March is Kids’ Month on GLaM.

It all began last year… on Ste J’s Bookmust blog when he reblogged a piece about
Michelle Eastman Books. Michele hosts a Picture book drive, “Picture Book Pass It On” every year in March to collect picture books for children with incarcerated parents. She has started early this year on Michele Eastman Books on FaceBook
⭐ Michele tells me she has already received signed books from from Robert Munsch (Love You Forever, The Paper Bag Princes) and Nick Bruel (Bad Kitty series) ⭐

I’d love you to contribute a poem or short story! On my menu bar is “Kids”. In this page you will find Street Art suited for children. You can use one of these pics to write to.
You can post it on your blog, & I will reblog it. Or, send me your words that go with the shot(s) you’ve chosen. I will post it as a Guest Submission. The choice is yours!

During Kids’ Month, find on my sidebar, links to

and several other charities that help children. I’m up for suggestions on Children’s Charities.

I will always credit &/or © your intellectual property.

It is my glory to have received a guest submission from the artist, Mike Johnston.

The first 6 pieces of art shown in this article were all painted during the summer of 2016 in Winnipeg.

I asked Mike to tell me a bit about himself.
♢

I, for one, am thrilled Mike has come out of hibernation. His work is eye-catching, totally gorgeous and the details are mesmerizing.

I asked Mike about this very interesting work of art, shown in the above photo, and next 2 shots.

Mike: “The mural with the panels was a painting i put up at a recent art show. The blank spaces are the paintings that came from the installation.”
I love it!

The following shots are some earlier examples of Mike’s work.

You can visit Mike on his Website www.murdersnest.com .. where, if you’re in need of some gorgeous art on your building or on your body, he has a Contact Page.

Below, is Lester. This was one of the very first pieces of Street Art I ever encountered in Winnipeg. However, Lester was seriously obscured by industrial trash bins. Two years later, I returned, only to find a good portion of this amazing work had eroded due to the harsh Winnipeg Winters.
Mike, thank you for this pic!

All art in this post is by Mike Johnston.

Mike is also represented in The Murals of Winnipeg Just use the search engine to find him.
These Eyes & Body Sugar are 2 previous posts on GLaM that show early bits of Mike’s work.
Mike, thank you x a million for your wonderful art, and for allowing me this feature on my blog. I am honored.

I found this tribute, by Elicser, in Graffiti Alley, Toronto.

You can read about him & listen to his raps on the King Reign Website

He was a Toronto Gem. Young to die, & honestly, I don’t know everything. However, this is a beautiful work of art.

How cool is this?

On a skyscraper near St. Clair and Yonge is …

… an 8 story tall piece by the internationally renown U.K. artist, Phlegm.

I had to walk a half block past the building it is painted on, marauder my way through a corporate towers’ garden & mud to find a spot where I could capture this masterpiece.

I shot fast, as I figured I might be asked to leave the private property.

This is the only real vantage point for amateur photographers, and therefore tourists to capture this wonder. So, I think whatever corporation owns the property should build a walkway for us. It’s just a thought.

From my spring 2014 visit to Winnipeg…

… are these butterflies painted on a heavily stuccoed building.

To me, they are a reprieve from the cold and snow.
