much, I designed a whole set of products with them at my art shop.

Here are a few.

Happy Tuesday, everyone and a great week ahead!

and… Happy birthdays to all Aries out there!

Weekend Serial — Atonement in Zugzwang Episode-4, featuring Robbie Cheadle!

Teagan is at it again!
Her new weekend serial is shaping up to be exciting. She’s only 4 episodes in, so it’s easy to catch up and enjoy her wonderful imagination.
Teagan uses random “things” from readers to drive her stories, and you can join in the fun.
I was honored to be a driving force in episode 2. More, I drew an image of Pepper, the star of “Atonement in Zugzwang”.

Fondant animals & barn by Robbie CheadleFondant animals & barn by Robbie Cheadle

Welcome back to Atonement, TN, everyone.   If you saw my post yesterday, then you know that this new installment of Atonement in Zugzwang was driven by a recipe (from which I chose 3 things) created just for this post by the amazing Robbie Cheadle.  Here’s a link to the post where you can learn all about that fabulous Black Bean & Vegetable Soup.

This episode is a little longer, and I’m sitting up late to finish writing it, and do this post.  So let’s get to business.  The three random things I took from Robbie’s recipe are: chopped, carrot, and soup.

Pepper learned that the body of her uncle, Wirt (Salty) Riley was missing.  In its place a mysterious blue bottle had been left.  Inside the bottle, they found a cryptic message, “

Video grab of firefighters in Michigan heroically rescuing a helpless dog trapped in an iced-over pond

Today’s good news comes from the Good News Network. Here is the story in its entirety.

Firefighter Lures Trapped Dog Off the Ice Using Treats–Then Lifts it Up a 10-Foot Wall

Patience, bribery, laughter, and a heck of a bicep muscle were all needed to rescue a helpless dog trapped after falling 10 feet into an ice-covered pool.

The Michigan animal shelter Pound Buddies received several “frantic” calls on March 7th about a dog trapped in the old water filtration pond.

The pond was frozen over, but with water clearly sloshing about over the ice, how long until the 60 lbs. husky plunged through was anyone’s guess.

Pound Buddies called in the Muskegon Heights Fire Department, which arrived “within minutes” to rescue the pup. Video footage shows the moment Lieutenant John…
