Toronto Blue Jays – World Series/2025

Big Kiss for the Blue Jays

What a beautiful and hectic city Toronto is. You feel it in the slideshow!

And they picked the best bird to name their Baseball team after.

Hey, look! It’s a José Bautista mural!

José Bautista

2008 – 2017

Famous for “The Bat Flip” Bautista was a 6 time all-star, with 288 homers across 10 seasons with Toronto. Click on the pic below to read what the CBC has to say!

He rejoined the Blue Jays on August 11, 2023 for 1 day and retired a Blue Jay.

Commissioned by The Toronto Blue Jays, Bautista attended the unveiling of this massive mural with his family.

You can see its gargantuaness in the pic to the left, by comparing to the teeny people in the lower right corner.

He even signed it, in gold paint!

This was not an easy mural to capture. Still, after I found a way over the fence and into the construction site, I shot lots, and got some good ones. A few more are in the slideshow.

Bautista, one of the Blue Jay’s Gems!

“We must be painted on a time travel garage door.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Because I see Cito Gaston!”

Cito Gaston

Gaston was the Blue Jays coach when Joe Carter hit the winning home run in the 1993 World Series. The Blue Jays won the title for 2 years in a row. (1992 & 1993) I always say they kept it for a 3rd year in 1994. That was the year of the big baseball strike, and there was no World Series.

My wings are waving the Jays on to victory, and my tail shows I’m a fan!

  1. I don’t follow sports at all, but I do like blue jays, the birds–and love all the artwork with them here. Thank you. We have lots of blue jays here. The other morning, I saw a group of them together around a tree. And, of course, we hear them! They are quite loud, and sometimes they imitate red-tailed hawks!

    1. I’m a fair weather sports fan. I follow when one of our Teams is winning. Still, somehow the Jays vs. Dodgers feels more like Canada vs. the USA this year, more than ever.

I adore blue jays too! They are gorgeous, and yes, loud, wow, they can scream. I never heard that about the jays imitating Red Tail Hawks. I saw a hawk once. I was feeding birds in the snow.

All of a sudden snow flew up into a cloud, there was a noise, a noise of birds crying, loud flutters. I could see him landing through the cloud. His rear talons arched towards me, and our eyes locked.

A second later it was over. The snow was covered with a layer of small, fine, fear shed feathers.

      1. We have lots of hawks around here. I saw one at the park the other day–actually a man pointed him out, and then I walked around and got more photos. I’ve seen them catch things, too, but not in the snow–what a vivid description!

        1. Thanks Merril!
The hawk sure is a majestic and fierce bird.
I can still see it, his eyes, the talons.
I was hyper for days, telling people about it. Lol…I don’t see a lot of nature here.
Norm went out and bought me a silver feather. 💙🪶

  2. I am in a different world for baseball (Pittsburgh Pirates) but I’ve been rooting for the Jays because of how many friends I’ve made in Canada through WordPress. Go Jays!

    1. Thanks Dan!

Yes, if our home team isn’t in, then we get to root for another! I have made many US pals via WP. It’s a wonderful thing. Go Dan!

      YAHOO!

      💥 GO JAYS! 💥

  3. Even many Montrealers, who feel by right they can diss all the Toronto teams, are rooting for the Jays. Hell, I’m even gonna watch the game on Friday!

These are amazing, Sorceress! Wonderful timing (I know you were waiting; and now is the perfect timing).

    1. Lol… well, I think all of Canada feels the same. It’s not just Jays vs Dodgers, it’s Canada vs. the USA. And with all the crap going on, that sentiment is huge.

I’ve been saving these up since 2017.

Hey, let’s send some THUNDER to the Jays!
      ⚡️💥⚡️💥⚡️💥⚡️💥⚡️💥⚡️💥⚡️💥⚡️💥
      xoxoxoxoxo

      1. Hahaha! That is for sure. And it IS Canada vs the USA, no doubt about that. Especially now.

        Woo hoo!!! Good thing!

        Let’s! ⚡️💥⚡️💥⚡️💥
        And some magic! 🧚🏼‍♀️🪄🧚🏼‍♀️🪄🧚🏼‍♀️🪄

    1. You are welcome, Violet!
It’s a great distraction right now, with so much political upheaval in the world.
I’m not a sports person, but when our team is winning, I jump on the bandwagon… a fair weather fan. LOL!

I’ve collected these pics since 2017!

Thank you for your visit and lovely comment! x

    1. Thanks Robbie! Yes, it’s Canada vs. the USA, and the country is stoked.
I can’t just sit and watch though. I’ll have the games on while drawing and sewing.

    1. I adore the girls art. It’s not a new style, but it is quite appealing. Lol… the cigar smoking Jay is classic street art style.
      Yes! GO JAYS!
      x⚾x

    1. You are welcome, Luisa!
I’m not a big sports person, but this is a big deal for Toronto, and Canada.
I’m happy I had pics to go with the celebrations.
      💖⚾🌹

  4. Beautiful wall art. I love Cardinals. Nature is amazing. I’m not a baseball fan, for some rrason that’s the least sport that grabs my interest. I think it’s because when I was a kid and wanted to watch TV in the summer there was nothing on but baseball ⚾️ But this is a special game and I will follow it. It will be an exciting game , maybe it will get my mind off the “ballroom”.
    xoxoxoxoxo

    1. OH man! The Ballroom! Talk about heartbreaking. I thought the Rose Garden desecration was a horror, but the gangster’s regime keeps outdoing itself.

It’s not just the Jays vs. the Dodgers, it’s Canada vs. the USA. and all heightened by the awful politics going on.

Well, I’ll watch while I sew and draw. Poor Kieth has been on deck for a while. I needed to finish my drawings for our SC post, Shey’s new book and Gi’s Halloween party.

No new gowns for a minute, although I’ve been collecting flower art for a Boogapony flower power post.

      xoxoxoxoxo

      1. I know. Only a maniac would do this to a historical site that is not his but the people’s house. To imagine that so many think this is fine really makes me sick.
Yes, it’s a shame that we have to say “ Canada against the USA” when it used to just be a game competition. I hate that guy. ❤️

        1. Me too, I hate him too.
I cannot believe the entire USA is not outraged about him destroying their house, especially when there are so many homeless, and people who cannot afford a home.
          Outrageous!

And next year is your Bisesquicentennial celebration. WTF? xo❤️xo

          1. I have no clue what’s happened to these people ppl lethal are defending his every lawless move. The body snatchers. I don’t know what’s going to happen here. It’s a nightmare.
            xoxoxoxoxo

      1. Timothy Price's avatar Timothy Price

Bruce is a baseball fan, so I get all the lowdown on the teams. Since I don’t much like anything California, I’ll root for the Blue Jays.

  5. Nice to see the Blue Jays back in the World Series. Of course, I “fondly” recall the last time when they walked off our Phillies in 1993 to win it all. These are fabulous photos of members, mascot and logo alike, Resa. When they first came to fruition, I remember the Blue Jays playing games at Exhibition Stadium, and how excited the fan base was when they made the 1985 ALCS against the Royals, which they almost pulled out. Cito was a great manager for them during his time there, and it is nice to see him featured here. (I am old enough to remember seeing him playing!)

    1. Hello Bruce!

I fished you out of SPAM! I check spam every day. It’s ridiculous who ends up in there, every now and then, some of my best blog pals..

Thanks Bruce! I’ve been saving up Jays street art since 2017.

I do remember Joe Carter’s home run. I did know Gaston was a coach. I finally put it all together when making this post. Actually as you mentioned, I just found out he was a player once. DUH! Where did I think coaches came from? Coach College?

So, a Phillies fan! Since they aren’t in the game…Is it Jays or Dodgers for you?

      💎⚾️

      1. Resa, it is Jays all the way for me. I think a lot of Americans are rooting for the Jays. They are a great story, and the Dodgers are seen by many as the “evil empire” of baseball. Thanks for fishing me out of spam. I can swim, but who knows for how long when you’re in spam!

        1. LOL!
          The evil empire of baseball?

Spam is deadly. If you are left in Spam folders, it spreads. Next thing all your comments are going into all blogs’ Spam folders.

I had a big incident and WP & Aksimet spent a month straightening out the situation. I still have to stay on top of it. As soon as I see my comment didn’t go through, I contact the person to fish me out, and don’t comment on any blogs until I’m freed.

This is why I will not comment on a blog unless they comment on mine, or I can reach them through their Contact Page.

          💥🌟 GO JAYS 🌟💥

          1. i have a sneaking suspicion that there must be some kind of pattern to this sequence 🔎 totally baffled as to what it could be though 🤔 guess i’m just gonna have to hopelessly flunk this MENSA test…🤷‍♂️

            ⬻ღ☆∞♡ 💙💙 𝒽𝒶𝓅𝓅𝓎 💙 𝒻𝓇𝒾𝒹𝒶𝓎 💙💙 ♡∞☆ღ⤖

    1. LOL! Thanks Liz! I’ve been saving up since 2017….. waiting ……waiting.
Actually, I have more, but enough is enough.
I’m not even into sports. Still, Canada vs. the USA is intriguing.

  6. This is wonderful…from the colors on each mural to variety of murals all based round one thing. I’m saying it and i’s a sport I don’t follow. Bravo. Truly. I was hooked right in. xxxx

    1. YAY! Well, I’m not a big sports person, but it’s our home team. So, I got to use all the Jays art I was saving.
      It’s Canada vs. the USA!
      Poetic
      xxxxxxxx

          1. Well, my oldest is a boy BUT the middle one who is a girl does football training and hopefully will be in an amateur team soon. The 3 of them are very sporty actually. They are all fearless. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

              1. xxxxxx Resa. I like to think they are also the products of their mams, who were brought up to be their own women regardless of the probs that we had to fish them out of sometimes but in whose lives we never interfered. Gave a bit of advice when asked but that was it. xxxxx re the rest of your comment . Truly I always believe in being young at heart xxxxxxx Oh and in writing xxxxx

                1. Yes, in writing – creativity is a saviour.
I adore you: your love of the arts, your attitude, kindness and your contagious joy.
Must be the air in Scotland! 😉
                  xxxxxxxxxxx

  7. What stunning murals!!! The one of Jose Bautista is super cool! I love the way the crowd behind him are black and white and the blue color of his top stands out! Also love the bats above him, too; they seem to symbolize the sport in general up there! The jay is amazing. I love these birds, although sadly, I don’t think I’ve ever had the privilege of seeing one! One day, perhaps! As always, Resa, your photographic talents are wonderful! 💙🧑‍🎨🧢

    1. Thank you, Ada! 🌟🌟

I’m not a big sports fan, but this is a big deal for Toronto, and Canada.
I’ve been tossing Jays art in a folder since 2017. LOL…

Anyway, I’m thrilled I had it to celebrate this.
I have lots of sewing and drawing to do, so I’ll have the games on in the background.

Thank you about my photo talents. I do try. Part of it is the camera, but there are other factors.
I have seen Blue Jays. They are big, blue, beautiful and loud.
      💙🌟❦💎

    1. Tuffytats.. probably a tattoo artist’s instagram. Horus could be a tattoo artist by trade, many street artists are. OR Tuffytats could have helped with the painting.

Yes, they are noisy and sassy, and BIG and blue and beautiful.

  8. Hi Resa and congrats on another fab collection of pics for these masterpieces. Now as you may recall I did a bit of a tribute to the Maple Leafs for their special !00th anniversary in 2017, unfortunately I didn’t know about the celebration the Blue Jays were having or I might have come up with something….though I think the mural outdoes any other tribute I could make! Thanks for sharing.

    1. You are welcome Tyeth!
Hey, if they win the World Series, maybe you could design a Blue Jays light saber bat?
      LOL!
I’m serious. Of course they would have to win first. Best of 7. Here we go!

    1. Agree! The artist captured him beautifully.

That is a true talent, seeing as how the mural is massive. I’ve seen these artists paint. They do not use projection. They just do it. They stand back….way back, a lot, and look.

  9. Omigosh, Resa. These are stunning. Love the bright colors and tribute to the Blue Jays even if I’m a Giants and Dodger fan.. I know an oxymoron. I love to but everyone in my house.. lol. And I could care less really. lol 😂

    1. LOL! I know what you mean, Cindy. I’m not a big deal sports person, but this year my hometown is in, so I’m up.
I’ve been stashing Jays street art since 2017, and it’s a gas to finally use it.

Okay…you cheer the Dodgers, I’ll cheer the Jays, and we can think of each other!
      X 🔵 X⚾️ X💙

  10. What incredible display of mural art, Resa! The scale alone is breathtaking — and that gold signature is such a perfect finishing touch. You always find a way to bring art and energy together in celebration of the moment. By the way, I watched the game, and I have to say, it was super exciting! You could feel the excitement in every play — and your photos capture that same electric spirit. Toronto must be buzzing with pride as the Blue Jays soar into the World Series!

    1. Toronto is hysterical!

I’m not that big of a sports fan, but I sure am on this bandwagon.
I’ve been stashing these pieces since 2017, waiting for our time.

Well, the big games begin tomorrow.

Iv’e got sewing and drawing ready to go.
      YAHOO!
      🔵💙🧢💎⚾️

    1. Thanks Gi!
I collected these pieces since 2017…waiting, waiting.
I am a tad sad that it is as much about Canada vs. the US as it is just about being a competition, though.
      xoxoxo

  11. Terrific artwork, Resa. I will definitely be rooting for the Blue Jays. It’s always great to get some new teams in the World Series.

For a beautiful bird, jays are so obnoxious-sounding. We have lots of Steller Jays in Northern California

    1. I just looked up Stellar Jays today. OMG! They are gorgeous. Lol…obnoxious… Well, with that kind of beauty one would need something to drive away the unwanted suitors.

      💥 GO JAYS 💥

      THANKS PETE!

  12. You have a wonderful collection of Blue Jay, Resa! I love all the murals. The José Bautista mural is impressive. I’m not a sports fan so I don’t know the names. I had Scrub Jays in my California garden. Now I have three Steller Jays in my Portland garden.

    1. Oooo, you have Stellar Jays. I just looked them up. Gorgeous. Lucky you. It sounds beautiful where you live.
I’m not a sports person, either, but when a hometown team is in for the prize, I jump on the band wagon.
      (Fair Weather Fan!)

  13. You’ve created a Blue-tiful ode to the home town team. The Blue Jays of Stieb and Carter, Joey Bats and Vladdy, back in the Series again. And Resa is on the job, the lovely correspondent for the team she loves. And sports! You did sports!

    1. Thank you sports Marc!
      Yes, I did Sports. 😵‍💫

      ⚾️💎 SPORTS ART 💎⚾️

I’ve been saving up this Jays street art since 2017. And now that we have a chance to actually win, I’ve jumped on the bandwagon.

      💙💥 GO JAYS 💥💙

      MUAH!

      1. Sports Marc approved!

        Love that emoji action Resa.

You have always been a fan and now the Jays are giving you a great reason to tune in. And to bring your art with you.

        BOOM!

        MUAH!

  14. Wow! This is an impressive, vibrant report about a legendary baseball team. I didn’t know you’re a baseball fan, Resa. Your first mural provides an intriguing view of Toronto, the big city. And I really like the colour blue!

    Thanks, my friend!

    🥰👍💞💞👏😘😘

    1. Hello Aladin,

I’m not a big deal sports fan, but when a home town team is in a big playoff, I hop on the band wagon.

LOL, I’ve been saving up this art since 2017. Anyway, we have some fun days coming up, a brief reprieve from politics.
      Hope you are doing well!
      Go Jays!
      💙💙 😘😘 💙💞💞 💙💙

  15. I don’t watch baseball, Resa, but the artwork is stunning! That garage mural, Wow! And I do understand from your comment above, Canada vs. USA. 😦
Sending hugs for a great weekend! And good luck to the Blue Jays! 💙🕊️⚾️❤️

    1. The garage mural is gorgeous. Im thrilled I had a chance to use it. The colours really brighten up that alley.
      I await your next book.
      Big Hugs to you!
      xo💙🕊️⚾️❤️

    1. Lol, thanks EF!
I never knew what a grand slam was until that game. Shows how much I watch. But of the sports, I like baseball second best.
My fave is curling, the most laid back sport; unless sleeping is a sport.
In the end it’s just fun….I hope.
Wait ’til you see my Halloween post!
      Be well! 🌟🕊️⚾️🔵

      1. 🧊Curling! I hope it gets a primetime slot for the upcoming olympics. I played table curling at a bar the other day (more like shuffle board as there were no brooms involved) HaHA I nap every day I can… Looking forward to your Halloween post👻

    1. Thanks Brian!
Yeah, I’m not a big sports person, but hey, it’s my home team, and I have this art burning a virtual hole in my electronic photo files! xxx

  16. I can tell that you’re a fan, Resa. Lol. I’m not familiar with the team (and don’t watch baseball), but I do love the birds! Toronto seems like a fun place to live. And not struggling with fascism like the US.

    1. I’m not a big sports fan, but when one of our home teams gets close I tend to jump on the band wagon.
Also, I’ve been stashing this art since 2017, and am thrilled to have an opportunity to use it.

Yes, being in Toronto, a Canadian – in Canada – (150 Canadians in ICE detention in the USA – 2 children, 1 child for 52 days, 1 person died from refusal for meds) is great.

Our struggle right now is keeping up the resistance to the onslaught of disinformation and fascist energy coming in from the states.
      Sigh!

The birds, blue jays, are a big beautiful boisterous bird. I love them, and many street artists like to paint them. I have more in my photo files.

      Thank you, Diana! Hugs

        1. xoxoxoxo
          I belong to the resistance!
Charlie Angus is leading the way!
From musician, to Member of Parliament, to leader of the resistance, his words are fanning our resolve!

  17. GO JAYS GO! Loved the artwork Res, and especially the slide show of your etched face holding all the glory of our chaotic city. And also loved the tribute bio and Cito! Okay, time to stop remembering 1993 and make a new statement – World Series Champs 2025 – Toronto Blue Jays. Manifest! 😍💜💚 xox

    1. Yayay Debby!
I know we lost last night, but we didn’t go down easy. 18 innings!!! Wow!
      Toronto, Yahoo!!!

So, your book is excellent, and timely in my life.
Blog pal Trent passed away suddenly, while we were working on a post about JOY.
My N is sick, and we don’t know what’s wrong.
Tests are ongoing. This has slowed all I do down. There is much to do and deal with.

So, I read on with keen interest.

One thing I’d like to say, is about “The Fog”.
I was in the biggest fog when my mom died. That made so much sense to me.

      Okay, luv ya!
      xo💙🌹

      1. Resa, first about my book, thank you for reading. And a very sad loss about Trent, I’ve heard. I’d say a timely book for sure. And the fog yes, many can relate. Sadly. But our Jays, we won last night!!!!! Jay fever is real!!!!!! Go Jays Go! Big hugs my friend 💜💙 xoxox
