Have You Ever Seen the Rain,

Coming Down on a Sunny Day?

I spotted this being painted while passing in a street car. I waited 3 days and returned.

The painting was not quite finished, and there was a cherry picker blocking the bottom. It was a sunny day, but I was in a mighty blue mood. Some rain had fallen in my life.

I waited 3 more days, and returned to the yellow and blue painting, like sun and rain, to me. I could heard this song. I had been hearing it for 3 days.

I mailed Holly and told her I found a painted poem. I sent a couple of pics and asked did she have any sun and rain poems? Any yellow and blue poems? She sent 3 poems, and a song.

September Rain

The rains come late; vanilla yogurt clouds deepen to ripe blueberry.
Twirling harlequins of wind sweep upward through the lush crowns of Lindens where birds weave wicker, dried stems, and waxy feathers, dripping pearly dew onto overgrown gardens.
Higher, squirrels shelter in rattan dreys, inky shadows among mottled rays that dance on puddles and glistening blades, the potpourri of life.

~~~ Holly Rene Hunter
One was not a rain on a sunny day poem. Rather, she sent flowers on a sun’s shore.
FLOWER GIRL
Where are you my love?
Chasing shadows along sun swept shores?
Turbulence has exfoliated the rosy blush from my cheeks. When we speak our words drift away on the wind.
If you should change your mind I’ll be waiting by the garden gate flowers in my hair.
– Holly Rene Hunter
It Feels Like Rain
The earthy scent of petrichor clings to our skin,  overflows my eyes,  slips down our cheeks to mingle with  salty lips.
We know how it feels to swim in sun drenched rivers,  to touch the moon and feel the sear of the  sun.
Your song  fills the sky with falling stars.
But mine bring the rain…
I bring the rain.
It feels like rain…
You know it feels like rain.
  1. Wow, this is really something, Resa! So glad you waited for three days to capture this amazing mural. I love the combination of stunning street art and Holly’s words; this is indeed a painted poem brought to life! Your photos, and the way you show us the overall art bit by bit, are really wonderful. I was mesmerized by this one! Thanks for sharing 💜🌸
    1. Hello Ada,
      It really is a fabulous painting. Going back to capture wall art is a must do for me, whatever the reason.
      Holly is a wonderful poet and a gem to lend me her poetry for my creative endeavours.
      This one is mesmerizing, and captured me before it was even finished. Ada, thank you for checking out the art, and leaving this wonderful comment! 🎨💖
    1. Thanks Merril! I adore this work of art.
      Yes, I spent some time chatting with Paul Jackson (the one standing outside the bucket).
      He was most generous with his time. I turn into a bitiot (bit of an idiot) when I chat live with artists, musicians…all creatives actually. (an inner groupie issue). So,I can’t remember everything he said. I did go to his website and sign up for his mailing list.
      His art is edgy and modern. It’s a lot more wild than he looks. Anyway, I’m signed up, so when he has a show, I intend to go!
        1. It really is amazing, dear Meece.
          I was surprised to see his own art after seeing this piece of wall art.
          What he was commissioned to do is so different from his own style, that it shows a huge breadth of talent and ability.
          The arts are absolutely thrilling! xoxoxoxo
          1. I’m so glad you met the artist , not unusual for you to get into the mix and learn about these artist that light up our surroundings. I’m sure he was pleased to meet you as well.
            Thank you again for this day-brightener and for including my poems.
            The arts definitely are thrilling and something we can redirect to that really makes a difference in our world.
            Adore you Meece!
            xoxoxoxo
            1. Me too… the artist was very lovely and gave me a nice chunk of chat time.
              Your poems are a MUST!
              And all the arts are so special. They hold more power than we know.
              This is why I love Jesse Welles so much. He is trying with his protest type songs, using humour and music to message.
              XOXOXOXO
        1. I’m looking forward to his next show.
          And now the Jesse Mockrin exhibition started at the AGO, but I’ll wait a few weeks before I go. There’s always line-ups at the new shows.
          While I’m there I’m excited to see some works by Allison Katz. I just found out about this.
    1. Cheers to you Martha!
      I adore this mural. My mood, well, the sad things in life pass. We have had some illness and a death in the family. It’s not earth shattering, but does create a time for reflection.
      Also, there’s an art showing coming to the AGO that is exciting me. Happiness is creeping back. It always does for me.
      You be well! xx
  2. Resa!
    You pitched a perfect game here! Sorry . . that’s sports ball talk. It means you have painted a masterpiece, which you have.
    I love this lady in blue. I love the poetic prowess of Ms. Holly. I love the video.
    Perfect times three!
    PS- Sunny days are the worst when you’re not feeling sunny
    1. Aww, thank you, dear Marc!
      Lol, sports talk, that’s okay. You see, if you hadn’t mentioned that it was sports talk, I’d be thinking pitch fork..pitching hay. Although “game” is another tip off.
      The mural is gorgeous and Holly’s poetry is such a perfect compliment. Matter of fact ‘m almost finished 6 drawings inspired by 5 of her poems… for Art Gowns.
      Sad on a sunny day is quite a juxtaposition in life; grist for the mill.
      I just love the music in this post. I only recently discovered Jesse Welles. I’m blown away!
      MUAH!
      1. Is there a pitchfork league? If not, maybe we can start one up! It won’t be sports though, it’ll be agriculture meets strategy meets deep fried foods.
        So luscious, all of it!
        It’s true though. Sometimes I prefer the rainy days because then I don’t feel so bad about being depressed.
        SO good!
        MUAH!
  3. loving the slow reveal with the pull out to the long shot… plus the pluviophilic perk of perceiving the palabra “petrichor” ☔🌧️😊
    1. Thank you dear 𝓖𝓻𝓐ḫⱯƜ!
      Admittedly I had to look up “pluviophilic”, and now it all makes sense.
                1. AND ɢøšʜ∂ɐʁɴ I found another Mandala(ish) today. That makes 4. I’ll need 2-3 more for a post. Also, there’s a slash of sun on the lower left of the one today. It’s useable, but I’ll reshoot it if I get the chance. It’s close by… so it could happen before I find 2 more.
                  1. thanks for the update ʁɞşα 👍 looking forward to seeing that post when you have enough material.
                    pesky sun 🌞 how dare it interfere with your shot 😱 but hey! embrace the imperfectoin 🙏😌
                    ʟ⁸ʁ
  4. Dear Resa, I hope the sun is shining for you today . I love this gorgeous artwork , such a lovely blu lady. Thank you for letting me shower you with a bit of rainy poetry. Thinking bout you and sending sunshine your way ☀️⛅️
    xoxoxoxoxo
    1. Thank you dear Holly!
      Actually it is so grey here, that I feel sunny by comparison. 🤭
      I love all the poetry you shower me with.
      And the SC last pic is almost done. I just painted the hallway walls & that takes until tonight to dry. Then I’m colouring in some rose vines and bits.
      I adore you! I adore your poetry!
      xxoxoxoxoxoxo
      1. It’s such a joy to be a part of your posts that truly inspire us , so much beauty here. The amazing treat of virtually meeting the artist of this beauty is very special. We can always count on you to get that conversation going with these extremely talented people, I’m sure it’s a treat for them to discuss their projects with you.
        I’m so excited about SC… no one artistically expresses a subject better than you , I’m the luckiest Meece around.
        Love you to pieces.
        xoxoxoxoxo
        1. Aww, shucks. xoxoxoxoxo
          I’m quite worked up about SC.
          Once I start taking pics, I will see needed touch ups. Also, as SC is a mood, I am going to try a slower shutter speed, to make them look more moody.
          Love you to Meeces’ pieces too!
          xoxoxoxoxo
                1. Oh yeah!
  5. What a glorious post! Holly’s poetry the musical selections the art- and a cameo by the artists themselves. What a beautiful way to being a rainy Saturday morning…. Thank you Resa.
    1. Violet, you are welcome! Thank you for this most lovely comment!
      Holly’s poetry is just the best, and she’s a wonderful pal to let me use it as much as I do!
      Happy day!
    1. Yes, I hear you Dan!
      Art is a wonderful thing. All of the arts keep me going. I’m happy you got to check out this creative post from Holly and me!
      1. It really made my day, Resa. While there seems to be a concentrated effort to extinguish the light of art and humanity, you, Rene, and the other AGM family blaze brightly, a beacon for what is good and kind on our blue planet.
        1. Thank you Dan!
          What’s hard for me to understand is how/why people choose an ugly path of hate, all the way to war.
          We humans never seem to learn. We just seem to keep getting in each others’ way.
          The arts have survived many purges, and much has been lost. Still, much is retained.
          It seems the ephemerality of street art is what drives me to record it.
          1. I’ve lived through much violent upheaval in the world and these days worry me more than anytime before. To me, the expression of the arts is proof there is still a thread of humanity left, that love and kindness isn’t a social media trick. It gives me hope we’ll recover from this madness that has fallen on us like a dense fog. The arts unite us by showing us the beauty that lives in the mind and spirit. There is no evil in the pure expression of creativity. Blessed are the creators of the arts, they are the true peacemakers.
            1. I agree, on everything! Sigh!
              The 60’s were tense, but I wasn’t old enough to know that. I’ve seen retrospective into the Vietnam years, the assassinations and Women’s Lib second wave.
              I did a movie about Vietnam, and learned a lot.
              We are in the first global upheaval of my lifetime, and an America that I can’t understand.
              Make art not war!
              1. Beautifully said Resa. Many Americans are worried about where we are being forced to go in our divisive political ideology that permeates every second of our lives. The criminally insane claim they are the norm and the people who were once the backbone of our society and government are now the scapegoats deemed evil by authority of the insane. Our troubles have infected the entire world. Make art, not war should be our mantra.
                  1. Welcome Dave! 👍
                    I already suspect you have a breakfast cereal made out of old books, fortified with vitamins & minerals including the entire B complex.
                    1. Ahh, of course. The only cereal I eat is porridge & I put maple syrup solo on it.
                      I drink chocolate almond milk for my bones. It’s delicious!
    1. Yes, a pick me up painting. I was crazy for it from first glimpse.
      Holly’s poems are perfect. I can’t thank her enough for letting me use them!
  6. Timothy Price's avatar Timothy Price
    Fantastic post, Resa. The mural is beautiful, and how cool is that to meet the artists? Holly’s poem is perfect. We’ve been seeing the rain.
  7. 🌺💙”I Loove The Flower Girl.” Sorry you were feeling blue, but catching the artists at work— that’s a cheer-up. Loving the music, including John Hiatt’s Strat guitar work🎸 But my fav part of this post is the gradual camera pull-out reveal from close-up to wide shot by the end. I see what you did there🎥👍😎
    1. EF!
      Yes, it sure is a cheer up. I’m alway happy when I find cool art, especially in the street.
      Yes, the music is fabulous.
      Aww, many thanks about my presentation! I try to bring it, as I saw it. There is a magic when I first see the art, and I like to preserve that here.
    1. Ha! I’ve never been to Hawaii, but I can see that, now that you mention it.
      Very cool to meet the artists. 🌟
      I’m always a bit goofy when I do. I turn into a bit of a groupie. LOL!
  8. Resa, what an extraordinary collaboration between image and word. The mural is powerful on its own, but paired with Holly’s poems it becomes something entirely new — a dialogue between colour, form, and voice. Each piece you’ve shared carries its own rhythm: September Rain full of motion, Flower Girl tender with longing, and It Feels Like Rain pulsing with emotion.
    Thank you for bringing all of these together so we can experience not just the art on the wall, but the echo it inspires in words and music. A true celebration of creativity flowing across forms.
    1. Thank you Rebecca! I am so thrilled and grateful Holly lets me use her fabulous poetry. She’s the best, and I adore collabing with her.
      Yes, a dialogue makes perfect sense; a dialogue via the arts.
      Brings to mind the saying: Make Art not War!
      I’m glad you got to see this fab work of art, and the post. Your comment is most insightful, very welcome here today! Hugs!
  9. What an interesting mural, with the flowers and fruit! It is great. Loved Holly’s poems to go with it 🙂 Cool that you met the artists.
    “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” is one of the songs I do for my voice lessons. Strangely enough, it is actually when of my better ones.
    1. It’s a gorgeous work, and Holly’s poetry is a perfect compliment.
      Yes.. I adore meeting artists. Big Time.
      Love that song, Trent. The 2 acoustic guitars and rough voices really drive it home for me.
      Apparently Fogerty wrote that song when he was on tour with Creedence, and knew they were breaking up after it.
      How cool that this is one of your practice songs? Very cool! Can you play it on the guitar? You know I want to hear that!
      1. It is a gorgeous work 🙂
        It is actually pretty easy to play on the guitar, but… I sing it in a different key, and playing in the other key, well, you can’t use the same type of chords so it sounds different. Well, I think I can use a capo, except that I need to go down a step, which, hmm.. Anyway, some day I may try.
  10. My lord, this is epic on every level, you, Holly, the music. CCR originally apparently about the break up of the band. On my coming b/day party play list . xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for this great post.
    1. Thank you dear Shey!
      Holly and I had a good time doing up this post.
      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
      I wanted to use some expression that might be found in “Wryson’s Eternity”, but I’m not that good at it yet.
      Still, I’m good at the book AND Dover just showed up! YIKES!
              1. Oh what a relief you are loving it, cos I had all sorts of bother writing her and eventually I just had to let go her own way, no matter how unstraight her thoughts always her. . The huffs, the taking offence, the if she was Cleopatra now… The flouncing off… The clothes?? Well, fot someone who does not want to attract attention she is doing the rounds In that hat and god-awful you can’t miss her or it coat. It is like her suit of armor in a way, And I saw the gown as backless… SO I am thinking WOW. We are away for a few days to Edinburgh and this has quite put me in the best mood possible. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx You
                1. LOVING IT!
                  By the time you get home, I’ll have finished reading, and be drawing Eternity.
                  Yes.. the gown. If you’ve said the colour, I ruefully missed it. But so far I keep seeing a green that would set off her red hair.
                  NOT arsenic green, a bit yellow for her, and still a few years away in actual history.
                  You may yet, reveal the colour in the book, so don’t tip me off. I’ll be getting back to you.
                  The coat? Well, it’s hardly one that fits well, else how would she be nicking things proper.
                  Still, not to have her look like a total bum in my drawings (and she does have that hat!! So, not disguised as a man) she could be wearing a man’s frock coat, that hangs loose and has some feminine shape.
                  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                  Have fun in Edinburgh!
                  1. Sounds fabulous… Loving me this coat. Truly she keeps all sorts in her pockets. Okay she is living in that cottage but often she’s been homeless and those who did live that way kept everything they needed in their pockets. She also keeps things she can sell on. AS YOU WELL NOTE xxxxxxx The green is perfect for her. It would set off her hair. (I think that gown is kind of silvery gauzy, so green could be the color underneath the shimmery gauze. LOVE YOU for this and your wonderful comment. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                    1. Ahh..I can see that for the gown.
                      AND the coat is velvet.
                      I’m going to start drawing tonight. I’ve got an idea for a head shot. I will be using the cover as a reference for her basic features, and crazy red hair.
                      THEN … well if I pull this off, you will get the drawing soon enough!
                      xxxxxxxxxxxxx
  11. Oh how fun is this, Resa!!!!
    Love you meant the artists and Holly’s poems so perfect for this amazing mural and your song pairing was of course sooo wonderful! Love the colors, flowers and fruit. Sooo yummy and appealing.
    Cheers to you two!!!
    💃🏻❤️💃🏻
  12. Wow!! What a stunner! I’m glad you were patient enough to wait three days to see this beautiful mural come alive. Her face is so gorgeous, and I love the flowers + fruits at the bottom. So fun that you even met the artist as well; that is so cool! I love your spirit of collaboration, Resa… I love Holly’s poem; it’s so perfect for this art.
    You said ‘Some rain had fallen in my life…’ which I take it as a metaphor? Hope all is well, my friend, sending you love + virtual hugs from Minnesota. Love you bunches and still ever so grateful for our collab! ❤︎ · ♡ · ♥︎ · ᢉ𐭩 · ❦ · ᥫ᭡ · ‪‪❤︎‬‬.
    1. Yes, a stunner!
      Going back was lots of fun, especially meeting the artists.
      Agree, Holly’s poetry is a perfect compliment to this art.
      So, I sent you an email last night, just before hitting the hay. It vanished!!! Never saw anything like it.
      It was a bit lengthy and explained my rain, and I was too tired to rewrite it.
      I sent a follow up note, in case you got the first one. That one says sent, but I’ll wait to hear from you.
      Mystery time! I’ll rewrite the first one if you don’t find it.
      It’s such a fun time collabing with you, and we will again soon.
      Love you bunches! ❤︎ · ♡ · ♥︎ · ᢉ𐭩 · ❦ · ᥫ᭡ · ‪‪❤︎‬‬.
      1. Your posts are always so entertaining and uplifting, Resa!
        I just replied to your email… sorry I didn’t read it sooner. I love this quote from Maya Angelou… “God puts rainbows in the clouds so that each of us – in the dreariest and most dreaded moments – can see a possibility of hope” I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers 🧡 🙏💛
        1. Thank you dear Ruth!
          That is a beautiful quote, THANK YOU!
          No worries. I just replied to you mail.
          I also forwarded the latest ecopy of the EMMY magazine! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
  13. Wow, stellar post, Resa! Came home from a sun struck afternoon to rain puddles on my road. Perfect timing for sun showers art and songs.
    Loved her eyes, learned a lot within those orbs. Really enjoyed watching and seeing and listening to the intensity of musicians at work and play.
    Appreciating the effort you and Holly put into this composition. Thank you!
    1. Ahh, I like that synchronicity.
      Art, especially street art is inspiring to me. One creation leads to another.
      You are welcome, Cheyenne, and thank you!
  14. Wow.Paintings and poems together speak to my soul in the most profound way. The emotions conveyed through Resa’s brushstrokes blend beautifully with the enchanting words of Holly, creating a harmonious expression of art and feeling.
  15. This post is one of my favorites, Resa. The mural is stunning! I love the colors, and she is gorgeous. Then to bring in Holly’s poetry, well, stunning all over again. A spectacular collaboration! And how wonderful that you were able to meet the artist. Thanks to you and Holly!🩷💜💙❤️🩵
    1. And thank you to you too, for this lovely comment, Lauren!
      This is a fun and rich collaboration.
      I’m on the artist’s mailing list, so I’m hoping he’ll have a show in the near future!
      💜💙❤️🤩🤩💜💙❤️
      1. You’re welcome, Resa! This is a great collaboration, and it would be amazing if he has a show in the future that you could attend. Sorry for the late reply too. I saw your comment and thought I had replied. 🙂
        Anyway, love this! 💖🌺💖🌺💖
        1. No worries!
          I hope to get out to see his, as many art other shows as possible this upcoming winter. If it’s too cold to walk outdoors, might as well walk around in the galleries!
          xoxo🍂💜
  16. Let’s have the 121st comment! Lovely post, featuring a stunning mural and three excellent poems by dear Holly. Thanks, dear Resa, also for the song – I know and used to play the original version by C. C. R. back in the day!
    Sending hugs. 🤗👏💞🌹
    1. Yay!!!! 121!
      Thanks so much Aladin! We had a blast putting this together.
      Do you ever play the CCR song these days?
      HUGS back! ☺️☺️☺️xxxxxxxxx
      1. Both of you are truly creative geniuses! It’s been a while since I busked as a one-man band on the streets, and back then I used to perform some CCR songs, among others (more than 90 songs!). 😜😅
        Now, my fingers and mind just aren’t as nimble as they used to be. 🤗💞😘
          1. Honestly, I had to look up what karaoke actually is! 😅
            I think you meant that if I had those lyrics in front of me, I’d say no! I didn’t know such things, and if I had, I wouldn’t have had the money to buy them; so, I just made everything up in my head. I still wonder how I managed to do that! 😜🤗💖
    1. Thank you, dahlin’!
      It’s lots of fun doing posts together. I can hardly wait until you aren’t so crazy busy. Then maybe we can colab on a post!
      You always make my day!
      xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
  17. Fantastic collab Resa and Holly. Such a poignant painting Resa. I love that you went back for the completion. I loved this poetic imagery Holly added to story. And I love the song, Have You Ever Seen Rain. Hugs to both.🧡💚💜❌⭕
    1. Thank you Thomas!
      Holly and I enjoy creative colabs. So much fun, as is the street art.
      The song is A++++, as is the cover by Jesse & Matt!
    1. You are welcome Brian!
      I adore this painting, and I’m so fortunate to know Holly. She makes my life abetter creative place.
      That pesky rain. Well, let’s just say it’s let up a bit for awhile. xx
    1. Yayay! Liz, I don’t know where I would be without art, all the arts.
      The first video features my New Fave Singer Songwriter. I know it’s a cover, but he writes a lot of his own songs…protest songs. He has a biting sense of sarcasm.
                    1. It is gut wrenching.
                      I subscribe, too. I hope Jesse rises so high & loud that the whole world hears him, before the felon crushes him, like he’s doing with the late night talk hosts.
  18. What a wonderful painting Resa! Even better to discover it touch by touch along the days. It’s nice you got to meet the artists too…
    Love the poems and songs sent by Holly 💙 A real delight for the ears, eyes and heart.
  19. Like the White Rabbit, I’m late again, Resa… I’m sorry that “rain fell in your life.” I hope all is well. ❤
    This post is beyond cool! Judging by the gigantic number of comments, I'm far from the only one who thinks so. OMG, you got to meet the artist! Congrats to Paul Jackson on this truly splendid mural. Adding the plums was genius (great symbology for the moment). Thanks for sharing Holly's wonderful poems. All of this came together beautifully. Be well, be happy. Hugs on the wing.
    1. Never any worries, Teagan!
      I adore this mural! Then again I say that about them all.
      Yes, I met the artists. Paul was especially lovely, and chatted with me for a fair but of time.
      I signed up for his mailing list. I’m hoping he will have a show in the future!
      Holly’s poetry tops the post up beautifully! It was fun working on this one.
      I got your mail, and will reply tomorrow. I was out all day, then made dinner for 2, and still want to sew of draw tonight and answer comments on the Copper post.
      BUG HIGS! 🤭
    1. You are welcome, Diana! It was a fun post to make. It’s always the best for me when I’m doing posts with &/or for blog pals.
      Have fun, whatever you are up to! x
  20. Goodness Resa, what dedication to your art! I loved that you traveled back and forth and photographed this gorgeous piece of art in the process of creation. What a great post – the music (I loved it) – Holly’s poems – perfect pairing with her lucious words. What a great photograph of the artist and the cherry picker. I bet that was a lot of fun talking to the artist. I love the close up work you provided as well. Big hugs and thanks for sharing this amazing post!
    1. Joni! How fab to see you.
      I was wondering if you had fallen off my email post notifications, but then I saw one come in a coupe of days ago. I’m way behind visiting.
      I adore this mural, and am thrilled you got to see it! And Holly’s poems are so perfect. She’s wonderful to let meuse them!
      Thank you so much for this lovely comment!!! BIG HUGS!
      1. No, I have had very limited exposure but I am slowly catching up. It is a joy to check out your amazing post. What a wonderful opportunity you faithfully took advantage of and I enjoyed it very much. Loved the music and the close up shots were appreciated. Holly’s words are amazing too and a magical fit with the art and even the street artist with their cherry picker, wow. 🦋❤️🦋
        1. It was a a fun find and a fun post with Holly!
          Thank you again for “One Petal at a Time”! I read a poem every so often. I keep it beside my computer, so I can pick it up whenever the time feels right.
          I will review it one day, when I finish reading every poem.
          I am so impressed.
          Be well Joni! xo 🦋❤️🦋
          1. What a very gracious comment. I am so honored that you keep my book close by and it is not one to read quickly as it can be overwhelming. Thank you so much. Also never any pressures on reviews from me. Knowing someone reads my work is a review in itself.
            I have always enjoyed your collaborations with Holly. They are always fun and stunning. There is always so much to every post. 😘
