Art for Liz

I was chatting in comments with Liz Gauffreau recently.

It got to a point where someone else might have said: I need a drink now, I’m going for a smoke, time for a coffee & some chocolate or think I’ll go for a walk.

.. but Liz, what does she say?

“I think I need some art now.”

How cool is that? Well I have art and told Liz, I have some art for you!

Then, while picking out some art, it was like ..well what does Liz like?

After sweating it out in photo files for a week, the choices were narrowed down to two.

There is this piece, which is avant garde, open to interpretations and I’m sure not everyone’s cuppa tea.

OR a HOT PINK GOD!

HOT PINK GOD is magnificent, classic, sculpture like although flat and accessible in meaning.

Of course there are other art forms, such as music.

I could sing a song for Liz, but I’m sure that would just drive her to needing more art.

It was hard for me to leave this location. I wanted to stay.

After much reflecting on the choice, it was evident that art love is subjective. Therefore it’s difficult to select for anyone other than self.

  1. I think Liz will appreciate it very much, dahling. It’s a brilliant mural with so much to explore.
I can understand how difficult it was leaving it! 😉 I love all the angles you chose to shoot and reflections.
    Lovehugs and lovekisses xo❤️xo❤️xo❤️xo❤️xo
    and pawlove and nosekisses 🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾

    1. Dahling Marina,
I did go a bit nuts taking pics of this mural. I couldn’t stop.
The Graffiti Alley network it’s painted in is an alluring place, with its great art and not so great art. I mean some of it really is rough graffiti, and it all works together.

Love, Pawlove and hugs and kisses!
      ❤️xo❤️xo❤️xo🧽🧽❤️xo❤️xo❤️xo🧽🧽❤️xo❤️xo❤️xo🧽🧽

      1. Exactly, it all works together!
and more Love – Pawlove and hugs + kisses back to you!!!!

        ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    1. You’re welcome, Michael!
Yes, it seems that if the graffiti artists don’t live here, they make a stop and paint some walls. Cheers, Resa!

  2. Seeing that she hasn’t seen this yet, Liz will appreciate this. I like you using a conversive form for this post …. and zooming out with each pic. The third pic is the one that raised my interest! Good find, Resa …. Clink … it’s noon somewhere.

    1. ThanksDave!
The setting… I love it there. I go once a month if I can, but never wait longer than 6 weeks.
Anyone who says they need art, needs an art post. 🎨🤗

        1. Yes, there is always new art.
The artists paint over each others’ art. Some stays intact for a long time, some is gone in a week.
Lol… part of me is afraid I’ll miss something good.

On another note- Crazy, I went online to reserve a book at the Toronto Library. Someone hacked into their computers, and no one can borrow a book right now.
That was over a week ago, and it was already a 10 day old issue.
I just checked, and the computers are still messed up.
I hope it’s not ransom ware. The library has no extra funds. Who hacks into a library?

    1. Reflections are so neat.
I know, rude! At least it’s not one of those big asp garbage units.
Trees are my fave. It’s like the chicken/egg deal. Did someone plant the tree in front of the art, or did someone paint the art behind the tree?

                    1. Hahaha..LOVE it! Sfleece & Seece are great words. They need meanings.
                      (🐑🐑🐑🐏) Flock… 💋💋
That’s why I put brackets, grouping them together.

I think this is perfectly Liz. I love it, too. As you mentioned, there are so many ways to interpret that mural. Having a need for art is much better that the need for tobacco or alcohol. Now chocolate is a basic food group, and walking to find art is an art in itself.

    1. Thanks Tim! Liz hasn’t been here yet. I can hardly wait.
Art is a way better need than tobacco or alcohol.
Walking to find art, I love it! Thanks Tim!
Okay, finally, the wrapping is done! It takes me forever, as I get creative. Made the card as well. xx

  4. “I could sing a song for Liz, but I’m sure that would just drive her to needing more art.” Lol. I enjoyed your choice of art for Liz, Resa. It captured my imagination and made me stay awhile. I like the reflections too! Art expanding into more than one piece. 🙂

    1. Diana,
I’m so happy you pulled out that thought. It was meant to make people chuckle.
Now I know at least 2 people got a kick out of it.
This location is fantastic for finding street art. I need to get back there. It looks like I should be able to in about a week. 🙂

        1. Yes! That’s what is called Graffiti alley. It’s a network of lanes and alleys filled with art and tags and throw-ups and pure graffiti.
The artists and taggers paint over each others work, so it’s constantly changing.
          I love it! Thank you!

    1. I love escaping to this place filled with art! ❤️❤️ Hopefully Liz wull like the piece I selected for her.

BTW, speaking of art; I forget to attach the drawing of FW with the dark hair in the recent mail. I softened the chin a titch, barely noticeable, but it’s a tad better than the original one I sent.
I just sent a reply mail, and put it in that one. xoxoxo

  5. Well, I obviously can’t speak for Liz. All I knows is I just got me a quick fix of some quality artistic product. Aaaaah. 😉

  6. Oh for Liz sake, as someone might say! Your “telling” here is like waking in a dream, oh I know you’ve told us before but not quite like this, it’s growing on me this dream, but then I see, not a dream but reality. Glad reality includes beauty like this, and like you for seeing like this.

    1. Thank you, Neil!
It’s a fab painting for a fab blog pal.
Yes, I am so happy there is beauty in the streets where I live.
      Have a wonderful week ahead!

  7. Hi Resa, several people have mentioned chocolates, wine and exercise in regards to this piece of art and I had a thought. In the UK our government pushed a campaign for better eating , nutrition and health in the form of the “5 A Day” system. It was to promote eating five portions/servings of fruit and veg a day and I wondered if the idea should be expanded to include taking in a piece of artwork a day too?
Anyhoo, I enjoyed this serving of art too so thanks for supplying my artistic nutrition.

    1. Hmm, I’d say yes, an art a day keeps the doctor away!
Speaking of which, time to go draw!
Don’t forget to take your art all week, Tyeth!
      And have a good one!

  8. I don’t know how anyone can dislike the choices you make, especially when you are thinking of them as you share the art. So, I’ll go with everyone is saying, Liz will surely appreciate this one. I know I do. I can see why you didn’t want to leave it, Sorceress. Beautiful piece that can be interpreted in myriad ways!

    1. Thunder!
Thank you for this lovely comment. You are a lilac.
If I had a tent with me, I would have pitched it there.
      I just love those alleys.
I’m thrilled you like this piece, too.
      Okay, time to draw.
      xoxoxo
PS. I’ve only picked up a tad of speed, but I did make the straps, make the last 2 creative/tech decisions and finish with the painting. YAY!

    1. It’s a terrific work of art. The Half Decent is a tattoo artist by trade. I’d love to bump into him while he’s painting! Love gift…. right on! xxx

  9. You have the best way to celebrate, Resa! Art connects us to each other and to communities, local and global. Liz will LOVE this mural. As do we all!! Many thanks, my dear friend.

  10. Thank you so much for the art, Resa! I appreciate your thinking of me. I love the art you chose!! Based on where the color is, I would say our lady of the wall is strong, smart, and courageous.

  11. Thank you again for the gift of art, Resa! It never ceases to amaze me what beauty human beings are capable of creating in so many different modes of expression. Just thinking about it makes me happy to be alive.

  12. Resa, absolutely love how you find mural creations and send them our way. With interpretations that that bring out the beauty and meaning. This one and your creative words were perfect for Liz. 🧡🎶🧡

    1. Thank you Christine! It was total fun doing this for Liz! It’s fun to find these, and fun to share. Art, all of its genres, keep me going! 🧡🎶🧡

      1. You live in an art rich place, surrounded by art. Don’t see that in SoCal. I can say though, writing keeps me going (sequel in progress), and two Border Aussie doggies. 🐶🎶📚🎶🐶🎶🧡

  13. You’re right that art is subjective. Not everyone will love or interpret a piece the same way… and that makes it all the most special! Sounds like a great convo with Liz.

  14. A most thought provoking work of art. (Like, What in the square? Who put it on her head. Did she do it herself? Or is it not a square, merely a cross section of some larger material…) Just for starters.

    1. I don’t know what the artist means!
Still I like it a lot.
Her head is stuck in a cube (ice?) but her hair flies free.
? We can find freedom within the limitations of our prisons.?

  16. Good for Liz! And what an intriguing and beautiful piece of art! What does it mean? Art is definitely subjective, isn’t it, Resa? When I look at this, I think of her emotions as numbing, like her life is in turmoil, she’s restrained in some way. I don’t know. I’m not an artist in this way. But it surely is thought-provoking! Great find! Hugs xoxoxo

    1. Agree, it is thought provoking!
Art is totally subjective. We see what we want, even if the artist had a specific message.
Poetry is like that to me.
Whatever you meant, I might get that, more, less or something altogether different.

      Long live the arts!
Hugs to you, and a special kiss for you know who!
      xoxoxo🧽🧽🧽🤗

      1. Sorry I forgot to reply back to you, Resa! I saw this and then it slipped away! Anyway, I agree with everything you said. And thanks for the hugs and special kiss for you know who. He loves kisses! 😘 😘😘😘😘🧽🧽🧽🧽🧽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

        1. No worries, Lauren!
I find missed comments all the time. I’m easy peasy!
          Also, WP has many gremlins.
          😘😘🧽🧽🧽❤️❤️
