39 new works of art were painted on the way into, out of and inside an underpass near me.
First, The Cat
The tour begins just before we go under the rail bridge, about 1/3 of the way from the start.
This was my second trip to the city sponsored site. 3 days earlier I was privy to seeing all the artists painting.
On the first day, a security person informed me that there would be a clear coat going over all the art. It was a must to return before that happened.
On my second visit all paintings were done. Except on each side of the cat were 2 artists touching up their art.
The artist in the camo shorts is SKAM, a Toronto street art star. I was beside myself when I found out who he was.
The artist still painting is … I am so sorry, I forgot his name.
I thanked him a lot for his art and the time he spent with me.
I am humiliated. Hopefully I will be able to update this one day. His art is above.
Suddenly, my phone camera went dark
SKAM stepped in when he saw me near tears.
He explained the situation, and gave me a lesson re: some of the features of the camera, while taking the pic to the right.
On the way to the cat, close to the beginning of the gallery are Colin Tea & Jim Bravo painting. I know Jim, but did not want to disturb him.
Colin Tea’s painting was the 4th one from the start.
I wondered if Violet was a daughter or niece?
Jim’s painting was the fifth along the wall.
Above, Jim’s painting is one of his best, imo.
This one caught my breath. It looked like metal in real life.
Drippin-Soul’s art is always stunning, special. It was a sharp contrast to the Old Hues painting on its right.
I’ve been collecting murals by Old Hues for a couple of years now. This is the first one I’ve posted. I adore these dogs.
All of Old Hues’ murals have a classic oil on canvas look.
Pics taken by Resa – July 23 & 26, 2026
Toronto, Canada
The Artists in order of appearance:

Amazing art all, Resa. That metallic-looking work does look like it is actually metal…really jumps out at you…almost as three-dimensional. The Old Hues dogs are perfect, definitely looking like an oil painting on a canvas. Jim’s “picker” painting is wonderful. Beautiful image and sentiment. Here’s to all the new art!
Cheers back to you Bruce!
So glad you enjoyed the art. I can’t live without it.
I have to break it into several posts, or this one would have been longer than the underpass. 😹
This whole series is a huge WOW. The cat is spectacular and compelling and I can understand why you put it first.
Drippin Soul’s painting took my breath away and I can only imagine in real life.
Jim’s in endearing with the friends gathered helping each other picking fruit. Love!
Mother/daughter or aunt/niece is so sweet and who can resist those dogs.
What a fabulous show you have given us, Sorceress!
xoxoxoxoxoxo
Aww Thanks Thunder!
There’s more come, but like I said to Bruce… if I put all 39 pieces (the way I present) into 1 post, it would be longer than the underpass.
I can hardly wait to walk through it again! What joy art brings.
xoxoxoxoxoxo
You know it, Sorceress.
It’s good to spread them out into more posts!
I really, REALLY must time my next visit to Toronto to see you (if I retire, that can be any time!)
xoxoxo 🧚🏼♀️🪄 xoxoxo
Wow, wow, wow, Resa! This is an incredible array of art!
Dave… yes… I was in heaven; still am. So, this is 7 of 39 works of art.
Of course starting with the cat was a priority, but I have saved some of my other faves for the next posts.
I can hardly wait to walk there again.
Heaven indeed, Resa! Looking forward to seeing the next 32 works of art!
Yayayay!!!
🙂
Simply wonderful ❣️
Agree. Thank you for looking at the art, Luisa!
Make art, not war!

Wowser Resa, amazing art!!!
YES! The street art makes me soooo happy.
I love going to the art gallery, but it costs $ to get in, and there is only the one. So, it’s a special trip for most. I’m lucky because I live close to it and can walk there.
But street art is free. It’s all over and across the city. Everyone is exposed to art, if they just look.
Plus, artists get to show their work, and in this case got paid. ꧁🎨꧂
Win , win all round Resa.
Thank you for sharing 💖
Welcome! ꧁❦ 🎨 ❦꧂
What a fun and diverse collection of murals. Thanks Resa. I think you’re becoming a celebrity paparazzi. 😄
I agree, Brad. This is a fabulous array of art. More to come in the future. This is 7 of 39 works.
Lol… paparazzi…. well many of the artists recognized me and were happy to see me. I even got a couple of hugs. 🎨 ❦
Even better, a beloved friend and photographer who shares their goodness with the world. Thank you Resa and all these mural artists. 😍
Welcome! ꧁❦꧂
Wow–what a wonderful collection! Of course I love the cat–and the dogs–but I really like The Fruit Bandits.
So what was the problem with your phone?
Thank you for sharing these murals!
Cool comment, especially about the Fruit Bandits. Jim does get a good share of commissions in the city.
So, my phone… apparently I touched the camera screen and did a swipe/motion inadvertently. This make the screen dark. You know how you can touch a face.. say.. and the light focuses there?
Anyway, I did not know that when that square/target was present that if you swiped up or down, it would change the amount of light let in. I had unknowingly swiped it down to as dark as it gets. This shows on your screen. What you see is what you get.
Yes, I do sometimes focus the light on a face, but stop there.
I have been using the aperture setting for letting in more or less light.
However, this day was one of those cloudy/sunny days when it is bright sun for a bit, then a black thunder cloud rolls over and it gets very dark.
So, between accidentally closing the aperture, and a black cloud blotting the sun at the exact same moment… my screen looked like I was in a dark cave.
It was a good lesson (TY SKAM!) as the light changed constantly that day, and I could adjust constantly with it.
Of course, I got carried away and overexposed some, underexposed others and ended up shooting many pieces over again.
All in all a wonderful learning experience, while wallowing in art!
You are so welcome! ꧁💙꧂
You are welcome, too. I’m glad you learned about the phone. I think I understand. 😊
It does sounds like a wonderful day!
Toronto must be the capital of street art!
Such variety here. I think the two dogs are my fave.
Thank you, Maggie!
Toronto is definitely of of the world’s best street art cities. There are other fabulous street art cities, and I’m always in awe of some of the magnificent works painted outdoors.
The dog painting is gorgeous. There is something for everyone in this underpass.
It’s like a garden… a garden of art on cement and steel… a Garten. ꧁🎨꧂
Indeed! That’s clever!
Props to the artists!! These are stunning. What a kind and generous man SKAM is! Props to him, too!!
Agree Liz, yes, kudos to the artists!
I was so thrilled to meet SKAM. It’s always a joy to meet the artists and SKAM’s art is some of the very first pics I ever took. That he took a moment to help me and teach me something was a bonus.
From artist to another!
Yes!
Lovely art and terrific photos, Resa. Thanks.
Thanks John! The art makes me crazy with joy.
🎨 𝕏 🐂
I’m sure. 🐂
Wow, I’m mesmerized by your photos, Resa! Amazing art in unexpected places. I love cats, so this was so uplifting! The train one is also incredible and the colors stand out as if it’s hurtling towards you! SKAM is so generous. Thanks for sharing 🐈⬛🌸🌻
Thanks about the pics,, Ada! Thank goodness SKAM was there. I really am a lucky person.
Yes, the train does look hurtling towards us.
The artist was so lovely. I am ashamed I forgot his name, but the art remains.
Thank you so much for checking out the art! It’s meaningful that art brings us together. ꧁❦ 🎨 ❦꧂
That cat is cool
YES!!!
You hit the jackpot! So many cool murals. Of course, I love the kitty. The Dog Days of Summer is a super mural, also, and the metallic woman is fabulous. Nice SKAM helped you with your camera. A camera going dark is very disconcerting.
Thanks Tim!
Yes… a fab find, and more to share…YAY!
SKAM was my hero of the day, for sure. I was “in the dark” about my camera. Taking pics of street art is one of the joys in my life, and so when I thought my camera broke, I got quite emotional. Lol!
xoxo
I’m happy SKAM was there to help. No camera would be a disaster.
Yikes! perish the thought. Whew! xo
Amazing artworks, Resa. What a splendid find. I really love the dogs. They are so realistic 👌💛
Thanks Robbie! (lol, like I painted them)
The dog paining is wonderful. I’ll bet you could do a fabulous animal mural.
So, I’ll send you the Rembrandt’s tonight or tomorrow. I have 2 more to review. There are 7 all in all. Honestly, he painted so dark, and the gallery had them in a room with almost no light.
OH, and I need to make a list of the names of the paintings and the years.
There’s one of his mom… very cool! ꧁❦ 🎨 ❦꧂
He did paint very dark. I had trouble with lighting for my photographs too. Maybe one day I’ll do a mural. You never know 😅
Likewise! 🤭🎨

Oh Resa – what a wonderful collection of mural art. Thank you for taking us on this remarkable tour. I am in awe of the extraordinary talent of the individual artists. But even more awesome to me is the vision behind the project itself. Toronto has created a public space where artists with very different voices can work alongside one another, transforming an ordinary underpass into a shared outdoor gallery. Art like this doesn’t simply beautify a city. It builds community, invites conversation, and reminds us that creativity belongs to everyone. This is a tour that feeds our creative souls!! Hugs and more hugs.
It really is fabulous art. What a wonderful day I had.
Lol, there’s still 32 pieces of art to show. So, post by post…
And you are right, Rebecca. It really does build community. It builds community within the city, on its streets and in neighbourhoods. It also builds a community here on line.
By getting to share art: I get to interact with many people who already love art, some who are discovering they like art and finding joy in it, learning humanity’s history through art, but mostly seeing that the world’s community can make art and not war.
Hugs and hugs anda hugs!
🤗🤗🤗
It’s delightful to watch these artists , side by side, engrossed in beautifying this area with their paintings. That there is a specific area for them to work is fabulous. I love everyone of these and hats off to these awesome artists spreading beauty around the city. The dogs are sweet! The cat is awesome , but what really did it for me is the train. It’s coming right at me. That’s real talent. The perspective in that is mind blowing. A wonderful collection dear Resa. Thanks you for getting out there and capturing these and sharing them with us.
Love! Love!
xoxoxoxoxo
You hit the nail on the head, Holly.
Watching this street art gallery in the making was an absolute thrill, and a fabulous escape, as all art is for me. I adore all of the artists, many recognized me and I even got a couple of hugs.
Yes, the train is fabulous, and I am so humiliated that I forgot the artists name.
Okay, more to come. But first… back to watching the Emmy noms. 16 more productions to watch! And I’ll tell you, I’ve already watched a truck load.
Love, Love back to you dear Meece!
xoxoxoxoxoxo
It is something very beautiful! Every place should have a dedicated place for art. Young and old would love it and get involved. Yes! The Train! Wow! 🤩
You have one in Miami. I would LOVE to visit Wynwood Walls. OMG! xoxoxoxo
We have many art museums and exhibits here. Art Basel is the most elaborate, there is a small charge to visit Wynwood. Free art is along the city walls but most of those places are potentially not safe …at any rate we have a lot of art. ❤️
YAY… I would love to visit your art one day in the future. Would it be dangerous for me to wander your streets? Miami was safe the year I lived there. I adored it there.
Anyway, when all the insanity blows over, I still want to visit Chicago, Philadelphia and I miss going to NYC and LA. There are so many great cities in the USA!
xo꧁❦🌹❦꧂xo
I would not wander the streets of Miami. Art Basel is fabulous, it’s about 90$ to get in there. Wynwood about 15$.
the free wall art are not in the best places. Sigh 😔
Ahh, you have mentioned Art Basel. $90.00 is a tad pricey. Is that for 1 visit?
Is it classic & modern art? Or?
For $40.00 I get an annual pass to the AGO.
Well, I’d still like to see the free wall art. Now, more than ever. Good thing I’m up here so I don’t get into trouble. ★❅💙 💙❅★
it is for one visit. We will go to Rent A Pitbull and roam the streets in search of art.
Ohhh, I like that!
I used to take my friends Great Dane for walks. The dog weighed more than I did, and was longer than I was tall.
Talk about clearing a sidewalk!
I’m terrified of pit bulls but I love dogs. 🐶
I do too! You got another a dog after Tide, right? xx
I have a Shepard and Mr. B. I miss Tidey man so much. So adorable and sweet.
Oooo, I love Shepards! What’s his/her name?
I understand. I miss Jeep terribly. She was an extra sweet loving kitty.
Meece! Just sent test shots of the new Art Gown!!!!

Love all of them. Great work.
Yes, me too, and there’s 32 more. LOL… I’ll get them posted, eventually! xoxo
And I agree – Great work.
WHOA!!! So much stunning beauty inside an underpass!! Lucky you! I love that you got to interact with the artists, and SKAM was so kind in assisting you when your camera went dark. Love the kindness of strangers!
I agree, the Drippin-Soul’s art is jaw-dropping! It’s like it’s made of metal, wow!!
Thanks as always for sharing your beautiful work, dear Resa!! Love ya!!

I am so lucky to have this happening in walking distance from me.
I had so much fun, on both days. Better than going to a movie premier. 🤭🤗
It’s a total joy to share this art. You are welcome, Ruth!
★ ❅❅❅ ꧁❦ 🎨 ❦꧂ ❅❅❅ ★
(PS – only 16 more shows to watch!)
That is so cool that you’re surrounded by beautiful art within walking distance!! I don’t know about it being better than going to a movie premiere though… but then again, I love movies!!

What an absolute treat for you to see the street artists in action, Resa!! And, what a terrific idea to commission the street artists to beautify the walls that would have been surreptitiously painted anyway. Honoring the inevitable.
Yes, Cheyenne, the inevitable.
About a dozen+ years ago, the mayor of Toronto went on a rampage to “Clean up” graffiti in Toronto. He even donned protective gear and went out into our fave graffiti alley with a giant spray canister on his back and hosed the wall with paint, getting rid of that nasty stuff.
They passed a law making building owners to paint over that awful art or be fined.
Building owners and the public went crazy!
Leave our graffiti alone! My building, I can do what I want with it! I like the graffiti! Your law is unfair!
The law is repealed, and as a result START was born. Street Art Toronto. It’s a program that replaces heavily graffitied areas with art by local artists. The paint is provided and the artists are paid.
Also, if you have a building, often a garage in an alley that gets graffitied, START will provide the paint. You provide the artist & pay them. Many artists are happy to have free paint, and paint for free.
I have a giant Monarch Butterfly and 3 massive burners on my building! Check it out! https://graffitiluxandmurals.com/2019/10/24/a-mural-of-my-own/
Ugly “graffiti” is not permitted on street facing buildings. This is illegal, so the taggers get charged if caught. However, anything at eye level is removed via the gov’t and property owners are not fined.
Everyone is happy. We get art, and our city streets do not look like a non-art graffiti mess.
We have some alleys where real “graffiti” is allowed, and not removed.
So glad that government listened to the people since the city is now beautified. Terrific graffiti mural on your building!!
We are fortunate to have a traveling graffiti artist repeatedly visiting our small town. Her art on houses, walls, and cars, but she gets tagged when her work shows up on territorial walls.
Ahh, gee, I’d like to see some of her work!
Tags are always an issue, unfortunately.
Ohhh, that cat! I love the cat. I love this art scene, about Toronto. I remember the alley behind Ossington, about 10 years ago, when it was new work; I remember the art hanging on the wooden fence along Craven Road (now surely tattered and gone)… and of course the alley s. of Queen. And, and, and… oh, wow. This is what I miss about Toronto! Q: do ou follow the Wp blog “As I walk Toronto”? look it up, Mary often tracks street art
YES! That cat!
The Ossington Alley has gone downhill somewhat, but every few years it gets some new art. It is still a terrific alley. AND the alleys around it have had some fabulous art painted everywhere. It’s a fabulous art area.
I haven’t been to Craven Road in years. Thanks for the reminder! I’ll look into it this fall. I believe the fence is still there, and the art could have been refurbished.
The alley s. of Queen is now officially called Graffiti Alley and is a tourist attraction.
I do know the blog “As I walk Toronto” and visit it from time to time.
I would miss the art in Toronto as well, if I ever moved away.
Thank you so much for the. visit, Penny! ꧁❦꧂
Wow, Resa, I can’t even choose a favorite! Just when I thought I had, I kept scrolling and loved the next piece even more. They’re all incredible…the cat reminds me of our neighbor’s cat, Zephyr, who started visiting us after Copper passed. I think he’s our spirit animal. 💜
Anyway, gorgeous art! Have a good weekend! ❤️🌻 xo
II get it, Lauren!
I can’t pick a fave either. Other than I am mad about cats. So, for me the cat will always win… Lol!
Oh, Zephyr! A spirit animal is a very cool happening. I’ve been thinking of you and wondering what you are up to. lately. I’ll pop by and catch up.
It’s Emmy voting time, and so a large portion of my free time has been devoted to watching the nominated shows. I take being a voting member seriously, and won’t cast a vote if I didn’t watch all the shows (in each category)
Thank you for thinking of me. I know you are focused on writing, so I am honoured you came for a visit.
HUGS! ꧁❦🌹❦꧂
Some of those murals are amazing. The dogs–oh my.
Yes, the dog painting looks like oil on canvas. I adore Old Hues work. I should post more of it.
It’s just that my photo files are overwhelmed with art. There’s not enough time. I’m addicted to collecting.
Wow. They are impressive.
I agree Jennie! Thank you for popping by!
More to come.
Looking forward to it!
Yay!
Fresh, wonderful Street art at its best. You must have been thrilled.
I’ve Google Lensed your forgotten artist. It tells me the artist is Skam. Does that ring a bell? (Even knows this was on a Toronto underpass…)
Thanks Brian!
Yes, SKAM was there that day, and did one of the pieces. I credited his piece at the end. He’s the one that showed me what happened to my camera and gave me the lesson. He is very well know in Toronto. I’ve taken pics of his work for many years.
The “Train” painting is by the forgotten artist. SKAM did not paint that one. I know because I was there with them, and SKAM doesn’t do images. He does lettering aka burners or aka writing.
The forgotten artist was the one who was there with SKAM. They were touching up their work.
xoxoxoxoxo
Interesting, that shows the limits of AI. I’ve seen AI make mistakes. On queries I’ve made on dates, for instance, I wanted to check a date, and the answer AI gave I knew was wrong. I said it, and AI apologised. LOL.
Yes, my hubs has had many wrong answers, and has told me AI apologies. SICK!
Non AI searches take more time, and ultimately may yield no answer.
We are already getting lazy about doing research.
We don’t need to work on inventing any robots, or cyborgs anymore. AI is turning us into its robots.
xo
Haha! I’ve had AI tell me:
“I know the feeling.”
LOL. Seriously? A machine feeling?!
🙄
It is crazy!
Humans are losing humanity to AI. AI is gaining humanity (faux) from humans.
My sister (rip) was mentally ill. She had no emotional capability. She learned how to pretend a fake empathetic-ness. Before she learned when and how to do that, no one liked her.
That is what AI is doing to suck us in!
Oh. So sorry about your sister. At least she found a way to relate to others.
Yeah…
Thanks xx
PS: Google Lens gets lot of street art wrong.
That’s a good point. I’ll keep it in mind next time I Google lens one piece of street art. In this case it probably was so fresh, it made the wrong assumption.
True!
Also that train is a Go Train, a popular mode of public transportation in Ontario.
I have seen other street art paintings similar. Hmmm… possibly the same artist? xxx
So the artist is definitely local. Did you ever know his name? If you did, go back to older work. Maybe it will ring a bell?
I did know his name… this is why I am so humiliated. I chatted with him. Good chance I will see him again. Net time I will NOT forget his name.
Yes… …older work… good idea!
It happens to me all the time. I seldom forget a face but names are another thing.
Older work of his you posted, likely you put his name. You generally do…
I try! xxx
Amazing finds Resa. There is a ton of street art in our city. And that one that you said looks like metal – really does look metal. Amazing! 🥰💜💚❌⭕

Love them all but especially the cat and the two dogs. They look…loved, if that makes any sense. Respect to all the artists from Australia!
Lots of sense! That’s why the artists paint them.
Thank you Meeks!!!
-grin- my pleasure. 😀
The cat is a beauty, Resa. Amazing to see a street full of artists at work. I would be transfixed, but wouldn’t dare talk to the artists. These are fabulous xx
Thanks Jo!
It was a great day. I don’t bother the artists when they are painting, but quite a few know me, so if they see me they will stop and say hello!
I even got a hug! xx
You keep the best company! xx
Yes, I do. Thank you, Jo! xx
Oh I enjoyed this variety – with the painters in action and the different murals – I am getting ready to go for another “look see” to enjoy it some more.
xxxx
Yayay! It was a great day, and more to come! xxxx
🙂 xxx
I’m rolling my eyes at myself. It seems like the harder I try to keep an eye out for your next post, the later I am. LOL. Resa, this is a feast! How cool to have so many murals all together. Of course, I also love the cat best. 🐱 However, what amazing work on the dogs. The head really does look like metal — it’s striking. It also sounds like you had a great time being there. Thanks so much for sharing all this with us. Hugs on the wing.
No worries!
I’m the most haphazard blogger on WP.
I just do what I can. Blogging is not a job. I just enjoy sharing art and visiting those I like when I have time.
I love street art! _HUGS x bunches!
I can’t remember if I already invited you, but your wonderful writing merits an extra nudge if I did — I would be thrilled if you’d write a guest blog post for my site. If you think it might be fun or helpful to have my followers (who total about 10k across my various social media) meet you, here’s the link for general guidelines:
Yes, I am interested, da-Al. Thank you for the invite!
I am a bit swamped right now, as I have several guest posts I’m working on, and it’s Emmy season. (As a voting member of the academy, It is a very busy time)
The thing that got me in your guidelines was NO AI.
I do not use AI. (I’m stopping myself here as I will rant)
So, let me take a look at your guest posts, and see what I can come up with. I will be about Art.
I will either share some street art, or some of the pics I take of art at the Art Gallery of Ontario, orpossibly some of my art.
It may take me until late September to get back to you.
Again, thank you!
Good luck & have fun with voting! The offer doesn’t expire & it stands until whenever is convenient for you. Please email me at contactdaal@gmail.com if you have questions or when you’re ready
Yay! Offers that don’t expire are rare.
Thank you da-Al!
