A Mosaics Moment

Mosaics are art. I found these outside, so they qualify as Street Art.

This one was on busy downtown street.

The next one is old, in rough shape and found in an alley. Broken mirror pieces are part of the mosaic. That is me in the shatter!

The Artists: Are unknown to me

The artist’s name in mosaic form?

No name on this one, just a piece of gum.

  1. Thank you for sharing this Resa. Mosaics in Canada is great. Normally i think its more turk or egyptian style. Art is international and its wonderful to see mosaics in Canada too. Michael

    1. Ya! I’m Shattered…like in the Rolling Stones song. I kept hearing the song the entire time I shot this, and made the posted. However, as shattered as I was, I did not run out and buy some Cherry Garcia. Yet, I know I will this summer. It’s the only ice-cream I ever crave, and when I think about it I see that the chocolate chunks and cherries are shattered shards within the frozen delight. ❤

    1. I hadn’t thought of that, but yes, they must hold up quite awhile. I would think the older one is at least 10 years old. Resa 🦄🌹

        1. It’s a good thing I have a lot in the kitty! It’s way too, hot to walk around. It’s cooled down to 90F today. Yesterday was 110F

          1. It has been brutally hot here in Florida. Everyday in the mid 90’s but with the humidity it feel like its over 100. Our climates are changing so much. I’m enjoying the indoors though I miss gardening and swimming in the pool. The pool water has been 89; not exactly the place to cool off. 😄

            1. Wow, 89 in the pool! Yeah, I’ve bee working on some paintings while the HOT weather steams over. Climate is changing. ❤

  2. Impressive mosaics. The lady with umbrella is stunning. Cool camera pic in the mirror too 🙂 There was a huge J. F. Kennedy Memorial mosaic dating back to the 60s in Birmingham UK where I grew up. When the area was redeveloped the mosaic was sadly demolished, but the original artist’s son rescued many of the pieces and they were used as templates to recreate the original which was put up in another part of Birmingham. I saw it last time I visited and was not only taken back in time but pleased that efforts had been made to honour the original. Wikipedia has a good article for those interested.

    1. I will try to find the JFK mural in Wikipedia. That is the kind of art related modern history story I adore.
So happy you like this post! 😀

What a cool self-portrait! I love the mosaics too. Toronto seems to have an endless supply of amazing street art. xoxo

    1. Yes, the city is having a love affair with street art! Unfortunately, it’s sickeningly hot here, and you can’t go for a decent walk to find the art. It was 40C or 110F here yesterday due to humidity. It’s cooled down to 30C or 90F today. I’m inside in the AC working on my Art Gowns paintings. I need 10 by the end of the month, so I can submit to an art show. xoxo

I’m so excited for the art gowns being displayed at an art show! I’m sure they’re squabbling among each other as to who gets to go.
We’re having a heat wave too, and a bit of a drought actually in southern England. xoxo

  4. Gorgeous mosaic art! Must have taken a lot of time; the creativity around your locality is mind -blowing. You are cool, even in shatters!!!
