Dems & Doll – Everything Art

I’m such a Street Artist groupie! I was thrilled to meet Dems & Doll, while they were painting.

Honestly, we chatted for awhile, exchanged names, I watched them paint for a bit  and now can’t remember their real names.

Anyway, Dems painted this fab face. I went back a couple days later to shoot the finished works.

Here’s Doll painting!

She gave me a wonderful reflective not sticker, with one of her faces. It’s taped on my purse now.

I took some pics of the art piece Doll gave me. It’s actually more monochrome, but I took it at night w/street lights/ overhead light &/or flash. I love it!

If I don’t put people’s names in notes in my phone, I forget them. Wonderful artwork, and so cool you got to meet the artists and have a chinwag with them.

    1. I am so bad with names. It takes a while for them to sink in. Of course I know your name now, Jimothy….. (kidding! 😉)

I found an amazing piece yesterday, on my way home from the shot. (just answered your most interesting mail)
I have a nice stash building up for the winter.
      Adore you! xx

I’m terrible with names. And I often pronounce them wrong. I pronounce Resa with a Spanish e. I noticed Rebecca pronounced Resa, “Reesa” with an English e.

    1. Meece,
It was a great time. I love meeting the artists. These guys are from Ottawa, and not in Toronto much.
Of course Boogapony knows them all, and all the art.
I’ve got some amazing pieces in my stash for the winter.
Okay, luv ya, and time to get back to my AGM Holly in “Spring Rhapsody” drawing.
You know, one day I love it, the next day…not sure.
Still, it’s special, and you will get to see it soon enough!
      xoxoxo

      1. I’m really excited to see Spring Rhapsody, that’s a gorgeous name for it. It’s awesome to meet the artists! A serendipity! Right time and place. ❤️🐭🐭❤️

  2. How absolutely exciting to meet up with Dems & Doll. I am beyond thrilled that you are a Street Artist Groupie. You bring us amazing art and I feel I’m with you on your walk. What a face – so many layers to portrait.

    1. You know Rebecca, street art is intoxicating to me (and it’s not the paint fumes).
Dems and Doll were so nice, very sociable and welcoming.
Every walk is an adventure, and I’m so happy you like to travel with me.
Okay, I’m going to draw now. Art Gowns art awaits me!

    1. Thank you, dear John!
It was a fab day! Going back to shoot it was fun, too. I found some other nice pieces around there. 🐂🐂🐂🐂

              Very arty, John.
There’s a message in this art.

  3. This is a great one, must be so nice and fun for you to meet them, maybe one day there will be a mural about you and your dedication to show and let know them, good one!

    1. Thanks JMR! I love that! If there was a mural for me, I would like cats in it.
Speaking of, how is your kitty? You always have such beautiful cats. xx

      1. Maya, my third one, hope this is the one, not been lucky with the 2 others, is fine, very affectious, vocal….and demanding, I guess she think she’s a Maya princess…:D but she gives lot in return, I think she’s jealous of me painting….and a few others things, she want all the attention 😀 How’s yours ? Jim ? not quite sure, he’s still with you ?

        1. JMR!

If you see the Spam comment….ignore it.
My comments on your blog have appeared.

It took awhile for them to appear, so I was worried. I have gone into some SPAMs recently.
Anyway, my cat Jeep is fine.
However, I had to put my Johnny to sleep a week ago.
It was difficult, because he looked fine.
He had a brain tumour and was having painful seizures. It was horrible.
          Thank you! xx

          1. Oh sorry, I know how difficult it is, I had to do the same with my 2 previous cats, we don’t want to go through this too often. I will check about messages, but I think everything is fine.

    1. Thanks Roberta!
      It was a wonderful day.

I’m getting back in the swing of things.
I’m going through “Dressed For The Photographer” by Joan Severa. It weighs at least 3 pounds….maybe up to 4.
It’s not just a collection of some of the best photography of ordinary people in their clothes from 1840 – 1900, the documentation and notes on details of sewing and fabric is outstanding.
I used this book when I designed the costumes for a movie that went from the late 1830’s to the 1890’s.
I know Estelle is in a different place, but there are parallels and a lot of things similar because of connections to Europe, such as: what fabrics were available in only a few prints (gingham, calico, stripes), paper patterns came out in 1870, hand me down remade clothes, prints, sewing techniques of the time(all by hand) , underpinnings, wrappers, aprons, bonnets and lots and lots more.
      The book is a gem.

Anyway, I did a couple of rough sketches last night, to get me going.
I am enjoying this historical review of clothing.

      1. Hi Resa, the book you have sounds wonderful. Getting good details about clothing is difficult for some historical periods and this really does sound like a gem. I’ll see if Amazon can track a copy down. Sometimes they can. I’ve found a few out of print books in excellent condition that way. I am glad you are enjoying this challenge. I am currently drawing a squirrel. She is telling a tortoise off and has folded arms. It is great fun.

        1. The book is out there, but it is around $100.00 US. Also shipping is crazy because it is so heavy.
Your drawing sounds adorable. You are a talented artist, from what I’ve seen. 🎃🎃

    1. TOF….Hmm, maybe because we have the freedom to paint on the walls in Graffiti Alley. No one needs permission. Just pain if you want!

      1. I looked it again. I think the freedom feeling is the part of the artists play…you’d never see permission for such wonderful art in the UK. Well done the artists.

        1. Thanks TOF!
Since I discovered it, I’ve always been comforted by street art.
          It does represent a freedom.
          Let’s paint all our walls!

    1. Cool, yes! I was on a street car passing by. I had to make my appointment, but several hours later, I returned and was rewarded.
      MUAH!

    1. That’s a beauty of art. Each person can find something up their alley, to their taste.
Of course some people don’t like music or art of any kind.
      Shocking, but true!
I intend to have a great weekend. Much time will be spent in yet another attempt to catch up blogging!
(and emails) Just saw your mail. Love it!
You have a great weekend, too!

  4. Not only did you take outstanding pictures of these beautiful art, you got to geek out and meet the artists! Wonderful! Thank you for sharing, Sorceress! xoxo

    1. Yes….Geek out! That’s me, uber geek out artist groupie!
Well Thunder, it could be worse.
      Actually… it couldn’t be better!
What a great day it was. xoxoxo

    1. I feel so lucky to have met them. It was a special treat.
Crazy how a simple thing like meeting 2 artists while painting is like a birthday when I was a kid, or a special day – like a wedding or graduation.
      The spirit is talking!
That Doll sticker is a blast. I love having it on my purse.
Again, something so simple….a sticker …. is bringing me joy.
Thank you my dear artist friend, a sicker of a friend!
      xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

      1. Oh, I can wholeheartedly understand!
As for the simple things such as a sticker… it’s those little things that bring magic to our lives!
        xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

    1. Agree!
Soon the art will be rained upon, snowed upon, wind will ravage it, sun will fade it and taggers will deface it.
By its very nature it is ethereal. That’s why much of street art feels that way.
A large mural, art commissioned by a business or corporation, or a city sponsored work that will be kept up over the years is different.
I love it all. Glad you got to see this, Jan!

    1. It was a blast to hang a bit with them. I would have stayed longer, but someone I know (who I hadn’t seen in quite awhile) saw me, and took me away for coffee.
      Love their art!

  5. How cool that you got to meet the artists, Resa! I think I mentioned in a prior post something to the effect that these murals suddenly appear and the artists are never anywhere to be seen. So, I can imagine how special this was for you. And the artwork is fantastic! ❤️🤗🌷

    1. Yes, you did mention that about the artists, and I totally thought of you when this happened!
Dems and Doll were super warm. I’ve had the priveledge of meeting and watching other artists. It’s always a joy.
      I’m so lucky! 💖🎨💖
