Toucan Angel or Mathematician?

I think this is a Toucan?

Probably an angel Toucan. He/she does have a golden halo.

Does the bell in the 3-D triangle mean anything?

I’m of 3 minds.

#1– Absolutely nothing.

#2 – There is a “Bell Triangle”. You can read about it on –Wolfram MathWorld

Suddenly the 3-D writing on the left looks like numbers.

    1. Yes, a fab find Dave.

Although, it was on private property. One can see I’m taking pics, so mostly when people come out to talk to me it’s because they are proud of their art. There was a car there, so I figured someone was home.

I never step in gardens or on lawns. I don’t “break-in” if there’s a fence with a locked gate.

Of course if it’s an industrial space, I think differently. 😅

    1. Yes!

I agree John. It seems odd not to have a message. Then again, who knows what or why artists create what they do?

      🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂

(the Oxen had moved down the line. Back up in 6th place now)

  1. I think it’s a Toucan, too. As for the 3-D triangle and bell and well, let us just say you have given us something to talk about!

    Nicely done, Sorceress.

    1. It is intriguing.
I only noticed the toucan was gripping an arrow when you mentioned it. I knew it was golden, but?
      I don’t know.
      This is one cryptic mural.
      Thanks Jo!

  2. Ah, now I see where your comment was coming from! That triangle is a great optical illusion. I think there might be a fourth explanation, but I am not sure what – something trippy or sci-fi. There seems to be some hidden symbolism in the whole thing, but I don’t know what it could be. Like, the halo casts a shadow! Don’t normal halos glow? And I think the halo is a Mobius strip. And the twist arrow the toucan is on. Hmmm. It is like everything is pointing to another dimension and so the images in this one don’t really make sense.

    1. Yes, the triangle.
A fourth? Is this the Twilight Zone?
I didn’t think of halo and shadow.
Mobius Strip, but I don’t see a twist.
Now it looks like a wedding ring.
      Bell, ring?
I just realized from the previous comment that the bird is perched on an arrow.
      Okay!
Nothing like cryptic confusion to make me feel like sewing.
      Thank you, Trent!
      I love this comment.

      1. I am not sure about Mobius Strip, but when I follow a point around, the bottom becomes the top – it is odd because it is a ring, nto a flat piece of paper, but I think with the shading and such there is a sort of twist in there – I’d have to be standing there to see.
And, yes, I thin kit is the Twilight Zone – there is something really odd going on that makes it seem to not belong in normal space.
        It is a cool picture!

        1. Yeah, I followed the ring around, and think you’re right. Yes, it is hard to see. If/when I’m back in that area, I will look again.

I knew a guy named Mobius once. He wore a robe and read Tarot cards inside of a pyramid he built.

Yes, he read my cards. Then I read his. Then he fell for me. Then I vanished!

Seems I’ve always been flirting with “The Zone”.

It is cool. I’m glad I posted it. I held back, because I didn’t get it, but so what?

A beautiful and angelic Toucan. We too can be angels. The mural is well done with many interesting elements. Ringing the dinner bell. I believe dinner bells used to be more common.

  4. A wonderful, vibrant, summer-time murals that brings a smile, Resa! The toucan’s vibrant colors and large, colorful bill have been brilliantly created in this mural.

    1. It’s a crazy mural, Rebecca. I like it lots, but I keep wondering what it all means.
Of course – nothing – is one of my thoughts, just lovely to look at.

      1. I was thinking the same thing, Resa – what does it all mean? So I looked up the symbol for “toucans.” I am uncertain what the artist intended but this is what I found out: The bird toucan signifies communication, showiness, and resourcefulness in various cultures. Known for its vibrant colours and large, colourful bill, the toucan is often associated with communication due to its loud calls and distinctive vocalizations. In some cultures, the toucan symbolizes showiness and flamboyance, representing the idea of standing out and being noticed. The toucan’s unique bill is seen as a symbol of resourcefulness and adaptability, as it is used for reaching fruit that other birds cannot access.

  5. It’s magical. There is a theory about why all the bells in the world, except for a few, were taken away. Because bells were once souded at a vibration that allowed people to get in touch with the other side. Their spiritual side. The men running things didn’t like that, beceause people were happy so they removed all the bells. I absolutely love this amazing art work. It’s so beautiful and detailed. Perfect.

    1. A neat tale, Gi!

…. and so as the people tried to return the bells unto their lives, the men running things kept removing them.

I made the last part up, but that’s what I see.
It is a cool painting. xxoo

    1. Yeah!
      It is a beauty.
Lol, wait ’til you see the latest that I just mailed you. It’s a Shey GIF.

This will be the one I use in the post.
It should be up in about 10 days.
      xxxxxxxx

  6. This is an absolutely beautiful discovery, Resa. And like all great art, it allows for so many different interpretations.

As for the bell? It makes me wonder (wait for it . . .) for whom the bell tolls . . .

  7. Nice one..hum triangle and bell mysteries, maybe it is even stangier than those stories about the Bermuda Triangle, but I don’t think there is a connection or a corridor between both, maybe behind the garage door…:D but besides that, a very nice and colorful Toucan…:)

    1. Meece,
It’s a crazy piece, for sure. Pretty cool just to look at too.

I’m down to 2 drawings to finish polishing for presentation. I can hardly wait to make this post!

Hey! Is the hurricane going to affect you? You live in a beautiful, yet scary place.
      Take care dear Meece!
      oxoxoxoxo

      1. The storm blew in and out, it was a …. now it is further north but oh happy day, there are 2 more tropical waves coming off Africa. I’ve decided the problem is Africa.

I’m very excited about the post…I can’t wait!
        xoxoxoxoxoxox

        1. LOL! Poor Africa.
As long as you are safe!!! 💜

Me too! I need to get back to Art Gowns.

          So… Janis?
You sent 1 pic. Is that your fave?

I haven’t tried colour or more than just heads, but if you pick the shot, I will try.
I want this to be special for you, for us.
Worst case, if I can’t get it right, I can always go back to a pencil head shot.

Send me a choice of 3!
          xoxoxoxo

            1. I love the way Janis embraced colour, and texture. She looked like the Flower Power time she came from.
She was a fashionista fabuloso for sure.
She was raw emotion. I’m excited to see what you send!
              xoxoxoxo

  8. That Toucan looks hungover to me. Do you trust a hungover bird? Whomever painted this probably denies the Moon landings. They did happen. I was there (in spirit).

  9. Resa, what a find! It’s beautiful and unique and so detailed! Definitely a toucan, but as for everything else – and I think this artist had a meaning or purpose for every little detail. I could spend hours studying it… maybe days. The ring looks shaded to me… but maybe it really is a Möbius strip. That at least gives symbolism to it, and to me there’s a powerful vibe of symbolism. The mobius can be a symbol of unity and working together – but it can also negatively mean being trapped. However, the triangle definitely has some kind of mobius-bend going on.
    .
Toucan symbolizes sharing wisdom and engaging in public speaking, so maybe the overall combination is a call for unity. It would be great to sit down and talk about it with the artist.
Escher did a good bit of art with Möbius designs. I wonder if it has anything to do with him?
What looked like numbers to you – just below the left corner of the triangle. I think it’s part of a contraption of some kind. Look closely at that teal ball. It’s lined up to fall through that hole below it, and roll down to one of the other T-shape things (gears maybe). There’s also a ball at the center tip of the triangle that would fall through the hole in the bell.
I apologize for making a “post” with a comment. It’s just that you founding something that really captured me. Big hugs.

    1. Ah, so you see the Mobius bend.
      I think I see it.
Trent pointed it out to me.
This is a great painting to ask the artist about.
It’s cryptic, and that is on the rare side for street art.
The numbers as a contraption…interesting. I see that. I saw the ball over the bell, but it didn’t ring as anything to me.
You know, it seems like not 1 brush stroke was wasted on this painting.

Dare I say the mural is somewhat Steampunk?

Love your comment, Teagan. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!
      HUGS!

  10. Has something to do with ancient wisdom maybe, coz the triangle and those numbers feeling esoteric to me lol might mean something! And the Toucan maybe a symbolism of a wise bird, just like how the Eagle is used by the Egyptians..

  11. I’m not sure sure what is going on in that busy picture, but I do think that’s a toucan – perhaps even an angel toucan. Lol. Hugs ❤ xox ❤

    1. Nah.. even if it does mean something, it doesn’t have to, to the eyes upon it.
      That was possibility #1.
Still, it’s been a great art chat going on over here. I love it! 💙💙

  12. Cool artwork, and the toucan is beautiful. I don’t know about the art’s meaning. But the composition is well balanced. The toucan, bell, and numbers make a triangle that reflects the actual triangle. The bell has a ball above it, like the toucan has a halo above it. Also the ball makes an appearance in the numbers. Neat! 🌞

  14. It is definitely intriguing and mysterious, Resa. I suppose only the artist knows what it means. It’s sort of cosmic with the toucan perched on an arrow. It looks to me like a ball goes through the Rube Goldberg contraption and pops out to ring the bell. In a weird coincidence, last night in our re-watching of Fringe, we got to an episode where the ringing of a bell sent someone’s “soul” into another body.

    1. It’s a good work of wall art, for sure. Got me thinking!

Ahh, interesting, about the soul bell.
      I haven’t seen “Fringe”

Goodness knows I’ve been ODing on Tv shows and movies. Voting starts in 1 week.

      “The New Look” – wow!

      A fab accident – I wouldn’t have watched it because it’s on Apple, and I don’t subscribe.
(I get everything free during Emmy season, though)

End of WWII – Paris. Based on actual events.
OMG – Chanel had a Nazi lover. Dior worked for a Fashion House that stayed alive making gowns for the wives and gf’s of the Nazis.

This is a show that educates, while it entertains.

      1. It is all interesting.

I have Apple, but I haven’t watched the show. It got kind of mixed reviews. Chanel was definitely not a good person. There has been a lot of work about her Nazi connections. That said, I wouldn’t use drama for education, except for as a starting off point to read further if interested.

        1. Interesting about the reviews.
I wonder what the issues are, because I think it’s quite good. I’ll check.

I had no idea about Chanel. I studied Fashion History at college. No mention of it. She is iconized in that world. How selective!

Maybe people don’t want to hear about WWII anymore.
You have a point about the educational part, but it could make someone want to learn more.
The youngest (20’s – 30) in my family know almost nothing about WWII.

          1. As I said, I haven’t seen the show. There are many people who are brilliantly creative, but still horrible people. 🙂
WWII era books, movies, and shows still seem pretty popular.
That is very sad that they know so little. I suspect it’s true of many here, as well. Though in New Jersey, there is Holocaust education, ever since my kids were young, so most should know something about it.

            1. Holocaust was not taught in schools in Canada. I learned from parents and grandparents.
              However, things are changing:

“British Columbia and Ontario have previously announced Holocaust education will be mandatory for Grade 10 students starting in fall 2025, while Alberta and Saskatchewan announced in the fall that studying the Holocaust will be a compulsory part of new social studies curriculums.”

  15. Hi Resa. Have you heard about 91 Barton St. near Bloor and Kristi where a whole bunch of artists have painted the entire house that will soon be demolished? I thought of you when I went there today. They’re
@artonbarton and are open tomorrow & next Friday to Sunday. Cheers, lily from artsofmay. Btw, Great toucan.

    1. No worries! I fall behind, miss posts, miss comments.
I honestly don’t know how people keep up.
I do my best. That’s what I can do.

It’s a cool mural, whatever it means!
      Have a GREAT week Robbie!
