She’s Hot … Pink

This face is small, but dominates the section of alley she lives in.

    1. Agree Dave.. nice art.
Lol.. when I found her, it was the opposite. The last pic would be first, as I came up the alley (my heart beating faster the closer I got.)
I decided to present her the opposite way. Either way I hope to pass on some of the experience of the joy of the find.
      🙂

    1. I agree about holding some secrets.
Yes, Betsy McCaul. I was thrilled to find she was not cut out of the magazine.
Most of the old magazines I’ve collected are flaking apart. I’m documenting the bits that I really like before giving them away…. or sadly many are going/flaking into the recycling.

  1. She is great! She does remind me of someone, but I can’t think who. At first I was thinking “Blade Runner”, but that’s not it. Pulp Fiction? Closer, but not quite right. (Odd, but both woman are smoking in the stills from the films that I have in mind.) Anyway, great find 🙂

    1. (hot) Smoking women smoking…. interesting.
It’s a look that was a must in the “old” days, and is now the look of an in your face rebel.
Now that you’ve said she reminds you f someone…I’m wondering?
She’s one of those bits that makes me shiver when I find it.

    1. Yeah! The artist, Bunso is new on the scene, and he’s been doing some fab street art!
I hope I collected enough art to get through much of the winter.
Still, I will go out looking when it’s above freezing and no ice on the street!
      💗 xoxoxo

        1. It’s going to be dark here every day for at least 10 days. 😵‍💫 I’m living in a cave.
Finished RB drawing last night. I’ll take a picture shortly and send it. x❤️🌸o

                  1. Still ok. Storm approaching. Tornadoes in the Panhandle ( Panama City). Thunder wind and lightning. Thankfully I got off the roads and home early. 😬🐭🐭😰😬

    1. You are welcome, Becky. It made me think of you because of your posts about finding old books, and ??? Whatever, you popped into my head.

        1. I adore them.
They show what life was like. I collected them for research for my job. Now there is internet research available, and the magazines are crumbling.
I have save a few in mint condition and keep them in plastic.

    1. Thank you, dear John!
Yes, the pink lady is a beauty. I wonder if she is still there, or if the taggers had their way?
I never had any Betsy McCall paper dolls, but I loved paper dolls when I was a kid.
Cutting them out was the fun part. Then I would make my own outfits for them.
Hmm, I guess that played out in my life!
      🐂 🐂 🐂

            1. Well now! The green apple OX is a twist.
Seems you were destined for writing.
              …Or possibly stand up comedy!
              🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂 💋🍏X 🍏X

    1. Agree, and I’m not supposed to be blogging.
I’m supposed to be drinking tea and drawing AGM Dale for the next Art Gowns post.
      xo⚡️💥ox

      1. Oh stop it! You can do a little of this, a little of that. Not like you’re on a time schedule!
Looking forward to the post, though. 😉
        xo 🧚‍♂️🌟 ox

        1. Thunder, how did yo know I’d still be here? 🙄
Okay, not on a sched… but I’m looking forward to the post too!
11 drawings are needed. 6 done! 4 started & a really hard one for last! xoxoxo

          1. A wild guess 😊
I just watched half of the Miami-Buffalo game and we’re (Miami) ahead 14-7 after halftime. I should be sleeping by now!
More than half are done! Woot! Hardest, most challenging will also be the most satisfying when you’ve completed it. xoxoxo 😘

    1. Thank you, Niel!
I’m crazy about street art. I’ll share with all.
It’s wonderful that many street artists find their way “inside”
ie commissions for garage door art and murals, art shows, canvas painting sales and commissions, etc.

  2. She does dominate the scene. I think the black with the pink makes her more dramatic. She’s like a performer in a spotlight in that moment just before she sings.

    1. Ahh, yes! She is indeed a performer, waiting for her close-up, which I took.

The black with the pink (or any hot colour) makes me think of Yves St. Laurent in the 80’s.
      I just love the alleys!

    1. Squatting! It’s the way in today’s world.
Rent is for people who make money. I hear some people are being paid in pot noodles and Marmite. xx

  3. She’s hot and beautifully pink! The artist painted her in the perfect spot!
    Love – hugs and slobberies!
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    1. I agree, dahling!
      I love that alley.

  4. It’s a gorgeous little mural, Resa — a terrific find. I love the colors.
I apologize that I’ve been missing posts here. Somehow I got it into my head that your Art Gowns blog and this one had been combined. I need to remember to visit both. Hugs.

    1. I adore this, and I got the shivers when I found her.
No worries on missing any post. You are speaking with one of the top 10 most haphazard bloggers.
I’m still trying to figure how to combine the posts. They seem so separate.
First thing is to find a theme that would suit.
      Hugs!

  5. You ability to position your lens to offer a unique perspective makes your posts come alive. She is hot, vital and resilient. I am so glad that you added pages from the 1962 issue of McCall’s magazine. I loved playing with paper dolls. It was so much fun!!!

    1. I was hot pink thrilled when I found this, Rebecca.
That 1962 McCalls magazine is falling apart. The pages tear when you turn them.
It was a fun duty to scan the Betsy McCall paper doll. I loved playing with them, too.
(Sent the latest art director drawing!)

    1. Part of me lives to find street art.
So, Diana, I finished your terrific book.
I have questions forming, and will be in touch by email.
I’m currently drawing a Gowntoons episode.
Once that’s done, I’ll be on to “Caitling’s Bane” drawings.
      Yahoo!

  6. Another incredible find. I would never have known we have so much street art in our city if it weren’t for your FBI and photographic captures. Hugs ❤ xxx (doing my magic tricks again to get this comment through.) xx

    1. Our city is loaded with street art.
I’m glad you enjoy the art,Debby!
Maybe once you’ve gotten through a few time, it will loosen up…like a greased wheel. 🤭LOL!
      xoxo💓🤗

      1. Lolol Resa. Whatever works! I’ve had to log out, leave, come back, log in and then re-comment. Where there’s a will there’s a way, lol. Hugs ❤ 🙂 xoxo

  7. Excellent. Very good eyes. We would say in French “Elle a des yeux qui lui mangent le visage.” Her eyes are eating her face, which is not bad, just means very big eyes… Not to mention her gaze… 👍🏻

    1. Oh, I like that!
Yes, the artist painted more than just a pair of eyes. She is looking for or at something.
(My glasses eat my face. 😂)

    1. Mischief abounds in that alley, Lauren.
She is a beauty. Will she be there when I go back? Who knows?
      That alleyis constantly evolving.
      xx💓oo

      1. Oh, I wonder what you’ll find next! Every day, I pass by this donut shop that has an elephant mural on the side of the building, and I love elephants. So, one day I’m going to sneak in a photo (or a few). The parking isn’t easy though, which is why I haven’t stopped yet. But I think of you because of the artwork and your knack for finding gorgeous work. 💖🎊🌻

  8. Hi Resa, what a beautiful mural. The nuances in the face created through colour and shading are amazing. A talented artist. I don’t know this particular paper doll character, but I loved paper dolls as a little girl. I fact, I still like them – smile.

    1. The artist is new on the scene. The first street art I found by him was early spring last year. Since, I have been finding more. I agree, he is talented.
Me too, I still like paper dolls. Have you ever heard of Stardoll? It’s digital paper dolls. https://www.stardoll.com/en/
