Imagine – Discussing John Lennon

With Trent P. McDonald

John Lennon rocks my socks. When I found this street art, Trent raced to mind.

We did 2 joint Lennon posts just over a year ago. We both have an abundance of respect and love for him. Trent wrote a song for John and everything.

Resa – I knew you were taking some voice lessons, but I had no idea you were studying a song, let alone Imagine. Did you pick Imagine right away, or did that come later? Why did you pick Imagine?

Trent – My instructor picks the songs for me, mostly late 60s, early 70s songs.  He plays them on his guitar and I sing along.  He chooses the key that he feels is best for me.  Imagine was a relatively early pick, so it has been at least 8 months and maybe close to a year.  I think I had played my song about John for him which is why he chose it.

Trent’s Cover of Imagine

Not only do I love Trent’s cover of Imagine, I adore his drawing of John.

Resa – There are many John Lennon quotes. Some are profound, Some are hilarious.
Two of my faves (of many) are – “Time wounds all heels” & “One thing you can’t hide is when you’re crippled inside”

What are a few of yours?

Trent – John was pretty witty, but I can’t think of quotes right off the top.

Trent – I just looked up “John Lennon Quotes”, and there are so many to choose from!

Perhaps – We all have Hitler in us, but we also have love and peace. So why not give peace a chance for once?”  Of course, for me his song lyrics are worthy of quoting.

Resa – I completely agree!

“I’m Shot”

Were Lennon’s last words.

Resa – I was shattered when I heard the news that John had been shot and died. I honestly believed in his message of love and peace being a way forward for the world and its people. I felt that die with him.
Do you have any memory of hearing the news? Do you understand why I felt the way I did?

Trent – I had pretty much just rediscovered the Beatles just a short time before he was murdered.  When rediscovering the Beatles, I gravitated towards John and his message more than towards the others.  Peace and Love, the brotherhood of Man.  These were huge themes for me.  I was pretty much devastated when I heard the news.  I sat and listened to Beatles’ songs nonstop for two days.

Trent – Did I feel John’s message was killed with the messenger?  Yes and no.  I understood that we had entered a new era, but I tried to believe that his violent death would wake people up and that his message would grow.  Well, Ronald Reagan and all that he stood for took over the culture so that even kids my age went total right wing.  But the spark did remain.

TrentLike many geniuses, John was a contradiction,

… and had a lot of bad qualities.  He said he was violent when he was young, fighting with boys and hitting girls and that a lot of his peace and love was to keep those tendencies at bay, to conquer the violence within himself.  He could be super petty and paranoid.

Resa – I love the insight!

Trent – One of the saddest things is that I think after dropping out of public life for all of those years he had finally made peace with himself and was just breaking out again, ready to take on the 80s.  But all of that was nipped in the bud.

Favourite Songs

Resa – I think John Lennon is a brilliant songwriter.

My Fave John song from The Beatles’ days is Don’t Let Me Down.

John songs (excluding Imagine) are: Jealous Guy, Whatever Gets You Through the Night and Instant Karma.

So Trent, what are your favorite John Lennon songs?

Trent – With the Beatles I loved: Strawberry FieldsI am the Walrus and Across the Universe

Solo?

Hmm, maybe: ImagineMind Games and Watching the Wheels“- had to put that last one in because I wanted something from Double Fantasy and that was by far the most popular song from that album – it sounds so much like his earlier works.

Resa – I absolutely love the album cover for Double Fantasy. Yoko Ono is an interesting person. I’ve only seen her art in photos. However, as a performance artist she is brilliant in the video for Instant Karma, knitting with a blindfold on, while the band plays. John’s love for her is wonderfully obvious. Do you see it?

Trent – I think there is a huge love story between John and Yoko and is often very apparent.  So yes, I see it in the video you mentioned and also at the end of the one for Imagine where they are trying to keep straight faces but end up cracking each other up.  I think it is awful how much hate she has received from the world, though I think it has mellowed a lot in the last couple of decades.

Resa – I agree!

About –Let’s All Join In & Trent’s cover of Imagine

Trent wrote on YouTube

Resa thought she saw Lennon’s face from a trolley but didn’t’ find it again until recently. When talking about it, some said we need Lennon’s vision today more than ever and others said there should be a song about seeing Lennon’s face from a trolley…So here it is, both ideas in one. Yes, I drew my own picture instead of using the real street art – how could I without asking the artist? And, of course, I manipulated the drawing in a thousand and one ways.

IMAGINE

Here is Trent’s blurb from YouTube, slightly edited for this post.

Yep, a quick take on John Lennon’s classic “Imagine”. Though very close, this is not an exactly note-for-note transcription of John’s original arrangement. Besides a few different notes and different drum fills, I recorded in Bb instead of C. I didn’t even listen to the original string arrangement, I just played. I had a few reasons for recording this song. One is that I sing this in my voice lessons.

Another was that Resa had told me she had found some street art featuring  Lennon’s “Imagine”.  Since I had been singing the song, why not do a recording?

Many thanks to Trent for joining me here today!

  1. Thank you for your lovely rendition of Imagine , Trent. It’s very moving. Thank you for bringing this article to us Resa. The violent death of John Lennon was ripping a piece of our culture apart. So tremendously tragic and unforgettable. This brought back many memories of his music, I think his best work was done after he left the Beatles. Mind Games is wonderful and the video is remarkable in that he exhibits a wonderful talent and sense of humor as well .
I enjoyed your music tremendously Trent, thank you both for sharing such a special time and music that even today is so emotive. Imagine is timely now. If only.
    ❤️

    1. Thanks, Holly, I am glad you enjoyed the cover! I agree it is timely and I wish more people would rediscover John’s message. Of course that is what my original song is about.

    2. I agree, Holly. Trent’s rendition of Imagine is terrific and timely.

Does anybody think like this any more? It seems a few of us do, but we are so drowned out.

I wish John was still here, pointing out the direction he thought we should move toward. Still, he left us a beautiful message and a lot of great music.

Thank you for your wonderful comment, Holly! xoxo

  2. ‘Imagine’ as someone put it, “A world free from conflict and division, promoting peace, unity, and the absence of material possessions and religious dogma” He was a fine man. Regards, TOF

  3. A great “package” about John Lennon, Resa and Trent! He was indeed brilliant and complicated. I still have several Beatles “singles” from when I was a kid — including what I think was one of Lennon’s very best, most original songs: “Strawberry Fields Forever.”

    1. When I was a kid an older cousin gave me a stack of Beatles 45s. I have them someplace around, but they are pretty scratched up. OK, I just did a quick search and found three of them – one is “Strawberry Fields Forever!” Such a great song.

    2. Thank you, Dave!
It’s a bit of an honour to keep John Lennon’s message and music alive. I can’t thank Trent enough for doing this post with me.

Love and peace all seemed so possible when he spoke of it.
      Now…..
The pendulum has swung really far to the other side.
Strawberry Fields is a wonderful song. He wrote so many.

      1. Yes, Resa, things feel very grim these days. 😦 I was living on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in 1980, thirty blocks north of The Dakota. What a devastating day the day of that shooting was.

  4. Thanks Resa! It was a lot of fun revisiting John Lennon. And, of course, it was a lot of fun doing the recording of “Imagine”. Looking at this post I think I must have used the same photo of John as reference for my drawing as the street artist used for his (her?) Imagine painting.

    1. Trent,

You did a fab recording of Imagine. Your vocal lessons have paid off!

When I look at drawings of John Lennon, it seems to me this pic, or at least this period, is the most popular.

I’ve always wanted to draw him, and will in the future, but it will be with his long hair.

John was not unique with his message of love and peace, but it appears to be in the minority. I love that his music keeps it alive. So, I thank you so much for being a part of that here today!

      1. Thanks Resa 🙂
I agree, as far as images of John go, that and maybe 1965 are the most popular. I keep my hair about that length, so I identify 😉 I think you drawing of him with the longer late ’60s hair would be great.
We do need to keep pushing his message!

          1. Kieth Richards should be interesting… Are you doing the young rock star or the ancient icon? Or, perhaps, you are not saying until you release it.

            1. I think I’ll be doing him at an older age. I’m looking at pics between 1995 – now, so from 51 – 81 years.
It’s the feel of Keith I’m looking for, not a really a posed pic, although the feel can still come through.
He’s quite the character, and many of his most recent pics still have that cigarette hanging out of his mouth.
I like the period around the release of his book… so early 60’s.

Still I did find 1 pic from the late 70’s and 1 from the 80’s that are worthy of emulating.

              So.. I’m still undecided.
I just finished Steven Tyler, and Holly did up a bio. That will come out this weekend.

  5. A beautiful post of words, music, art, and what might have been. I does seem like he was trying to make himself a better person and trying to imagine the world a better place. I wonder what he’d be singing now, if he had lived?

    1. I agree, I think he was trying to make himself a better person and the world a better place. There are too few people who you can say that about. I’m sure he would have evolved with the times, but I am also sure his core message would have stayed the same.

      1. Agree! I think he would have kept on with a positive message.

Does his being gone make Imagine a more powerful song and message?

Or, would he have outdone himself, and taken us along?

    2. Thank you Merril!

I wonder that all the time. What would John be writing and singing now?
There’s another song for Trent, or someone to write!

He was a positive visionary. We could use that right now!

  6. Like you and Trent, I loved John and his music and messages. His death was devastating. Thanks for the interview, music, and mural to help keep his messages alive. Imagine says it all so well. 😍

    1. Thank you, Brad!
All good messages (and music) should be kept alive.
I’m happy you read this post.😍 It means a lot to me to write about John Lennon.

      1. That’s the beauty of the arts.
        “Art Remembers Us!”
Then we can remember the artists, and any messages.
It is interesting that Art (includes all the arts) is destroyed by armies/dictators/the religious/ cultures etc. – art whose message they do not like, or want passed into the future.
Much art was destroyed in the French Revolution
        Isis destroyed art and artifacts
Hitler & the Nazis destroyed much art & books.
        Book burnings all throughout history.

Case in point – When Lennon made the comment “”More popular than Jesus” in a March 1966 interview, it resulted in –

“Early August 1966, Christian groups, primarily in the Southern United States took to the streets to burn the sin out of their beloved Beatles records in response to John Lennon’s remark”
I’ve also seen pics of the records being broken in half.

        1. The arts go first, then any type of intellectualism. You can’t control free thinkers.

The main theme of both the visual arts class and the music history class I took in college was that the arts are a mirror of society. You can learn as much about an age digging into their arts as you can studying their politics and wars, which is what most conventional history concentrates on.
Those southern kids destroying Beatles records – their parents already hated the Beatles for many reasons, not least is that the Beatles refused to play to segregated audiences, so you had these black kids and white kids all mixed together enjoying the music. Didn’t go over well down there…

          1. True!
Every time I finish reading some of 1984 to Norm, he says – We’re living that now!
Manipulating history and current information is of utmost importance.
Art that would depict any narrative other than what Big Bro deems is destroyed.

Seems to me the south is still filled with certain hates. The Beatles didn’t buy it. I don’t buy it.

            1. The south still is – it is like a completely different country from the north, and unfortunately it often controls the US’s politics… Refer to Norm’s observations above!

              1. Yes,.. and it’s a crazier time than ever.

I get so angry at times, that I’m more than happy to be reminded of John Lennon’s thoughts.

  7. This is a wonderful post, Resa. Trent’s artwork and music are great, and the post is a wonderful tribute to a genius who was taken from us way too soon. As for quotes, I like: “The more I see the less I know for sure.”

    1. Thank you, Dan!
      Trent did great with “Imagine”.
I adore Lennon’s music and message. It’s sickening that someone murdered him.
Yes, I like your choice of quote as well! Excellent!

    1. That’s one I usually don’t think of, but when I listen again am surprised at how good it is – several meter changes and a few key changes in a 2 minute song is amazing.

    1. “Imagine”is beautiful, and I have imagined. It’s just that it hasn’t come true….YET!
Thank you for your lovely comment, Maggie!
      💙💓

    1. Thanks, John. It was such a senseless tragedy. I think in some ways he was getting better as he matured so I think he would have surpassed what came before, if that is possible.

    2. Thank you John!
No telling what beautiful music he would have made, or what else he might have done.
He had a positive power, and ability to draw people together.

  8. Thanks Resa and Trent for revisiting John Lennon’s songs. It reminded me of my feeling of horror when the week before his death the Soho News had a cover picture of Yoko with the headline Yoko Only. It was a portent of impending doom I couldn’t shake.

    1. Thanks Cheyenne. I do like to revisit Lennon’s music every chance I get, so this was a great project to work with Resa on.

I am sure the person who wrote that headline felt awful after the tragedy of John’s murder.

    2. You are welcome Cheyenne! It’s a pleasure.
“Yoko Only”… that does seem foreboding.
      Life is strange.

PS(did you mean “resisting”, or did auto mistake fill that in? Do you want it changed? To?)

  9. Trent’s rendition of “Imagine” is wonderful! What a wonderful, uplifting post! Murals are amazing; the eyes are so soulful and just spot on — after all, they’re the window to the soul! Enjoyed this interview a lot. John Lennon’s music and outlook was incredible, and his death so sad and needlessly tragic. “Imagine” is my favorite song, so I really liked this a lot. Thanks for sharing 🌸🌹🌸

    1. Ada!
I’m thrilled you like this post/tribute to John Lennon. “Imagine” is a fabulous song, one hoped would come true one day.
I agree, Trent’s cover of “Imagine” is fabulous. I’m honoured to chatting about John Lennon, and that Trent made that recording. It’s so perfect for this post!
It is a joy to share!
      ❦💓💐❦

  10. Resa and Trent – this was a SUPER team project – filled with art, music, heart, and those quotes as we got to see how you and trent connect over music – 🙂

  11. Wow, great cover of Imagine there, Trent and what a beautiful drawing of John! THere’s such sadness in his eyes and the blue colors make him seem rather forlorn. His famous last words are so sad and eerie… why do so many brilliant people meet such tragic end?

Thanks for sharing these, Resa!! It happens to be raining and gloomy today when I saw this post, seems appropriate somehow.

    XOXO

    1. Yes, Trent’s “Imagine” is terrific. I’m honoured to showcase it here.
His last words are vey haunting. Simple & to the point.

It does lend credence to the saying, “Only the good die young.”

Well, it’s cool that you had the right mood set. At least it’s raining. It’s sizzling hot here. When it rains, steam rises from the sidewalk.

      XOXOXO

    2. Thanks! The gloomy mood fits the post to a certain extent, particularly thinking of the way too early death of John, but there is that uplifting side, which I helped lifted you on your rainy day 🙂

  12. Ah, what a wonderful conversation about Lennon, you two and I loved Trent’s Imagine. And speaking of love, ‘Oh my love’ has got to be the sweetest most moving love song ever. What a loss…

    xoxoxo

    1. Thanks, Marina! I am not super familiar with “Oh My Love”, so I just gave it a listen. It is a beautiful song, very moving. It was a terrible loss 😦

    2. Thank you dahlin’!
It is such a beautiful song. I just listened to it for the first time in a long time.
He was the best mush-head ever! xxoxoxoxoxo

  13. This is an excellent tribute to an exceptional musician and person!

Thank you both for sharing this heartfelt homage. 🙏👍

“Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans!”
    John Lennon

    1. Love that quote, Aladin. Thank you for the reminder!
And thank you for appreciating this post. It is a joy and honour to make it.
      John Lennon was exceptional.
      xo 💜

  14. What a wonderful and special tribute to an music icon who left our world too soon. I loved the conversation, music, and artwork. We pull out the old albums now and then, and “Imagine” stirs my emotions every time. Its relevance remains. Thanks, Resa and Trent! ❤️

    1. Thank you, Lauren!
It was thrilling to find this John Lennon art, partly because I knew it would become a tribute to him on my blog. How could it not?

This is Trent & my 3rd John Lennon post.
Looks like we want his “relevant” ( I so agree with you) message to live on. 💜💜💜

      1. Right, how could it not, Resa! John Lennon still lives on because of what he stood for. Maybe you and Trent will do a 4th post, or perhaps an annual post, because I can’t think of us getting tired of his quotes or his wish for peace and love. Our world is always in need of more love and peace. ☮️🥰💙💙💙

        1. Something will come up!
          I enjoy collaborating with Trent.
I agree, how could we ever get tired of Lennon’s message, even if you don’t like his style of music.
Yet, it seems many have either never heard of the concept of love and peace, or just don’t care.
          Still, we must persevere!
          🥰💙💙💙

    2. Thanks, Lauren! If Resa gives me an excuse to share my thoughts about John Lennon you can be sure I will jump at it 🙂 I always enjoy working with her and, as she said in her comment, we both believe John’s message needs to be broadcast loud and clear at this point in history.

      1. LOUD!!!
For sure. It’s hard to cut through the din of tiktok and and social media chatter, and hate .. I mean, kanye the moron, released a rap “Heil Hitler”, then changed it to “Nigga Heil Hitler” and now “Hallelujah” to get past Hate Censors.
        WTF?

    1. Thanks, Robbie. I am sure a lot of our readers are too young to remember a time when John was alive. Heck, most people out there weren’t even born yet! I still think his message can resonate with any generation.

“Hey Jude” is a great song and was written for John’s son, Jullian – the working title was “Hey Jules”. That being said, the person who wrote it was Paul McCartney. Yeah, all of their songs during the Beatles era are attribute to Lennon/McCartney.

    2. Forgot to add – pretty much only the huge Beatles fans know who really wrote most of those Lennon/McCartney songs, so I was not trying to put you down in any way 🙂

    3. Thank you, Robbie!

Ahh, well I’m glad we got to share some of what John was about here today. His music and message are for all people, all times. I only wish it would come true!
      x🌟

  15. Pingback: If We Were Having Coffee on the 16th of August, 2025 #weekendcoffeeshare | Trent's World (the Blog)

          1. Haha! Misha’s meows were like a song — and the Scoobies sang along. They’re actually working on a “Venus” parody (as in Shocking Blue, or Bananarama), since Tubthumping was well received this week. 🐱 🐱

  16. This is a beautiful post, Rosa and Trent! I love your song and your voice. I’ve head you sing quite a few times but I really enjoyed you singing this one. My first single of Beatles was I Want to Hold Your Hand. I didn’t even have a record player. I borrowed a record player to listen to it as much as I could before returning the player to my friend. This post is really wonderful, Resa!

    1. Miriam,
      I adore your Beatles story.
      Thank you for sharing that!
Yes, Trent did a fab vocal track to “Imagine”. I was thrilled he did it for this post!

Thank you, Miriam! Music we listen to as life wends on, is our own personal life movie’s soundtrack.

      1. Thanks, Miriam. I have been taking voice lessons for about a year, so hopefully I am getting better. Since this is a song I sing with my instructor, I know it pretty well and don’t have to “guess as I am sing – typically I write the lyrics hours or sometimes even minutes before I record, so I don’t have it down. I think those two things, the improvement from my lessons and actually knowing the song before I record it, are what you heard 🙂

        1. How wonderful you’ve been taking voice lessons, Trent! I enjoy singing. I took voice lessons in my 20s, but had been singing in the choirs until before Covid. The churches had recordings of my solos but I regret not having any copies except one. I have recordings from a studio in Hong Kong but the songs are in Chinese. I bought a machine to convert cassette to mp3 and tried to separate the 20+ songs. Hopefully create mp4 with subtitles. But I’ve been busy doing my grandma’s duty. I also try to set up the audiobooks with Amazon. It’s a wonderful life after retirement.

          1. I sang in my school and church choirs until I was in my mid-20s and thought my voice was OK if not great. I really didn’t sing much after that until my early 50s and discovered my voice was less than OK 😉 But it is getting better.
Sounds like you have a big history of singing. Do you still sing at all? With that wonderful retirement, do you feel like taking it back up again? I do hope you can get some good mp3s from the cassettes and are able to create videos from them.
I agree, I haven’t been retired long, but it has opened up a lot of opportunities, such as time to take the voice and drum lessons.

                    1. Same here, Resa! I take a lot of videos of my grandkids but I shouldn’t post too many of them without my daughter’s permission!!!! ❤ ❤ I use YouTube a lot also and my grandkids watch their programs on YouTube. Both my husband and I subscribed the Premium accounts for them to watch without ads. ❤ 🙂

  17. “All we are saying is give peace a chance.” I cannot articulate, but I’m sure you understand, how unique and integral John Lennon was to The Beatles. I once described him as, “A man purposefully entering the coal mine of his psyche in search of the diamonds buried there. Finding them. Cloaking them in soft sorrowful poetry for us to unravel in our time of need.” Across The Universe is his song that moves me the most. An ever-present diamond circulating the cosmos forever. Wonderful interview, covers (Trent) and tribute. I know he’s one of your favs✌️

    1. To say John Lennon was genius seems almost limiting. I like your analogy about his work. I can understand why “Across the Universe” really moves you – it is great! Thanks!

    2. I’m with Trent, EF.

Your analogy is lovely and works.

Thank you a million for reading this article and taking the time to comment! I haven’t heard “Across the Universe” for a loooong time. Think I’ll go have a listen!

      I so want peace………

  18. What a fun and introspective interview about Lennon. I think everyone from our era felt a certain sense personal great loss with his untimely death. I also enjoyed the video of Trent singing Imagine. 🥰🦋💜🧡

      1. I agree Trent!
Yes, deaths of celebrities have wrung emotion from us, but John Lennon caused many to actually grieve. We knew we had lost more than just celebrity.

        1. John hit me hard. It is odd, but a few of my very favorite musicians passed away and though I felt sad, there was little beyond that. After John, the only one to hit me harder was Bowie. So odd since I liked the music of some of the other musicians who passed away better than Bowie. He wasn’t more than just a celebrity in the same way John was, but he did have an oversized persona.

          1. Yes, Bowie’s death did effect many to a large degree.
It may have had something to do with his age, relatively young for today. He was still recording and touring – so still relevant (not just reunion tours, final tours or other nostalgia tours).

Also, it was like – one day he had cancer, next day making his Last album (quite haunting that he knew it would be his last) then died.

What am I trying to say?

We watched him perform his Swan Song!

    1. Ho Debby!
      Trent did amazing with “Imagine”.
I’m so honoured he shared it here with us.
John Lennon was, and still is a loss.
Voices like his are missing from the global landscape today.
      xoxo🌟❦🌹

  19. One of my favorite artists of all time (The Beatles, without a doubt my #1 😊). And this is a beautifully woven tribute! I loved how you and Trent combined art, music, and personal thoughts about Lennon’s legacy. I like how you mentioned his brilliance and contradictions, very genuine and heartfelt. The street art, Trent’s “Imagine” cover, and your memories keep true to Lennon’s message of peace and love still resonates. Cheers to the day, and I am about to put on one of his albums!

    1. I don’t know if I have a 100% favorite band (it depends on my mood at the time), but The Beatles are right up at the top and sits at #1 depending on the day of the week… John has always been my favorite Beatle.

Thanks! I’m glad you liked our discussion about John and his music and my cover of Imagine 🙂

    2. Dalo,
Thank you for this touching comment!
It was a joy working on this post, an honour to present it, with Trent.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and keeping the message of ‘love and peace” within your embrace.
      Enjoy the music!

    1. I was just saying that voices like Lennon’s are missing from the global landscape. His message was popularly embraced, and spread world wide.
      Welcome back, Brian!
I’m sure you had a great time, and look forward to your pics.

I’m good. I’m just in the middle of Emmy voting, so I’m somewhat dizzy from watching LOTS of TV shows. This is sucking up a massive block of my free time, but it is over in a week.
      I’ll be by soon! xx

      1. Thank you Resa. Good to be back… (Editing the pix right now, which will take a bit of time.)
Emmy voting? I knew you were part of the jury. I’m sure it means a lot of work. Hopefully you can come up with good recommendations. I don’t watch any TV any more…
        Take your time…

  20. I sang the Messiah annually until 2019. COVID interrupted the rehearsals. 2022 we started moving, selling and buying houses, and upgraded the new house. There are now too many singing groups in Portland. My voice is not good enough to join the professional groups. I may do some worship leading later on.

    1. Sounds good Miriam!
Covid changed life for many of us. I took an earlier retirement than I had planned.
Still, it’s working out and I agree, it’s a wonderful time.

  21. Such an on point post honoring John Lennon, guys. Love the street art Resa and you gave justice to his work with you singing, Trent. Awesome songs and wonderful voice. I love those quotes Resa which speak to his heart and the love he shared with Yoko Ono. We all have a past when we were running from demons trying to find ourselves and the main thing his intention was in the right place. What a shocking and sad time to loose him. Heaven knows we could use his voice right now. Thank you for your great work and putting him front and center. 💓

    1. Thanks, Cindy! Yes, we could really use his voice right now. Since he isn’t here to say it himself, I think pushing his message from back in the day is the next best thing.

  22. Trent’s rendition to Imagine is the best and his voice is really good. The artwork is amazing. I miss John Lennon and if he we’re alive today, he would be so happy on how many billions appreciate his music and inspires. Resa, you are the best.

    1. Thanks 🙂 I think he would be happy by how many people still listen to and are inspired by his music, but I also think he would be sad that the world seems to be going in the opposite direction as the one he championed.

      1. You welcome, Resa.

Indeed, his message is definitely needed now more than ever. However, like your friend said, John Lennon would be sad and confused on where our country is at.
All we can do, is fight the good fight.

            1. Yes, me too! It’s like watching the death of America, from my Canadian armchair.
I hope there is a massive turn around. EVERYONE needs to attend the labor day protests.

There’s a time to put up, or shut up! This is it.
It’s making me sick to my stomach watching what’s going on in the US.

              1. Amen, Sister. I’ll say and share this with you. I’ve lived in L.A. my whole life, it’s never gotten this crazy. I know Trump hates us Californians, but we won’t give up the fight against his rhetoric or bullshit.

  23. I so enjoyed Trent’s recording of Imagine. And your discussion was fascinating. I didn’t know that Lennon’s focus on peace was partly to transform himself. It ended up being a gift to the world. I also wasn’t quite as knowledgeable about his relationship with Ono – she definitely wasn’t treated well, and I’m glad people are coming to their senses.

This is one of my favorite songs. I also like In My Life, which he wrote with McCartney.

    And Trent, Reagan? Lol.

Thanks to you both for the fascinating post.

    1. You are welcome, Diana!
It was an honour working with Trent, to create another reminder (much needed) of John’s message of love and peace.

Love “In My Life”! They wrote many great songs.

I had to bring ip Yoko. She was treated poorly, and I believe they truly loved each other, and the peace message.

      I have finished “Farlanders’ Law”!
I have begun, in my slow way, “Kari’s Reckoning”.
      Loving the saga! xxx
