It was mayhem, a potpourri of colour.
I fell in love with the tiger. I thought of all my cat pals.
Upon entering there is a face to the left.
Straight ahead, left side of the kitchen is another face and the stunning leopard head.
Everything was painted: the cupboards, the stove, the range hood, the walls, the windows and nothing was left to paint, except the paint itself.
So, the paint was painted.
On the right side is an all over abstract mural. I saw the eye, but didn’t see the face until looking at pics.
Here’s a slide show of some more kitchen bits.
Pics taken by Resa – August 11 , 2024
Toronto, Canada
The Artists:
& Natasha Dichpan (@the_illust)

Extraordinary artworks, Resa. The faces are all wonderful. The one with only one eye is more obscure but I can see it.
Robbie!
Yes, that face is evasive. I only saw the eye until I looked at the pics I took.
Faces are on the top of my street art faves. This house was one fun day for me! ❦❦🎨
This house is brilliant. I would love it too.
So, SO beautiful.
MAGIC
Yes, TOF, Magic.
As you know, art is soul. Make art not war! xx
Thank you for sharing this amazing, sensory experience. I feel like maybe there are more faces lurking in the background in the one with the eye (and I like the detail of the red bloodshot spot).
I had the best day visiting this house.
It was a sensory experience…. immersive.
I feel like that when I go to Graffiti Alley.
And… faces…I’m always looking for the faces.
Abstract can definitely be more than looking for meaning in lines, colours, shapes(less).
I’m going back to look at that face some more…and see the red bloodshot spot you mention.
Neat comment, thanks Merril!
I imagine it was a very cool place to visit!
I just went back and looked at it again. To me, it looks like the visible eye has blood in the corner. The person is wearing glasses, and the other eye is obscured by objects that to me look like an apocalyptic vision that the man is seeing. But I’m one of those people who sees faces and objects in everything and turns them into stories. 😂
Such a, colorful house, the walls became, an, unlimited, canvas for the, artist, this is, quite, creative.
I love it! It’s its own art gallery.
I’m so happy I got to see it!
Wow, that tiger is super cool, but the eye is very intriguing as well; it draws you in. What fantastic artwork! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome!
I agree with your art comment.
I am wildly smitten by street art. In this case applied to an old house.
It is marked for tear down.. if it’s not razed already.
wow, that’s terrible! In that case, super thanks for sharing — what an honor to be able to see it before it was demolished!
All street art is ephemeral. That’s one of the reasons I like it so much. Like life, it’s precious for a short time.
The painting of the face above the tiger is tremendous. How the faces blend with the swirling colors around them. It feels mystical and mysterious. 🙂
Love the face above the tiger.
I often think about painting the faces I draw, in this street art style.
It appears to be swirls, streaks… smears of colour, but there’s more to it.
Yes, mystical. One day I will figure it.
Thanks Dave! 🌟
Very cool room! The big cat and two women’s faces are fantastic, but I like the more abstract area as well. The hooded face near the eye is a matter of perspective. Very cool to do that – I’ve seen “fine art” paintings that look like nothing until you hit the exact perspective and then they come into focus. Not easy to do! Anyway, very cool!
Agree on all counts.
Hooded… cool description.I’ve been working on figuring that one.
The artist, Chris Perez has really come a long way with his use of floral, floral abstract feels and colour.
Yes, perspective is important in/to/of much art, including artistic film making. Although art films don’t make $.
Yes..cool!
I figure 2 more posts should finish covering the house.
The movie theater in my town used to play art film. That was ages ago. Later it started to go more main stream, which kind of sucked for me, but made the owner more money. After everything went 100% digital he now only does movies from his private collection and no current movies.
Anyway, off track, but… lol.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the Painted House picts!
really cool and so different
I love it!
Art to the rescue…
My favorite room so far in this house…funny when at one time, i could replace my kitchen by a phone…now I should paint the one that is house mainly for preparing a good coffee, nice painting…love it
LOL!
Good luck finding the coffee pot in this room, Jean Marc!
Yes, in some ways it is my fave room.
I will be sad when I finish showing everyone this house.
I would like the rooms to go on forever. xx
Wow!
Agree! It’s quite wonderful, Martha.
Be well!
There’s no ignoring this house! It’s as though some one gathered every color of paint in the world and turned it loose and it all fell into place. So unusual and delightful. I think the back door is my favorite , I would always enter through there. I’d love to meet this artist, he/she is totally uninhibited!
xoxoxoxoxo
Yes.. if paint colours were poems, there would be a thousand and one ,
Scheheraholly poems in this room!
I wish this house would last 1001 posts.
I adore the way many street artists (not just in this house) put all that splashed colour on the faces. One day I will do that with one of our portraits.
I think there is a method to that madness. It would have to be a musician that lends their self to that feeling for me.
Joni Mitchell, Kurt Cobain…John Lennon….. Frank Zappa ???
xoxoxoxoxoxo
Music is the magic… yes a bit of all that for different areas. Sigh, lovely stuff
xoxoxo
OH!
Of course you would love a dog door!
xoxoxoxox
Oh yes, a fancy rainbow colored doggie door. I buy a bandana to match. Eeeere!!!!
OMG!
Why do I think I could paint that for you?
Eeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!
That would be both adorable and hysterical 🐕❤️
Yes!
I decided to use that first attempt at drawing Janis, the one that didn’t work out so great to try doing some street art style painting on.
Why not?
I will learn something, and one day I’ll be able to do us a portrait in that technique!
xo🐕❤️xo
that would be great dnd probably great fun too. I would love that. ❤️
It was just an experiment, but I will send you a pic when I finish this comment.
I started taking pics of Ronnie.
So many lightings. So many options. Plus ..editing.
I’ll send 1 Ronnie with Janis.
Will be taking more pics this afternoon, and tomorrow… when there is a bit of cloud cover.
xoxoxoxoxo
running over 🏃🏼♀️
Eeeeeee!
xoxoxoxo
xoxoxoxo🐭🐭xoxoxoxo

Sent!!!
Magnificent dahling Meece! Joni must have a tribute , so deserves it. Ronnie is beyond words spectacular!
xoxoxoxo
Yay!
I’m all a tither over here with my Ronnie pics!
oxoxoxoxo
I know!!!!! Me tooo. I can’t believe how perfect it is.
XOXOXO
Every pic is different. The one I had to use for this, was a prom shot, and Ronnie’s face was lit beautifully. Natural light for(Janis) natural shadows.
Stage light = drama. This works well for the men.
I like a more flattering light for the women.
XOXOXO
This house has come to life through the passion of those who brought it to life. Not a square inch that wasn’t painted, all of it filled with life. Real ones. Another beautiful gallivant, Resa.
Not a square inch, Marc. Nary a drop of paint left in any spray can.
Yes… that’s what I do! I gallivant for art.
Now you’ve gone and made me feel like art gallivanting.
Maybe just a small gallivant tomorrow. Let me go check the weather!
MUAH!
Very cool.
You’re a first degree gallivanter!
I love that word. Gallivant. And it totally fits you, dear Resa.
MUAH!
The paintings are fantastic. I especially love the tiger’s face. The women’s faces are gorgeous, and the dog on the back door is so cool. The kitchen is a fantasy wonderland. What a wonderful place to get lost in. You don’t need a hooka to go trippin’ in the painted house.
Tim!
I knew you’d like the tiger’s face. I did think of you.
The faces.. the dog… what a trip.
Yes it is…a fantasy wonderland. I love it, and am thrilled to this day that I got to go see it.
No hooka needed. Although there could have been one in there somewhere, unrecognizable due to paint. xx
You know me all to well.
Very vivid, fun, and a bit trippy. The tiger face and womens’ faces are wonderful. It must have been very impactful to walk through this house.
Brad,
You are right on about it being impactful.
I’m still swooning. I love this kind of art. It makes me feel alive, happy….. inspired to create.
Thank you so much for your visit and comment!
I love your mural tours Resa!
Thanks Brad!
They are a fun and easy get away.
Wow! What a fabulous find, Sorceress. It makes me wonder if this was created all by one person or if more had their hand in it (I would think so). We have a space in Montreal where mural artists are invited to come in and paint a section, any section.
I love the face with the tiger but that one with the glasses makes us keep coming back to look.
Wonderful, as per! xoxoxo
Thunder!
Lots of artists had a hand in this. You’ve been busy, so may have missed the other posts.
This house is to be torn down.
The owners allowed artists to come and paint it, then the public (I think all but me were from the neighbourhood, someone tipped me off) was allowed to view inside for 2 weekends only.
If you want to see more, there is a triptych (blue and yellow) made of doors from the inside the house, On my sidebar.
It is second from the top. Click on it and all of the Painted House posts are in there.
That’s just “IF”. No big deal.
I had a wonderful day when I went there.
Whenever I find street art, I feel so good to be alive. I was through the roof in this house!
xoxoxoxo
Sorceress!
So true. I actually saw one of those posts (even if I still have a LOT of catching up to do). Love it.
Right. Of course.
xoxoxoxo
I will click to see what I missed.
a fine feline and a face with lovely labial lustre 💖

totally. 💯
This art is absolutely incredible, Resa! Great blog presentation by you!
Thank you!
I love all this art Dave.
What a great day it was going to see this painted house.
I feel so obsessed to just run out and find more.
Maybe tomorrow. I just took pies out of the oven.
An artistic abode!
That tiger is to die for. I also like the pointilst-like dog on the back door. Marvelous photos, Resa. 🐂
Thank you John!
All this art makes me feel alive.
Oddly, I found a few cartoons recently. I’m saving up again!
🐷X Yibbidy Yibbidy Yibbidy – that’s not all folks! 🐷X
😁X 🐷X
Such a cool place and you photographed it so beautifully.❤️
Totally!
I love it, and I could have walked in it for days.
Unfortunately Gi, it was only open to the public for 2 weekends, and there were so many people that it took me hours to get the shots I took. I just had to wait for clear moments.
NOW, I go bake 3 pies… apple, blueberry and strawberry. It’s pie time again!
xoxoxo
I’m not sure I’d really want to live in that house but it is quite a trip, isn’t it!
It is a real trip, for sure Jan.
It was a wonderful day out for me. It was like going to the Art Gallery, but more free.
So glad you got a peek at it!
The back door painting is my favorite.
You are a dog person?
Holly loves the door the best, too.
Yes, I’m a dog person. 🙂
This is all beautiful artwork. I am trying to imagine the immersive experience of walking through this. I can’t. It must have been amazing.
“a potpourri of colour” – what a FANTASTIC way to describe it – amazing! Linda 🙂
Thank you! It certainly was like being giant box of broken and melted crayons. 🌟
Another lovely metaphor – yay you!
Thanks!! lol
It is just fascinating, again and again! There are so many souls and so many feelings in those paintings. And that one with the cat and the woman above is feminine art, I bet! Thank you, Resa, my lovely friend, for making these beautiful works of art eternal.
🤙🙏💖🥰😘
I wonder if these images I take will float around the internet and som next iteration forever?
The art is filled with spirit.
❦🌹🌟✨xo
Resa, your tours of the Painted House have been a huge treat. Thanks so much for all your wonderful photos. What an amazing place. So much whimsical energy gathered in one place. You’d think is would cause some kind of vortex into a wondrous alternative space.
Try as I might, I can’t see a face to go with that single abstract eye (that seems to be looking through a hole in the wall)… but I’m blind as a bat. Hugs.
The Painted House is like a micro mini vaycay.
Being in the art was magic. Just being in an alley looking at the art is a thrill.
It is addictive, so I have to keep going for walks to find more art.
Yes, that eye… I think it’s wearing glasses. The nose is there and part of the other eye and the rest does fade into a more abstract face.
Teagan, thank you for checking out the house with me!
Two more posts, and I’ll have it all done. I might take a break and do my Halloween post, and I did find an Artemis I’m dying to share!
Hugs!
Even the stove and range hood! Amazing!
Everything! Thanks Becky!
What an amazing house, Resa! The colors are gorgeous, the faces with eyes full of emotion, and the tiger is my favorite! I’d love a tour! Thanks for sharing such an incredible display of talent! Hugs xoxoxo
The tiger is my fave, too! I think they’re endangered.
It was definitely being inside of art….as opposed to just looking at art.
I was in the stomach of the beast. LOL!
Hugs xoxoxo
Wow! Spectacular murals in the whole house. How did you even find such a thing? ❤ xxx
I had a tip off on this one.
Normally I just pick an area and walk around for a couple of hours, see what I can find.
x❦🌹❦o
Wow! You even have inside sources! LOL. You rock girl!!! 🙂 ❤ xox ❤
Inside sources…yes… I’m an art spy! 😂 ❦🌹🌟
Lolol 🙂 🙂 ❤

Hello Resa!!
WOW!! What a stunning kitchen, love that tiger and the gorgeous faces.
“…the stove, the range hood, the walls, the windows and nothing was left to paint, except the paint itself!’ … amazing!! The thing is, I’d be so distracted by the beautiful murals to be able to cook properly in this kitchen 😀
Ruth!
I know, the kitchen is insane fabulous.
Well, no one will be cooking in there any more. They are tearing the house down, and rebuilding.
Okay, gotta run. Will be by your blog as soon as I can get back to my computer!
xo ❦🌹
Oh no!! They’re tearing down the house? So ALL of these wonderful paintings would be torn down too? What a bummer if that’s the case, but good thing you documented them here on your blog!
All street art is ephemeral.
It gets tagged, painted over by a different artist, sun faded, wind, snow, rain, sleet, peeling wood and rotting brick or torn down.
I’m a tad obsessed with recording what I find, and I love finding it.
xxx
Ephemeral!! That’s the first time I read it being used, but I love it and it’s perfect!
Well, I’m glad you record these ephemeral street art so it lasts for a long time. For sure, neither rain nor wind can take ’em down (though who knows how long the internet will be around, mwahaha!)
Lololol…. mwahahaha!!!! (xo)
Wowza, Resa. I love those “slightly mottled” faces – the two women and the tiger. So beautiful! And the one with the eye is creepy (but kind of hard to look away). What amazing artwork. Thanks for sharing!
Lots fun in this old house.
I do love the tiger with woman’s face over it. Possibly my fave of this entire project.
(omg… currently working on the centre tail… the “Pièce de résistance” of the gown. )
Lol. I’ve been so busy, I haven’t even thought about it. It’s going to be a wonderful surprise.
I’m on a real exciting part!
Oh my god! This is so so great! This is like all my emotions painted out. And it’s kind of like you’re being watched (eye) but, oh, it’s so cool! 🫶❤️❤️
Agree! Thank you!
You are the best photographer and always capturing the colors of the graffiti artist that shine on the walls. Love this Resa. 🙂
Thank you Charlie!
I do love art on walls and the artists who put it there. ✨
You welcome, Resa. 🙂
You are super awesome my friend. Keep shining the light on the arts.
You’ve really improved.
Did you know there is another painted house in Canada that they actually preserved? It’s by Maude Lewis.
It’s neat… but mild in comparison to this beaut you share in every facet.
Yes! I have not been to it, but I did see the short documentary about her and it. “A World Without Shadows”.
It’s excellent!
There is also a movie “Maudie” which I have seen.
Thank you for mentioning this. Honestly, I had forgotten.
Thank you about this house that I am sharing.
Fabulous comment!
