The Halloween Feast

It’s for you!

Funny how the ring comes after I answer. MAWHAAAAA

Good News! Your rat and mandrake root pizza is ready!

The Mandrake root is specially grown in dead pumpkin graveyards.

It’s an exciting narcotic flavour, with hallucinogenic overtones.

However, we are unable to find grain fed rats anymore.

All rats are now 100% rat fed.

It makes for a tough chew, but with enough pepper on it, it doubles quite nicely for pepperoni.

It would be highly appreciated if you could pick your order up as soon as possible!

My entire family has shown up, and they’ve all got their eye sockets on your pizza.

Our pastry chef has just arrived with his secret ingredients for your birthday cake.

Skullorita said she would bring it by before the party!

She’s bringing a bunch of happy-go-lucky party skulls along with her.

DJ No Way here to spin you tonight!

Call me crazy, but every time I hear this song,I get hungry!

As Halloween approaches, I would like to say to you, Happy Halloween, that you are well and happy, Lord of the worlds.

  2. Huuu!! It’s very scary, especially the Rat Pizza, although I love pizza! Honestly, the paintings are so excellent that I forgot to be afraid.😂✌🤙

    Happy Halloween, my friend.🤗🤡👻🎃💕

    1. Thank you Martha!

      Found you in my SPAM.

Now that is scary. Spam is like a spider’s web that catches mostly annoying flies, but sometimes it snares some butterflies.

      Be well!

  3. A brilliant share of brilliant art Resa! Such talent all around👏. You must have great fun running around taking all of these wonderful shots! Kind regards…Jay😊

    1. Jay,
I have a blast collecting street art.
Almost everything I do involves sitting: sewing, drawing, painting, blogging..
Okay I stand to cook, but then I sit to eat.
Finding the art involves a lot of walking…hours at a time.
      It’s the best addiction, ever!
      Thank you!

      1. Hi Resa. Yes, I understand, I am much the same spending too much time on my backside, so I walk a lot, and every chance I get, and bike.

What a great pastime, and one that keeps you healthy too. A healthy addiction…you could say😊.

        Best, Jay

  4. How fabulous that you have all these street art shots. Such a creative Halloween post, Resa! Happy Birthday to Sherrie!

(I’ll pass on the pizza, even though I really love pizza. 🙂)

    1. Thanks Merril! I sure had fun with this one.

Still, are you sure about passing on the pizza?
What about some fish flavoured birthday cake, then?😅

    1. Thank you dear Shey!
I had lots of fun with this one. The right pieces of art just happened to be in the alleys when I needed them.
      xxxxx

  5. Spooky, nice pics and art, even if it is not ‘quietling’ for this morning coffee..:D Nice post Resa, no pizza for me, it is way too early….

    1. Ah well, street art and all art inspires great writing.
      Thanks TOF!
My next post, November the 3rd, will be Once a Soldier.
      I am excited!

  6. Brilliantly selected for the honoree and the season. Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday, Sherrie. Love the song. I know a band we regularly fuses this song with Sweet Home Alabama & All Summer Long. Cheers to Sherrie for her day. Clink!

  7. Brrrr…. that’s one phonecall I wouldn’t answer!!!!!
What a brilliant Halloween assortment, dahlin!
    I can’t believe it’s here already!
    ps. you’re not crazy… Ahoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Hera agrees!
    xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

    1. Yes, these alley phone calls can unleash cursed events, like the fact Halloween is already here.

  8. Ummm. Maybe I’ll eat in on Halloween. That rat, mandrake, pepperoni pizza sounds a little risky. 🙂 Fabulous spooky murals, Resa. The design of skulls under the basketball hoop is very cool. And that rat. Yikes! Happy Halloween!

    1. Eat in? We deliver too, you know!

The rat is a Nick Sweetman. He’s a fabulous artist.
Hahahaha! I got the mandrake root art off the side of a building where “Blondie’s Pizza” has an outlet. Maybe that’s how I got the idea…hmmm subliminality at its finest.
      Happy Halloween! x🎃

  9. Wow, that rat is fierce! This is the coolest Halloween art ever. The skeleton hands on the handsets are very atmospheric. Thanks so much for sharing; it’s truly a privilege to be able to see this artwork. 🎃💙

    1. Lol! Thanks Ada!
I’m thrilled you like the artwork. I am addicted to finding street art. I feel like I live in a bohemian art gallery when I go for a walk.
      I feel alive.
      🎃💙🎃💙

  10. I absolutely love Rat pepperoni! Happy birthday Sherrie. Thanks for getting us is in the spirit 👻Resa. It wouldn’t be Halloween with some Werewolves of London. 🎃🧛‍♀️🎵🫶🐀

    1. Congratulations Holly House of Heart! 🌟💥🎉

As our 100th customer, you have won a year’s supply of Free “Rat Pizza”. 🐀🍕

      Happy (in)Digestion! 🤢
      AAARRROOOOO!!!!
      xoxoxoxox👯‍♀️oxoxoxoxo

      1. Omg! Another joyful Halloween. 👻
So lucky. Last year not a single trick or treater came around and there I was in my Bee 🐝 costume and bags of candy. People don’t want there kids out. 😔yes, I still bought bags of candy this year.

        1. Yes, you’re on a winning streak!
Bee costume, wow! Bet you look like a real honey. Sorry, I couldn’t resist!

No one has ever come here on Halloween. I live in a …. not good hood. Urban as urban gets, across town, west side of downtown, really old area.

BUT, there’s a lot of street art around!
          xoxo🎃🧡xoxo

          1. There sure is. It seems no matter where here you live people don’t want there kids out. I don’t blame them. We know our neighbors and they always bright the kids but things are too rough out there now.
            Have a happy Halloween 🎃 🚬👿

                    1. No kids here. Yes, sad.
However, there is a new tent encampment about 5 blocks away. It’s all men. I watched them boozing and arguing with each other today . Scary…. scarier than Halloween.
                      The world is overpopulated.
                      xoxoxoxo

                    2. Bad development.
So many homeless. We have a lot of help and shelters in Toronto, but many do not want the help.
You are not allowed to drink, do drugs or fight in the shelters.
Also, I live walking distance form the CAMH. It’s Toronto’s mental hospital. They’ve got 1/2 way houses all around me now.

Thank goodness I’m also surrounded by street art! xoxoxoxoxo

                    3. They have passed a law here ( seems heartless but….) that the homeless are no longer allowed to set up tents or sleep in parks are on the sidewalks. This forces them to seek shelter at night and not be lying on the street/sidewalks that presents a hazard for them and everyone. There is no fighting in the shelters, no drugs, no alcohol… They spend the night and leave and rturn at night if they have no place to stay or go to jail. The saddest thing is the families that have become displaced, mom and kids living in a car…that is allowed as long as they are not sleeping on the street. Such a sad world. Do be safe sweet Meece. xoxoxoxox

                    4. I will be safe, Meece!
When I’m in the streets, I move with the pack. I don’t dress well. I know when to not go somewhere.

Yeah… who knows what is kind, what is not?

I got 2 petitions in mail today.

1 – pass a law making it illegal to feed people in tent cities.

2 – donate $ to help feed people in tent cities. They set up tables and give out food right in the tent city.

                      I support neither.
It’s crazy Meece. It feels like these people are animals in a zoo. Feed them… don’t feed them.

Thing is, there are 3 food banks within walking distance of me and of 2 tent cities. There are also 2 soup kitchens, in the same area.

                      I support those.

What is wrong with the people that they can’t even walk 2 -4 blocks for 2 squares a day?

                      It is a sad world.
Adore you, Meece, and I do try to be safe.
LOL… look where I live! It keeps me real.
                      xoxoxoxoxo

                    5. Many of them have mental issues. Many are addicted and have lost motivation to live otherwise. Fear and lack of trust has something to do with it too. Some are innocence who fell on hard times and cannot find a place to live. I do hope we can find a solution for this crisis. Everyone’s someone’s sister, brother, father, son, daughter , mother. As you said many refuse government help , lack of trust .

  11. What a collection! The skeleton hands holding phones are fun, but that rat is downright scary. Especially with your description that the rats are cannibals, and the cannibal rat meat is on the pizza. Zionks! As Shaggy used to yelp in “Scooby-Doo.” Me and Scooby are going to levitate for a moment while our legs spin in a pinwheel. And when our feet hit the floor, we’re gonna zoom away from that rat. Then we’re gonna find some Scooby snacks.

    1. LOL!
I never watched Scooby-Doo (know who he is), but I know cartoons, and I can see this.

Thanks Dave! I had a lot of fun making this post. Every Halloween, my overflow of street art comes in handy.

      BOO!!!! 🎃💀👻🤢🐀🍕

    1. OMG!

Hi Brad! I missed this comment/ Pardon my tardiness in replying!

Thank you about my imagination… I live in a world of my own design. Lol!

Hope you’re having a fab weekend!

  12. Whoa!! It’s a Halloween feast indeed! Some of these murals are pretty scary, it’d probably make me jump if I see them walking at night, ahah!

The Mandrake root one is beautiful though, love all those colors. The skeleton patterned wall makes me laugh, you’d think it’d be distracting to play basketball with all those dead eyes starring at you 😀

Happy Halloween, Resa! I don’t really do trick or treating or play dress ups, so it’ll be a quiet night watching movies for my hubby & I.

    1. Lol!
      I know I jumped… for joy.
I always get excited when I find new street art. Yahoo!

The mandrake is from a larger mural, and it’s one of the better parts. There is also a gorgeous rose in the mural.

I hadn’t thought about skulls being distracting during a game. You have a point. I did see the basket, but alas, it was a distant side note to the art.

Will you and hubs watch any thriller movies on Halloween night?
An oldie, like… Hitchcock’s Rear Window or Psycho?

So, I’ve cleared a lot off my posting plate, and will be ready to start work in earnest on my post about you & Flixchatter,

Can I use the pic of you and Daisy and Tom? (I have it on my desktop, just in case!)

      1. Awesome! I bet the rose part of that mural is stunning… I just love the colors!

Not sure what we’ll watch yet, but probably something a bit spooky but not terrifying. Hitchcock is a great idea, might rewatch Spellbound as that’s one of my faves due to my undying love for Gregory Peck, ahah!

Oooh I can’t wait for the feature post on my humble lil’ blog… yes you can use that pic, but perhaps I can give you another one that relates to Hearts Want (my passion project)? I’ll send you an email about it! THANK YOUUU!!!

    1. 🍂🍁🎃🧡🧹🧙‍♀️🔥👻🍫🍬🍭🙋‍♂️🍂🍁🎃🧡🧹🧙‍♀️🔥👻🍫🍬🍭🙋‍♂️

  13. Whoa!! You did a fantastic job with your Halloween post. I was all set to sleep with the lights on tonight and never eat cake again, but luckily Warren Zevon brought me out of it. Whew! A very narrow escape.

    1. So, my story terrifies you and my cake sickens you, eh?
I see you have a penchant for werewolves and Warrens.
Well, watch your back (and digestive system)! W & W won’t be around forever!
      Mmmwwwaaaahhhhhhahahaha!

  14. I loved your narration with the photos Resa… A wonderful collection of spooky, wonderful art… A great recipe… Have a lovely time on Halloween… Have FUN.. xx ❤ 🎃🍕🍿🦇🕸

    1. I must be asleep at the computer. I have missed a lot of comments.

Sorry about my late reply, Teagan!

I’m thrilled I gave you a big grin. There’s nothing like happy.

      HUGS!

    1. Thank you, Lauren!
Sorry, I didn’t mean to terrify you. I’m just trying to make a few bucks selling pizza.
Funny thing, sales are very slow. 🤔 My pizza is getting bad reviews. 🍕🤢

Guess I’ll sick to making gowns.
      💃🏽xoxo🎃💀🥰

  15. I love how you created a Halloween Feast, Resa. I have just returned from my blog break – this post is a perfect way to celebrate this special day – with colour, imagination and art. Thank you!

    1. Welcome back, Rebecca!
Yes, it was fun making this post. I save all these odd bits during the year, and see what’s in there for Halloween. It worked out quite well this year.
You are welcome, and Thank You, too!!!!
      Hugs!

  16. Hi Resa, what a fantastic spread of spookiness! After many years of posting on Halloween I decided to take a break from having a scary post (well I did have an Alien in my last post!) but you have more than satisfied our need to be given the shivers!
Oh and a small side note, on my travels in New Zealand I found out that if drivers hit Possums on the road and squashed them the remains are known as “Possum Pizzas” – I wonder if they are similar to the rodent topped ones seen here!

    1. No…. not similar to possum pizzas.

The rat toppings here 100% rat, and are on wheat crusts. I believe the possum pizzas are self crusted.

Glad you stopped by for a bit of Halloween fun, Tyeth! BOO!

  17. Sorry to arrive so late. I hope there’s a slice leftover – cold is OK. Or, maybe I should wish that all the pizza is gone. I am glad I arrived early in the day as opposed to just before bed. Great job, Resa.

    1. Thanks Dan!
Good news! There is lots of pizza left over and BONUS – it has managed to grow a lot of mould overnight.
      Help yourself!
Unfortunately, cats ate all of the left over cake.

        1. Yes, there was fish in the cake. They love fish.

My cats never ate rats. They just cornered them and ripped the throats open. Great sport. They did eat the mice, though.

    1. Finally!
A real rat, after all these years of possums and wart hogs!
Honestly, I was half expecting people to inform me that the rat was actually some kind of muskrat or other rodent.

      Yayayay! Love ya!

  18. I am catching up on all the Halloween posts and for yours truly? This is RIGHT on time because I already miss one of my favorite holidays. And this latest gallivant of yours is amazing, Resa. This is the quintessential Halloween trip, and thank you for it.

As for my spooky pizza, I take it with the works, so YES!

    1. Finally, someone who actually wants a pizza. People have been complaining about the rat faux pepperoni.
      GOOD NEWS!
As you are 3 days late, a tasty layer of green and white mould now tops the toppings. It’s got that look of pesto & goat cheese.

All this at no extra cost!
      How many would you like?

      1. Art is art, pizza is pizza and brilliance is so often misunderstood. So yanno . . .

        BOOM@

Pesto and goat cheese is quite the combination, and it only serves to prove my point that being ‘fashionably late’ is really just being right on time. It’s ALL in how you look at it.

        Can I start a subscription?

        1. A subscription? For weekly rat and mould pizza?
Ohh, a subscription to being “fashionably late”.
          Yes, I subscribe as well.

Not sure what I’m talking about… so…in the event ….

          MUAH

          1. I’m in! LOL

I’m never quite certain what I’m talking about but I am certain that it’s something interesting. Hey, it counts for something.

            See you when I return.

            MUAH!
