Welcome blogivision viewers to GLAM’s 1500th post! It’s a G0-Go Gala & I’m MC Boogapony Holly.!

Tonight’s theme is GLAM’s tagline, “Luxuriating in the Arts”. You will be treated to poetry, music, dancing, painting, comedy, graffiti and lots of cool fashion, as I work my way through costume changes.

My fab outfit above is inspired by the poem below, which in turn was inspired by a different outfit. That said outfit was inspired by a fusion of 2 groovy personalities. One was real, and the other imagined. Try and guess the answer to this riddle! Outfit, more clues & answer are at the end!

Okay! Time to liven things up! Time to“Pony On Down” Graffiti Alley to the vintage harmonies of “The Beach Boys”!

That was exhilarating and exhausting. Good thing I have this stunning Graffiti Lux art wall that looks like stained glass to lean on. Which brings us to the art part of our show.

Below is a mural, rendered in a realism style, of Charlie Chaplin and a vaudeville company in 1914. Charlie stayed at the now decrepit hotel it is painted on. Learn more about this mural on a podcast featuring moi, on Tea Toast and Trivia!

However, art has been created in many styles over time. Right now I’m thinking of the successful artist of the 60’s, Andy Warhol. He began the Pop Art movement. Crazy what he did with soup cans.

Not to be forgotten is Op Art. However, to be totally original, I’m starting the Oops Art Movement, as imagined above!

 Now, for the first time on any stage anywhere, to present GLAM’s commemorative gift to all of you, is my kid sister. Take it away Boogalu LuLu!

So, umm, like before I tell you what the gift is, I got this song to play for you. Don’t let the treacle voice of 26 year old Bella Poarch fool you! The  message is killer.

Okay, so like, you’re all getting a free Boogapony Holly Paper Doll download. Don’t worry, the paper doll won’t kill you! Although you might get a paper cut, so there is that.

Before the curtain closes on GLAM’s Go-Go Gala, I’m going to Go-Go my way through some surrealistic art to the sounds of  Corey Hart singing.

  3. Big congrats on reaching 1500 posts! I am approaching 700 and thought that was an achievement but you Luxuriating Ladies have shown me I’m still a beginner with a long way to go yet.

      It’s crazy, but I started the drawings when I was 70 posts away. Lol, in the almost year since, I draw way better, and did not use any of those drawings.

  9. Hi Resa, you have really outdone yourself with this amazing artwork and gala post. Holly’s poem is beautiful and inspiring. I adored paper dolls as a girl and my grandmother taught me how to make them and also the clothes. She was a painter and I have some of her work.

      Speaking of wonderful, I’m loving your book.
      I had a tech failure last week, one of my cats is sick and we had a massive clothing moth attack. This all slowed me down.

          It’s great!
          I love the way it is set up in people and dates, like a diary, but not.
          I have a few sad days coming up, as my baby Johnny cat has brain cancer.
          Wednesday might be the day.
          SO, whatever I do reading, posting, sewing, drawing will be dictated by his needs for his mommy, me.

Herewith, you’ve given us, as ever, an abundance of art’s own magic. within that you have the remarkable visual artist, Andy Warhol, and after that you have questioned, ‘If a multitude of graffiti tags are all piled upon each other in 1 spot, does that create a work of art in its own right?’ and to me the answer is ‘yes’. Again, it’s visual art but this time presented in a mixed media form, the like of which Pablo Picasso with his various material artwork often produced. One must add to that the unique art that is yours. A wonderful ‘blog’…it deserves a better name than ‘blog’. Regards, TOF

      I’m just having fun, and in the course of it all have made pals and can draw better.
      Pretty great, I say.
      I agree with you, yes, the schmeleke of tags all mashed together is art.
      I am constantly fascinated by street art.

      My unique art…thank you! Although I love drawing girls in gowns and cool outfits, Ihave branched out a bit. Seems I have a knack for monsters & b&w pencils drawings with lots of shadow.

      You have so much to do with my joy, and continued passion for drawing.
      It all began with a bunch of gagging in comments. I said we could get a ghetto blaster and go-go in front of art in Graffiti Alley. You said we should get a VW van from the 60’s, and go on the road.
      At that moment, Boogapony was born.
      So, I had a real hard time drawing the legs in the first Boogapony drawing…I still think one looks broken.
      Then, in the first 2 Boogapony drawings as Suzanne, one came out squat, but you never complained. LOL!!
      The 3rd Suzanne came out nice.
      Getting close to a 4th try, when we do another tribute to LC!

      Okay, 2000 is only 500 away!

      1. Le’ sniff dear Meece! We are rocking Meece 🎶. It’s been amazing to watch you excel from a tiny little bit of a broken leg ( no one noticed) to a gifted artist whose talents as a fashion designer spilled over into the most beautiful artwork, poetry, photography, and every art.
        Besides being absolutely gorgeous you have a brilliant mind and a killer sense of humor no one can possibly resist. You’re the complete beautiful package. I can’t wait to revisit LC and “ tea and oranges that come all the way from China”.

          Hmmm, I’ve got the early murmurings of an LC tribute gurgling around in the back of my mind now.
          Step 1…I need to try drawing him. No rush…just when the mood strikes. Step 1 for step 1…find an old b&w pic of him … something with shadows.
          Funny, but all those beautiful things you say about me, is how I feel about you. Your poetry encompasses all that.
          From the first verse, I was captive.

      Thank you! You have been amazingly supportive since my first drawings.(crooked legs, squatness, experimental). I’m quite pleased with how they have gotten better over time.
      I look at some of the older ones, and think……. lots to think about.
      All the paper and pencils you sent during lockdowns sure kept me going.

        I cut out the paper doll and her clothes and they all fit together perfectly. I’m going to photograph Boogaponey Holly in her different outfits. She’s going to bump the balloons tonight. 1500 posts is a once in a lifetime celebration and I can’t let an ingenious paper doll fitting go to waste.

      1. Love the post he did with them! It’s going to take quite awhile, but now I want to make PBH, RR &the AGMs Paper Dolls.
        This means you’ll end up as a Paper Doll.

            First, what does the RB doll wear under her palazzo pants outfits ?
            Got to be from the 30’s!!!

            1. I did a bit of reseach and this is what I found: Women in the 1930s typically wore a variety of undergarments under palazzo pants. One popular choice was a high-waisted, full-coverage underpant made of cotton or rayon. These underpants provided support and modesty while also ensuring comfort and breathability. Another option was a girdle, (YIKES) which was a more structured undergarment that helped to shape and smooth the waist and hips. Overall, the undergarments worn under palazzo pants in the 1930s were designed to enhance the silhouette while maintaining comfort and practicality.

                I looked at some of that. I also looked at bathing suits of the era. That would work, too. I might do bathing suits on all the dolls… all different eras.
                That sounds fun!

The paper dolls took me to my childhood when I loved playing with them.       Yes, the Paper Dolls are for everyone to download. I loved playing with Paper Dolls, too.
      I found some online – sort of paper dolls. You just dragged the outfit out of the closet and it goes on the doll. It lacks the joy of cutting everything out.

      Plus you can’t make your own outfits. I used to make my own outfits for my Paper Dolls. Okay… they were coloured with crayons, but I thought they were quite sharp.
      Tim has already printed & cut them out, and is going to photograph them!

      Holly and I do have a lot of fun together.

  25. Wow!!! This is fabulous. I love it and the knife under the sheets…great song. Holly looks amazing and yes, graffiti piled one on the other is definitely art.       1. I signed up for two courses without realising the exam clashed with the second course so its been a bit of pressure, luckily I’m used to pressure 🙃 because I’m always saying yes without thinking if I’ve got the time 😆.
