I thought of Betty Boop or Clara Bow, too–it’s the little bow mouth and the thin eyebrows, as well as the expression.

The face is fab, but the writing seems fake.
Writing goes back to the 70’s, as far as I know. Maybe the 60’s in NYC subways.
If I hadn’t seen so many amazing burners in my street art experiences, I might not care.

Hello Resa, I too got Betty Boop vibes from this portrait – it’s those eyes and mouth that do it. Regards the text, not sure what that says but I regularly see artwork like it on the railway wagons that pass through my town carrying fuel pellets to a local power station. The wagons make for very large “canvasses”!

The I can’t Breathe was done after George Floyd and the artist community had a paint off for BLM in Graffiti Alley. Nick Sweetman and some pals did the Ukrainian mural. It’s a beautiful work, also in Graffiti Alley.

It wasn’t really a complaint, so no worries 🙂 I can’t say how many times I look at photos I have taken and realize that I forgot to get some of the important ones – we see things different in the moment than in hindsight.
