Scheheraholly II

Scheheraholly is inspired from a poem  written by Holly – House of Heart

It was like “A Thousand and One Arabian Nights”, and Holly was like a Scheherazade.

The day she posted the poem, I had found a piece of alley art that played into the whole idea, especially the second last line.

I named it Sheheraholly. Now, I have found Scheheraholly II

Behind a van on an urban desert sand,

no one can see her eyes through her art.

The amazing violin solo is 2.5 minutes

  1. Beautiful Dear Resa. The violin solo still hasn’t loaded, but I’ll come back later. You and Holly are so damn talented. You make a wonderful pair. Thanks for this. 🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂

    1. Aww, thank you dear John!
Holly and I do have a lot of fun. Everything we’ve done together is a charm on my bracelet. The first ones were Carmine and then Boogapony, who has a big post coming up in a couple of months.
I just need to finish the new Art Gown & a series of drawings for another project.
      💖🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂💖

                    1. Sounds like you miss her!

So John says he’s going to round up the cows, and put them in the barn or corral or something.
However, the oxen shall remain free.

                      It’s kinda goofy, but 🐂 = ox.
                      ox = a hug and a kiss.
We made a riddle – Q – When is an OX not an OX?
                      A – When it’s a hug and a kiss.

You are the only one(cause you’re special) we have let in on this!
I’m sure the steady flow of OXen in our comments is odd to anyone who notices. 😂
                      xoxoxo

                    2. Yes, John and I are sly.
Here everyone thinks we’re lunatics with oxen, but it’s really a code for hugs and kisses. 🐂

                    3. Lol!
A farm would be good, but I still cant get over the poo foot! 💩🦶
So, I think I should hang in the alleys until this icky rural pie situation is resolved.
                      😂

    2. The solo finally loaded. This was one of my favorite record albums. By the way, I can’t comment on your comments regarding the cows since we’ve passed the number that can be done. So here is the last word. I will round up the cows much like Holly’s ex MIL. I’ll wrestle each and then bundle them and give them back to Holly since she created them. The OXen shall remain free. 🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂

      1. Well, I hope so!
Holly says we have a cow herding problem.
I’ll make sure she knows, and fill her in on the OXen.
She’s so much fun in comments! That’s how we come up with all of our kooky ideas.
OX OX OX (1 strayed into the earlier part of the comment)

    1. Agree! They are both amazing, and belong together.
Holly writes the best poetry and prose. She’s in a league of her own.
      ❤️❤️❤️

    1. Thanks, Tim!
It’s getting too hot to go for art walks. I’m going to try for one tomorrow. It will be raining lightly, which I find cooling. The upcoming days will be cookers.
It must be awful hot where you are?
      Take care! xx

It’s 93ºF (33.9ºC) right now. Not too bad. A friend in Las Vegas, NV just called and it’s 111ºF (43.9ºC) where he is. The forecast for the 4th is 101ºF (38.3ºC).

        1. Sheesh!
I see many 4th of July fireworks cancelled due to heat and drought.
Many were cancelled for Canada Day.
I never heard of that before.
          Sigh!

            1. Yeah.. Then what?
I guess we’re okay until everything grows back?
The boreal forests are burning here. Apparently it’s not as bad as the last big burn 150 years ago. I find that interesting.

              1. Timothy Price's avatar Timothy Price

Fire is natural, but the problem we have down here is the government neglects and mismanages the forests. They don’t let people remove underbrush, so what would be normal fires that some trees need to reproduce, turn into super hot infernos from the underbrush that has grown up over the years, and everything is incinerated, making many of the burned forests start from zero on regrowth.

                  1. Timothy Price's avatar Timothy Price

Nothing. But the Forest Serice has a problem with it. The don’t want people disturbing wilderness areas, but I l think it’s really more about control and stupidity.

                    1. Timothy Price's avatar Timothy Price

The Forest Service was trying to do a controlled burn in 2001. It got out of control rather quickly with all the underbrush. They ended up burning own a bunch of new expensive houses and old historic houses from the Manhattan Project on the western side of Los Alamos.

                    2. That was a funny bone special, Tim! 😂
I’m wiped out today. It started last night.
Yesterday was only 90f with cloud cover, so I went for a walk. It’s 100f today with a heat warning… and worse for the upcoming week.

                    3. Exhausting!
First less hot day we get, I’m going to make a break for Cabbage Town. Should be some good street art there.

                    4. Dear Tim,
So sorry for the delay in answering. I was logged out here, and over on Art Gowns making a post. I put it on a timer for tomorrow.

Cabbage Town is about 10 miles from me. I have walked there before.
If I was to hop on the street car on Queen St. where I live, it would be about an hour & 20 mins. I would be at the far east of Cabbage Town, which is actually Cork Town. 🙄
Walk a few blocks west, and Cabbage Town begins.
The weather sucks here. It’s either raining, or a steam bath.
I’m going, anyway!! Tuesday, or Wednesday. I’ll take the College street car to the centre of Cabbage Town, then do a half a walk. xo
                      (Unless there’s a heat warning!)

                    5. That was a funny bone special, Tim! 😂
I’m wiped out today. It started last night.
Yesterday was only 90f with cloud cover, so I went for a walk. It’s 100f today with a heat warning, and a blazing sun… and worse for the upcoming week.
So, yesterday was my only chance to get out there, and walk.
Guess I’ve got a touch of heat exhaustion last night, but worse today.
It’s going to be a long hot summer! xo

We have been cooler than normal here. It’s supposed to be 101º F today, it’s 95 right now. I don’t think it’s going to break 100.

    1. Thank you, Thunder!
It’s cool the way Holly’s poem works with the art.
I love the music too. Scheherazade was one of the only symphonies I knew until a few years ago. xoxo

    1. Thank you dahling Marina!
Agree, Holly’s poem and the art go together well!
      You amaze me! xoxoxoxoooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  2. Hello Resa, yet another gem you have found. And as ever the eternal battle with vehicles and street furniture to get these pics (who parks a van in front of such artistry is beyond me)! Great work as always.

    1. Thanks Tyeth!
Lol, at least if they park in front of art, they could have a clean and shiny black car. Then I could get some great reflections!

  3. Great finds, and great poem by Holly 🙂
When I was in my early to mid-20s I decided to see an orchestra, just because. I had no idea what I was doing, but ended up seeing Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. Great concert!

    1. Trent,
I trust you had a fab Fourth of July.
I watched the fireworks in Washington and New York on TV last night. They were spectacular!!!
      Holly writes the best poetry.
Scheherazade is one of the only symphonies I know from my youth. Our school took us.
I was not exposed to classic music (ballet, opera etc). That was for rich people. (My family had odd ideas)
I did however, know every polka tune ever written. 🙄🙃
Forget piano lessons!!!!! Accordion? Now you’re Talking!
Be safe in the heat wave!

      1. When I was growing up my family listened to everything. My mom (who grew up in a log cabin!) often listened to classical while my dad (who was actual from the north, as opposed to my mom from the south), often listened to “hil; bi;;y” music, so I still remember every lyric from “Old Betsy Goes Boing Boing Boing”, though I may not have heard it since I was 10… (I cheated, I just now looked it up, and it is on Youtube!!)
Hope you are having a great week!

        1. Interesting.
My mom grew up in a log cabin, too!
I don’t know the song you’re talking about (I’ll check it out!)
Sure know a lot of other rare music treats!
My week was good, and now the weekend is going well. Thank you, and have a fab weekend!

          1. Funny about the log cabins! Don’t worry if you don’t look up that song – it is the worst of what country used to be before it went commercial.

              1. I very recently put up a post on a new song, Alarm, which was purposefully slightly annoying. I said “Sparks influence”, but now you know why I sometimes write annoying music 😅

                1. I’ll be by with my other self (lol) a bit later. I’ll be heading back to Art Gowns, shortly.
I came here to make sure I didn’t get too far behind, which is what usually happens. 🙄🙃

                  1. Didn’t mean to push 🙂 I put a ton of stuff up on YouTube, it’s just that one was purposefully annoying, but in a very different way than “Old Betsy” 😉 And the point of that song was that there was very little music that I wasn’t exposed to as a kid…

                    1. Ah.. I caught one on Youtube recently. I’ll make sure to have a more purposeful look next time!
You were lucky to be so exposed.

                    2. To try to keep up with the YT algorithms I put out new videos once every week or two! So the one I was talking about, Alarm, was a week ago – already old news 😅

  4. Dearest Resa, I’m so honored and delighted that you wrapped my poem around this beautiful wall art and your words that always go straight to the heart. Love you to pieces Meece, you are awesome 🥰❤️

    1. Dear Holly,
It’s one of those inspirations, and we’ve had many.
I suppose in our case art + art = love you to pieces, Meeces!
I do think “Scheheraholly” makes total sense.
      🐭🥰❤️🐭

    1. Agree! Love the Scheherazade violin solos.
I just loved making this post. It feels creatively satisfying! 🐭🐭xoxoxo
(I would have been here earlier, but N & I had an at home dinner and movie date!)

        1. We had so much fun last night, we’re going to do it again tonight. It is a long weekend, after all!
Happy Fourth of July! I hope you have a delicious time! XX🎆🎇💥💫🌟OO

            1. We just finished “China Town”. I never saw it before.
I made us a picnic on the bed.
              Now I go draw!
              xx✍️🎨oo

        2. LOL!!
On top of everything, as soon as I finish drawing the SC pics, I’ll be starting Boogapony! 25 more posts to the 1500 post Gala! xoxoxo

            1. Yeah!!!
Remember what a fat laugh we had when I said only 75 posts to go until the Gala?
That was a fast 50 posts!!!
              xoxoxo

    1. That is so true, Eunice. I moved here to go to college then.
Some changes have made it better, some not.
I suppose that is the same everywhere. Be well!

  5. I believe this is a true masterpiece! The combination of stunning visuals and Holly’s poetic lyrics, and a beautiful melody is flawless. It seems as though only a deity could create something so perfect. 🤗💖🤙
Thank you, Resa. You are an excellent photographer, and I love Scheherazade by Korsakov.

    1. Gee, thank you Alaedin!
It all just seems so easy, flowing where creativity is involved. Even when it’s difficult, it’s satisfying.
Makes me want to live a long time! 🤗💖🤙xx

  6. A feast for the senses–words, art, and music!
Thank you for the reminder of the Rimsky-Korsakov piece. I remember discussing it with someone on a blog once–maybe you. It was one of the records I used to play a lot at maybe middle school age.

    1. Thanks Merril!
It was a fun post to make. Holly’s poetry is in a league of its own. Inspiring!
Then again so is yours. You are the 2 best I’ve read since poetry stared going through a renaissance in blog world.

We could have discussed the music piece. It’s one of the only ones I know.

  7. What a beautiful combination of poetry, art, and inspiration. I love it when one blogger inspires another… who inspires another and another. Gorgeous post, Resa.

    1. Thank you, Diana! It was a lot of fun making this post.
      Agree!
      Holly’s poetry is inspiring.
Inspiration is at the base of perspiration.
Once inspired, there’s work to be done. In our cases, creative work.
Is it nice and cool where you are? Or, is it dry and tindery?

      1. Dry and tindery, Resa, but not too hot and no smoke. This is a pretty normal summer for us, and I feel for everyone dealing with the consequences of climate change. I Thank every day for the clear cool Pacific winds.

        1. I’m happy there’s no smoke!
          Whew!
          No cool winds here!
LOL… when the wind blows here, I think of my convection oven. Good for cookies.

  8. Holly’s poetry talents are always awesome and your photo and her poem go well together Resa.. The music is a beautiful piece.. Thank you Resa and Holly for this lovely duo .. ❤ xx

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment, Sue!
Holly’s poem is evocative. Love it!
The violin solo is a gem! The entire “Scheherazade” is brilliant! ❤ xx

    1. Thank you Charlotte!
I love that violin solo, too.
I keep trying to find out id “Scheherazade” or “A Thousand and One Arabian Nights” have been made into an opera, but it seems not. It should be!
I’d do the costumes in a heartbeat!

    1. Yay! Thanks Cindy! Did you see our recent pairing on Art Gowns…. The Sad Cafe? I’m thrilled about it! I just love Holly’s poetry! 💞💞
