KISMET

a hypothetical force or personified power that determines the course of the future events : fate, destiny.

Kizmet 32 is the artist who painted this box.

Although it was kismet that I bumped into this art,

… on a sunny day along Lake Ontario.

That meant shadows, but I think they work here. They are barely noticeable on the east side of the box.

None at all on the north side. The lake is in the background.

Can’t see any on the west side. Ha! Suddenly I see KIZ.

I’m luvin’ the shadow on the south side.

I had to get in on it.

  3. The old artist sun above its shadow offspring makes double sure that everything is theirs for others to see. They make it obvious to the eye or, sometimes, the quizzical mind. I rather like shadows; they are the bizarre artists from above that never speak. Brilliant. Regards, TOF

    1. It’s a fab work of art. It’s quite modern, another form of abstract. It also includes a very today theme…. our minds and the machine.
      The box is probably to access electricity that is used to light the boardwalk at night and supply energy to the Granite Club.

      Thank you, and yes, it’s a wonderful piece of art. I spotted it from above, on the escarpment as I passed by on a streetcar.
      I found 1 other box with a butterfly, about 1/2 mile east. Although I’m sure there are boxes all along the lakeshore.
      After a mile I headed north, to no art.

    1. Yay! It is a vibrant piece, and seems to have a message about the future.
      Love the colours! I spotted it on the lakeshore from up on the escarpment. The colours lured me in like a siren’s song!

    1. Agree, it says a lot.
      A for spells, I was up on an escarpment when I saw it along the lakeshore…the size of my thumbnail.
      I went there the next day. I had to!

Hi Resa, need I say another stunning piece of art, but I think the box might house electrical hardware, as in the UK we have electrical supply “Sub Stations” that are about the same size as this outbuilding….however ours aren’t decorated on the whole sadly (you may see one or two in bigger cities painted). Anyway you do have some sort of “Force” that draws you to precious art so thanks for sharing again.

    1. I thinks it’s electrical, too.
      The boxes are ugly and make our cities uglier. A bit of paint in the hands of an artist goes a long way to making a more pleasant, interesting environment.
      Yes… “a force” is with me, when it comes to street art.

      I believe people are interpreting this work of art correctly.
      The artist not only uses bold colours, but is bold with his statement.

  21. I think the shadows add to the artwork. The artist must have noticed them and it makes me wonder if Kiz enjoyed them too, and used them in some way. While walking around in Vancouver and Victoria I noticed a lot of painted boxes. They were everywhere (like surprises). It seems like it’s a Toronto thing as well. 🙂 Love it.

      When I see all the painted wires in the art, the leafless shadows of branches do fit in.
      He may have taken from that.
      Lotsa painted boxes here! I luv it, to! Sure is nice to live i a painted city.

      Yes, I can see why you’d say that , in all various contexts of the 3 meanings.

      Borgias from Italy … duplicitous, dangerous, manipulative use of politics to gain and keep an upper hand over society.. seems parallel to modern politics.

      Borg – acronym for “black out rage gallon.” A gallon container drink of water and alcohol (approx 17 shots of vodka 😵‍💫) by students who want a safer drinking experience. Understandable why people would want to black out and not deal with current events.

      Borg – an alien life form from “Star Trek”. The Borg have a gestalt group mind & is perverted to become the collective. This way the leader can add all of the Borg’s strength, technology, and life-force to her (in today’s case … HIS) own.

  28. These jaunts of yours are full of treasures not so hidden, and that’s a good thing for everyone who gets to partake of the works of art. This one is giving me an “AI with a soul” kinda vibe, as if pushing back at dystopian endings in favor of the heart and soul of humankind.

      Art speaks. Sometimes it doesn’t say much. Sometimes it screams.
      As yourself, many are getting a lot of meaning from this one. I think the artist is getting his message across, and you are interpreting it perfectly.
