The Unicorn & the Sprite

Fantasy Alley

Here comes one with a camera!

I see her. Okay, look into the lens this time!

Gotcha!

But remember, you stay on the fence, and I’ll stay on the door until just the right moment!

Where should we take her? Avalon or Arcadia?

I say Arcadia! Dryads, nymphs and other spirits are there.

Good idea, but we’ll have to watch out for Pan and Hermes. They’re roaming around Peloponnesus.

True, but Atalanta will be there, and she’s the King’s daughter. She’ll protect us!

Good point! Here she comes. NAB HER!

    1. Thanks Merril!

Yeah, most people paint themselves into a corner, I painted myself into a mural. 😂

I needed a temporary escape from reality, and this is what I came up with. 💙

    1. Lol… well Beth, it was a heck of a week. So when they called me to jump into a mural, I could not resist. Most frugal getaway ever.

    1. Thank you, EF!

Yes, The Beatles had The Magical Mystery Tour, so I thought I’d one-up and take The Mythical Mentality Trek. 🌟🦄

  1. That’s not just painting—it’s like you’ve woven a mythical story around these murals! You could even turn it into a short film!

    😉🤙🤗💖🌟🌟

  2. Timothy Price's avatar Timothy Price

I love the murals and telling of the tale. I especially like the final nab! “AAAAAaaaRRRRRRRGGGGGgggggggGGGGGHHHHHhhhh”

    1. Lol!

Yes, thank you dear Holly! I’m in a temporary Myths of Meece mindset.

It’s pretty great in here, and it’s free of charge.

      (What a week!)

      xoxoxo🐭👯‍♀️🐭xoxoxo

        1. You are always a part of “The Adventures in Meeceland!”
It is lots of fun, and even more when you are here!
          xoxoxoxoxo🐭🎉🐭xoxoxoxoxo

  3. Ahhh!! What a fun post, LOVE the slow reveal and story of each mural until we see the entire thing!! I LOVE these gorgeous murals and especially the collage with your selfie capturing the stunning art 😍😍😍 Thanks, Resa, have a fabulous weekend!

    1. How the ef do I miss these comments!

      Thank you, dear Ruth!

They are lovely images, and I just needed a fun getaway of sorts, so why not get captured by mythical creatures?

I had a great weekend, and now it’s mid week. 🙄 But tonight there’s a jam session here, so I get to have live music to draw by. 🤗

I think you are still on vaycay?

      XOXOXO

    1. Thank you, Jo! I just wanted an inexpensive short term vaycay, so I went away with the mystical creatures. I’m a vacation in my own mind!

  4. As always, such bold and amazing street art! There’s something defiant, I think, in this one — it feels empowering, somehow. The way you photograph it is amazing, Resa: it’s like reading a story, with the ending being a spectacular (and surprising) finish! Thanks so much for sharing. 🦄💫🌸

    1. Haha! Thank you, Ada!
It was a tough week, and so I felt like being silly and fun. Nothing like a bit of comedy to ease … whatever.

It’s always a joy to see you!
      😀❦🌟💖🎉

  5. Oh, Resa, you’re in the picture. I love that and you look beautiful. The artwork is fantastic. Just beautiful and your pictures really show off the work. Great post and just gorgeous.

  6. lol, how fun!

That unicorn is kind of creepy with the green “works” through its body! On the other hand, there is that pole, so maybe it is an escapee from a carousel.

The woman is great, though there are oddly changing perspectives in her face, almost semi-cubist.

    1. Thanks Trent! Yes, fun is needed right now.
      Yes, I think it escaped a Merry-go-Round!
Cubist? I’m just learning about all these art movements.

      1. I am not sure if cubist (neo-cubist?) is quite right, but the perspective is a little odd – each part of the face seems to be viewed from a slightly different vantage.
        Yes, fun is needed!

        1. It is definitely odd an odd face. I liked it, then I didn’t, then I did. Art can do that to a person.

Fun..yes, and I have fun with you, and some other blog pals… arts fun!

  7. Ah, dahlin, I love the story and the art but most of all that beautiful spy capturing it all! 😉

    and from Hera:

    1. Yes… well they captured the beautiful (thank you!) spy, didn’t they? Don’t worry, Marina, I should be able to break free anon! I’ll get pics on my way out.

  8. Oh no – you’ve been captured by a garage door! And yet you’re smiling. Perhaps you have the key to the exit. What is your game plan? You can trust me.

    1. Hahahaha!
Yes… DARN those garage doors! They sneak up when you least expect it.
No, no key. At this point, I’m looking around for a rabbit hole, or a mirror, while….

      Game Plan – shhhhhhh!!! 🤫🤐

The owner will have to come home at some point. Hopefully there will be an opportune moment to roll out under the garage door as it’s closing.

If that fails, I will have to sneak up from behind and steal his garage door remote.

If that fails…I hope there’s an extra cot in the garage.

If there are no future posts…… you know where I am!

  9. Resa, this is pure magic and a wonderful homecoming for me. I’m back from a blog break. The Unicorn and the Sprite is a dance of imagination and artistry—your eye for mural storytelling is extraordinary. I love how you weave mythological figures like Pan, Atalanta, and Hermes into a gentle tale that feels both timeless and playful. You capture amazing street art and your creative voice brings them fully to life. Thank you for continuing to remind us that beauty and wonder can be found on city walls and whispered through a bit of mythical mischief. Sending hugs!

    1. Thank you for this wonderful comment, Rebecca!

      AND

      Welcome Back!

Playful (even mischievous ) is needed, and it’s interesting how serious characters of mythology can offer us just that, after all the centuries of their inception have passed.

      Bug Hugs back to you!

        1. Thank you! It’s been strange…my B-i-L drowned mysteriously last week. He was wearing a life jacket, and in good health. Autopsy this week.
          🤗💖

  10. Hahaha! I love what you did with the last photo, Resa. How will we rescue you? Or do you even want to be rescued? 😀 I’ll send Bedlam Thunder and Bob the Hummingbird over from Thistledown: Midsummer Bedlam. They’ll either rescue you or take you, the sprite, and the unicorn on an adventure to Thistledown. Thank you for making me smile. Hugs on the wing.

    1. Rescued…maybe one day. It’s kind of lovely here in my own mind.

Although, meeting your Bedlam Thunder and Bob the Hummingbird would be a real treat.

      Let’s all go to Thistledown!

      Hugs & hugs!

    1. Dear Lauren,

I needed some fun, for sure! This was an easy escape. The arts, in any and all forms, are the best medicine!

      Adore you!

      1. I think many of us would love to escape the current hellscape we’ve found ourselves in. Your Prime Minister seems to be doing a really good job dealing with the insanity of US “policy.”

        1. Yes, I adore Carney.
Unfortunately that also means beefing up our troops, weapons and – NEW – military exercises on the hi-ways along the border. An invasion doesn’t feel imminent, but it feels very possible.
I never thought I’d see the day.

              1. Yes to those, too. I just had a long text conversation with a social worker friend of mine who works with the elderly in northern Vermont. He’s afraid the heat assistance program is going to get significant cuts, leaving people to choose among fuel, food, or (that’s OR) medication.

                1. Crazy!
We are experiencing medications &/or medication ingredients supply chain problems with the US.
I can’t even get my meds until hopefully next month. Fortunately, my situation is not life threatening, but some people’s are.

Nothing is or will be the same. We are turning to Europe, Australia, Korea and Japan for many needs now.
                  It’s beyond tariffs.

    1. It’s the call of the alleys, Marc, the urban wild.
Although, I did find a statue of a frog…or toad that i really like, in a more sterile area than I’m used to.
      RIBBIT!

        1. LOL

Yes I did! I took pics all around the piece. Photographing a sculpture requires a 360 degree attitude.

          Turns out..it’s a TOAD! I think.

          MUAH!

  11. What a fantastical, mythical sweet tale to accompany such lovely discoveries. And I loved the last pic with you inserted. 😃🥰🦄🦄💚❌⭕

    1. Thank you Debby!

      I thought I answered this.

Hmm, better check to see if someone else got your reply!

It was fun putting myself into that fantasy image. It was a quick, cheap getaway!

      ❦🌟🌹xoxo❦🌟🌹

    1. Yes, I love being in a mystic place with these creatures. Not being in this world from time to time, but existing in my creative mind is the best vaycay possible.
      Thank you, Diana! ❦

    1. Thank you, Yvette! It’s a wonderful & healthy escape for me, walking around and finding the art.
I like to impart a sense of what I saw and how I felt when I present.
Thank you so very much for noticing!

      1. My pleasure and I will be coming to Toronto area in 2026 and would love to meet for coffee. Not sure of any dates yet – but wanted to just let you know because maybe we can connect – if not – no worries

          1. yes – that would be pretty awesome. I was in Toronto last October and went to Yoga Tree (Richmond Hill) and was almost going to go again this October (my niece lives in St Catherines and she is h having a baby shower) but I cannot Make it work with other schedule items.
But I will give you plenty of notice so we can fmeet around some art!
