Dream On

A couple of months ago I spotted a blue face, on what looked like a convenience store wall. I was a passenger in a car, and I was daydreaming. The blue face snapped me back to reality.

The face haunted me, and I finally went back. On foot, I started at one corner of the probable area, and proceeded to walk the streets in an organized grid fashion.

I found that blue face, and more. This is not the original blue face I saw. That will be my next post.

As a matter of fact, I didn’t see these faces at first. They were almost invisible in the daylight, like ghost faces. I took their pics anyway.

The bright, weird creature was what one saw, couldn’t miss it a mile away.

I was shocked as I looked at the faces on my computer when I got home. It was like magic. I could see them clearly. I pushed the enhance a bit, and then they really popped.

I added a bit of light to some, and a bit of dark to others. A cool magic was added by the suns rays.

Perhaps these are meant to be seen at night.

Mid city, spaces for 4 or 5 businesses, parking on 3 sides, this was once a guaranteed money making convenience pit stop location. Now there’s only a cannabis outlet.

    1. This is a wonderful mural, in a not very good, a bad area of the city. I will for sure heed your words to stay safe Martha!
      You stay safe, too!

  1. Wow! I can see why you were entranced by these (while looking for the other). Beside that super bright “thing”, they really do look dreamy.
    Wonderful, Sorceress!

    1. I love this mural, Thunder! Nick Sweetman sure knows how to paint…and loves to paint on walls.
It was somewhat of a scummy place, but I don’t care. I got the art. xoxo

  2. Ah Resa, we see when we look deeply into the soul of the artist. A wonderful photo collection that came with the most amazing music selection. Thank you.

    1. Nick Sweetman is an amazing artist, and he is passionate about painting on walls. He painted the Monarch butterfly on my home.
Funny how finding street art still excites me after 10 years.

OMG Steve Tyler can SING! What a performance, and when he called out Slash, my heart skipped. My N can play like that. I’m weak kneed around guitar players.
      Welcome!!!!

  3. Timothy Price's avatar Timothy Price

That is a haunting image and interesting with the seahorse. I thought there might be a Dream On video included. You didn’t disappoint.

    1. Thanks Tim! x
That video…. OMG! talk about not disappointing! What a performance. Steve sings as great as ever, and when Slash came out I broke into a cold sweat.

I gotta tell you it was not the best area of the city. Across the road and around the corner, on a major street, in broad daylight there were at least 35 junkies hitting up outside an old building. There must be a safe needle place in that building.
I won’t be going there at night!!!!!

  4. Haunting! I agree with Tim. It’s also their expressions… as if they are lost in an endless night with otherworldly creatures. What a find, dahling! I love all the different views, the play with light and the enhancement. Wow!

    1. Thank you dahling Marina!
It’s a great mural! Honestly, those faces were barely visible in the daylight.
It was a huge treat to play with the faces when I got home.
Makes me want to go out and find more art. I will!

    1. I thought of you the entire time I was making the post, because we share a “like” for Steve Tyler.
Steve Tyler is a rock legend, and he sings as great as ever. And what about Slash? Was that cool or what when Steve called him out? I’m still sweating!
      xo🐭🐭xo.

        1. Yeah, he sure has the voice!! ❤️
He does look different, but he looks fabulous. His look is amazing cool. I might borrow some ideas from it. (for me …lol)
I grew out my grey, and I like the way he features it at the front (where most of mine is) and the rest is a nest. I don’t have the right hair for a nest, but I can do a sort of a mess for occasions.
          xoxoxo

          1. He’s very cool, you should see him in his ridding letters with lots of fringe. The best way to make a mess is use the strongest Hold hairspray, flip your hair over your face and spray then flip it back. So cool Uber Meece. You Be rockin’!
            🎶🐭🐭🎶

            1. OMG! I love fringe. It must have been the most fab experience riding with Steve Tyler!

Think I’ll break out my fringe poncho. It’s a copy of the one Daltrey wore at Monterey, when Hendrix upstaged the Who.
Okay, thanks for the hair tip. Next family dinner I’m gonna blow them away. Could be a good time to get my pic taken.
Maybe I’ll buy a couple of those coloured clip in hair extensions, and throw those in.
Uber Meece to Ultra Meece! 🎶🐭🐭🎶

                    1. Yeah!
                      I adore him.
I answered your mail and sent a video of the band he was in “Platinum Blonde”. You can see him play drums. Sigh! xoxo🐭🥁🐭xoxo

    1. Yes, It makes me think Sweetman painted it to be seen fully at night.
I’d go back at night, but the area is not … nice!

    1. Thank you dear John!
I know, the video is so cool. He wrote that song 50 years ago, and still sings it with passion.
      💋🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂💋

  5. This is amazing. The detail on the faces especially. Maybe it is just the colour that is heightening taht detail but truly, work of art doesn’t begin to cover it.

  6. I was thinking kids entranced by the exotic sea creature (looks like some type of sea-horse) in an aquarium, but then you said “cannabis shop”, and now I wonder… OK, I guess it most likely still is, since it isn’t an LSD shop.
    Anyway, cool street art!

        1. He’s so cool. He sang a song he wrote 50 years ago, and there was still a lot of passion in it. xo
This art is in a crazy spot in the city.
Across the street and around the corner I had to walk by about 35 junkies. They were all hitting up in broad daylight. This is pretty much right downtown. It was scary and sad all at once.

  7. HI Resa, what an extraordinarily amazing painting. The way the artist has made those faces ghost like, I assume as a reflection of the light coming from the creature in the glass box, is astounding. That must have been difficult to do. Thanks for sharing this. A post I will be revisiting.

    1. Glad you like the painting! I love it.
I’m thinking it shows up better at night, but it’s not a nice area to visit at night.
      Have a great weekend…almost here!

    1. Not many know it’s a sea dragon. I didn’t.
Nick Sweetman, the artist has a penchant for painting sea creatures and animals.
      😻😻

    1. Yes, that’s what I think!
I travelled to a not good place of the city, to find this. It’s interesting how a lot of wonderful art street art is in bad parts of town.

  8. How cool that you didn’t notice them until you saw them in the photo. They remind me of a reflection of faces on aquarium glass. They are beautiful, Resa. I’m looking forward to the other faces. I’m glad you found them. ❤

    1. I adore the faces. It was a huge shock for me when I realized it was all 1 mural. From the ghostliest of ghosts to the vibrancy of all out colour, hooray for artists who don’t hold back! ❤

      1. I looked for murals when I was in Chicago, and only found one small one. The part of the city where we were staying was mostly glass. That was my only disappointment.

        1. Aww… Oh well.
Did you take many pics of the small one?
I just saw your Chicago post. It is a gorgeous city! I didn’t see the small art.
Will you be posting it? Mail me pics if you are not. Perhaps I can use them in a post. If it’s only 1 pic, I could include it in a post of singles others have sent in. I’m just trying to build up enough for a post.
          Whatever!
I actually travel city wide to find murals, or at least I did until Covid.
I’m getting around a tad more now… but still, I keep knowing people who get Covid.
          UCH!
Fortunately I live in an old part of the city, where the artists like to paint, and many residents like sprucing up the area with art.

Welcome back and BIG CONGRATS!!!! 🤩🤩🤩

          1. I didn’t take a pic. It was blocked by a delivery truck and my husband was making a bee-line up the street for lunch. Lol. I imagine that away from downtown there are plenty of murals, we just didn’t walk that far! Next time!

  9. Indeed a magical find. Oddly enough, on the side of a cannabis store? Lol, then perhaps the murals are fitting of ‘what’s inside the box’. Another great find and enhancement! Hugs ❤ xox

    1. Thank you, Debby!
Lol, yeah art in cannabis land.
Ahh, the life of a graffiti hunter! I should get a pith helmet.
I just love finding street art. It’s just one of those things I can’t seem to shake. xo❦ox
