Bedroom- Painted House

In a dark second floor bedroom is this fabulous face.

The room was so dark and the colours of the painting so dark that some of the pics came out almost black.

It was quite the shock to my senses,

When I turned 180 degrees around, and saw this.

View of when you come out of the room, to go down the stairs. The black w/ green motif doorway on the right,

….. is a bathroom.

I told you I had a surprise for you on my stop of your Simple Pleasures book tour. All I had to do was pick 1 Bryan Ferry song. This turned out to be most difficult, overwhelming. Better late than never!

    1. I was good with the face. I can live with that on my wall. However, having the orange fish on the other side of the same room was a bit much… in terms of living in a room. xx

  1. The thing about murals is they’re like characters in a book in that they really are living, breathing beings to the person who brought them to life. Each with its own unique personality and this gallery is no different. It’s sensational Resa, you strike again!

    1. Agree!

This house was one helluva fun day for me.

Thanks Marc. Street art is one of the things I live for.

OMG!!! I found a beautiful Geisha surrounded by cherry blossoms today!

          1. Yeah, there was the epic night with ten mins to go he cancelled cos he had throat problems, and the daughter said she’d never go out with me and my friend again after we took to the Dundee hostelries. The next time there was some piano prob but the concert went ahead. Then there was the time he toured Dylan songs. and the Dundee punters were quite vocal re coming to hear him sing ‘Breh-an, no bleep, bleeping, Dylan’ Dundee people are hard to impress. I have to say he was very good.

    1. Thanks on all counts, Frank!

The face is special. I’ve been watching the artist’s art grow over the years. Impressive!

It was an excellent day touring this house. More posts to come.

      Love Bryan Ferry!

    1. Thanks about the pics, Dave!

The artist who painted the face has been doing street art for about 5 years. The first piece I found of hers was odd, and never made it to a post.

Now, she is just incredible. She’s come a long way. Curtia….. I’m assuming female, but I could be wrong. 🤗

  2. That is the bedroom I want! The face is fascinating, and the eyes want to tell a story. It seems the house is in a wonderland.
Thank you, Resa, for this beauty.
    Bryan Ferry is original.

    🙏💖👏🌹

    1. Aladin, you are right.

It is a House in Wonderland. I wish I would have thought of that for a title.

      I have more for later.

      Bryan Ferry is fab.

      🌹❦🌟🌸😽❦

    1. Crushed resignation…. I like that. Could be the name of a band, or a movie.

LOL…monsters.. yes, I get it now!

I love this cover. The young guitar player has me mesmerized.

      🎼🎨🌟

        1. He was young then, 2007. Born 88, so he was 19 in that vid. Wow! He’d be 36 now… still young! Oliver Thompson. Yes, the gift.
I have a thing for guitar players. I married one. 😊

              1. I do! Have since middle school. I play a telecaster, which is almost as good as a strat for Brian Ferry sound… Hendrix said the telecaster only has two sounds – ‘a good one and a bad one.’ He’s being tongue-in-cheek. I would argue a tele gets 2 good sounds and one bad one. And a strat gets at least 3 good ones and no bad ones! But teles are cool. It’s a working class person’s guitar

                  1. Hendrix Rocks. Certainly my biggest influence as far as playing style.

No, I’ve thought about it. Today actually I was thinking I might need to record one power slide to plugin between the section of music. But not since undergrad have I endeavored to record at enough of a polished level. I prefer to play acoustically with the dirtier sound.

                    1. Love the dirty sound.
Don’t underestimate its appeal, value and need at this moment in time!
Music is so over produced these day, it’s lost a sense of honest raw feeling.
I still prefer bands that actually play their instruments.
It’s like art. I prefer the real deal, over AI art. Yes, there are some sweet AI images, but ain’t nothin’ like the real thing.

                    2. For listening I’m a fan of over-produced, generally. Prime example being Butch Vig elevating Garbage to the heavens in the studio… AI on the other hand, specifically in music, is unholy, unhuman, and must be destroyed.

                    3. AI… grrrr… uch…
It’s too late to go back. Unfortunately AI has some features that will benefit mankind, greatly.
Yes, destruction of the monster, the Goliath is the only way out.
                      Where’s our David?

It’s the rats, the unethical, the grim and corrupt of humanity who will use it to help it create its full destructive potential.
                      Gee, like corporations and governments?

    1. Bryan Ferry is terrific, and I love this Dylan song. He did a fab rendition.

The trickiest thing about taking pics of the art was all the people who came to see it.

Many were from the neighbourhood, but others like me got tipped off. I still have a couple more posts.

A great day, all in all!

  3. My first impression was that she’s wordlessly saying, “You can look, but I’ll break your fingers if you get any closer. And put that back in your mouth – that’s disgusting.” That 180 degree turn, yep, that fish is leering at her in a way that deserves that look, but I have to change it to, “…I’ll break your fins if you get any closer….”

Great artwork! I will have to check to see if I missed any posts about the painted house while I was on my blogging break.

    1. Thanks for the fun comment, Trent!

So, you’re gonna finish off the fins, eh, Mugsy?

      That fish freaked me out!

Lol. Sounds like you had a fab vaycay, and back full of energy.

OMG! I had to go to the north end of the city. On my way back I got off the TTC early, and had a wonderful 2 hour walk home. I found a Geisha!

She’s gorgeous, in an alley on a garage door. She’s surrounded by cherry blossoms. I’m beside myself. I need to make a coffee and calm down!

      1. That fish is pretty freaky! And seeing him opposite that woman, I can understand why she has that “keep your distance” glare.
I really like that you got off the transit early so you could walk. I think it is great. And that you find art along the way is better! What better setting for a Geisha than cherry blossoms? I hope you got a lot of photos and that we get see her soon! Well, if you have more painted house photos, we need to see those first, of course, but… lol, hope the coffee helped – it would make me even more wired.

        1. Freaky is the word.

I go nutty when I can’t or don’t get enough walking time in. At my age I’ve learned the true meaning of use it or lose it.

Anyway, it was raining, but I took a chance. It was only spitting, and after. a half hour it was just grey, and oh so fresh in the alleys. 🤭

Well, I’m all over the place here with my postings, on 2 blogs. Holly is posting my Janis Joplin drawing tomorrow, I’ve got a post on breast cancer awareness going up first few days of October, tons of Making Her Marks, I found some cool art in the east end and I found a 3 year eroded Artemis with bow and arrow that knocks me out.

I’m art rambling. Yes, sooner than later the rest of the painted house will be posted, 4 more I think.

          Thank you Trent!

          1. I need many long walks every day. I don’t cut back even on days that I run, so I understand. And if it isn’t pouring, why not give it a chance?
It does seem like you have a lot of blogging coming up! Keeping busy.
Have a great rest of your week!

  4. A very cool house, Resa. I don’t think I could sleep in that bedroom. lol. I think I’d need the woman’s eyes to be closed, even though she’s stunning. And the fish could draw some interesting dream possibilities. Thanks for the great fun.

    1. Face art with eyes that close would be neat, one upon the eyes that follow you around the room.

The fish…. I find it scary. A. mild nightmare would be in order.

Yeah, street art is a lot of fun! ☆🎨

  5. That face is striking! I feel like she has seen a lot in her life. That bathroom is wild!

This is the house that is or will be destroyed, right? So, it will go down with wild, vivid memories.

    1. Yes, this is the house that may already be destroyed.
I still have a couple more posts on it.
However, October is on the horizon, and I want to do a Breast Cancer Awareness post.
I’m almost finished the encyclopedia, who will be my special guest…of sorts!
It’s a terrific book, Merril. Thank you for making it!

  6. Yikes! What amazing artwork in the house however not a place I would stay too long! So many rooms unsettling and spooky. Kudos to the artist though and their incredible imagination. Recently heard of a house for sale which was decorated inside entirely with Disney motifs, images etc. Not sure it has found a buyer yet! 😀

    1. Lol, a Disney motif is scarier than the insanity of this art house.
I know what you mean about living, or just being in such madness. 😵‍💫
However, it was only painted for art’s sake fun before it gets demolished.

Someone with kids will want a Disney house, or – get out the paint brushes!
Nice to see you, Annika! Thank you for the lovely comment! 🤗

    1. I wasn’t sure why I picked that song, but I think you’re right, Cheyenne.

Lol… I loved every minute in there, and yes, was happy to go home to my white walls!

  7. The features of that face are really something special… I am always amazed at how the artists manage to get the proportions so correct when painting something so huge..
I really enjoyed the tour inside Resa… and I am just imagining that bathroom being painted in green florescent paint that became illuminate in candle light while relaxing in the bubbles LOL… 🙂
Many thanks for sharing.. Have a great week. Hugs your way xx ❤ Oh and loved the Brian Ferry pick.. ❤ 💖✨💖

    1. Sue,
      The face is wonderful.
I have watched the artists paint faces and other large images on walls.
They often have a small sketch or photo they work from.
They do some painting, step back…way back… look at the painting, then at the sketch or photo.

They keep repeating that until it’s finished.
      It’s mesmerizing to watch them.

      Bryan Ferry is very cool.
      Hugs back at you!
      ☆❦🌹🌟🎨💓

      1. I’m ìn awe at their talent.
I can scale up from a photo by eye, but that’s just on canvas .. this is something unique and very special, and a whole different level of skill.

Like those artist who draw on pavements, making their art 3 D..
        Remarkable talent.

Which is why I enjoy your photos so much, as we not only see the beauty in their creations but the skill it takes to create them.
        Thank you. ✨️💕✨️

  8. Wow! This is one the most unique and interesting wall artworks I’ve seen! Such a great find. I have to admit I go from ohhh, how lovely to WTH? lol ! A wonderful work of art indeed.
    xoxoxoxo

    1. The house is …well was…. it’s probably torn down by now, a lot of fun.

There’s about 4 more posts to do, eventually.

      The young guitar player?

OMG! Fell in live don’t you know. Oliver Thompson – he was 19 in this video (2007). What talent… and I’m a fool for a good guitar player, so I married one. xoxo

  9. The shading in the face is quite delightful, Resa. Her skin looks beautiful, young and healthy. The piranha fish with the tongue gave me a turn and I’m only seeing it as a picture. A fabulous find.

    1. Thanks Robbie!
I like the face a lot as well. The artist has come a long way since the first face I ever saw of hers on a garage door.
This house was so groovy! It was a fun day!
That fish freaked me out. At least it’s colourful. დ

    1. It is a lot of fun.
You should paint your place. Just start with 1 room. If you don’t like it, just paint over it.
I’ll stay safe, Martha, if you do the same! xx

  10. I love this post, Resa.  I’m sorry to be so late, but truthfully, I wouldn’t have been in any “space” to enjoy it until now – and wow what a treat it is today!  Huge thanks for the video.  Watchtower has been one of my favorites for several years now. (Yes, I was late with that too, and no idea why it didn’t click with me during all the rest of the years.  I wasn’t familiar with Bryan Ferry and his cover of it rocks. Fabulous!

You did really well with the photos. I would never have known you were contending with poor lighting.  I think the face is my favorite, although I love the whimsy and colors of that crazy fish.  Anyway, I love that they used colors to show the play of light on her cheekbone and forehead.  Wishing you a splendid weekend.  Big hugs.

    1. Please, never worry about visits Teagan!

Watchtower is a terrific song. One of the aspects I adore about Dylan, Joni, Cohen, Baez and others is that they are poets as well as singers/musicians.

Ferry does a fab cover. My fave is Hendrix’s version.

The whimsy of the fish, yes, but it is a shock in the same room as the face. Still, I love street art in all its crazy forms.

You have a fab weekend, too & I’ll see you on your blog…this weekend!
      Big Hugs!!!!

  11. Another impressive art house. Not to mention Bryan Ferry. (Pushing 80 now… Only two years younger than Joplin… Fantastic art of yours too). The young guy (boy?) was what? 14? Is he Ferry’s son?

Thanks for a great “trip”, Resa…

    1. Brian..

Crazy how I need to catch up on comments sometimes. Sometimes the annotator gets too full, and cuts off at a certain point.

It’s also crazy who I find in Spam, time to time! (Not you this time, just saying we should check our Spam regularly)

      Anyway.. yes, impressive!

That young man (19 years old at the time) is Oliver Thompson. I don’t think he is Ferry’s son. I found him quite fetching on the guitar.

      Drawing Joplin was a gas.

      Thank you, Brian! ❦🌹🌟

      1. NO worry. The annotator does cut off. Annoying.
I check my Spam all the time. Once in a while a good friend ends there. Why? Who knows.
Well, Oliver Thompson was quite good. Kudos.
I can imagine the sensation of drawing Joplin. Seeing her emerge from the sketch… (Ok, a little bit of this, now change the hair a bit… that’s the right colour…)😉
‘Was thinking of you yesterday. I started to watch Halelujah on Cohen. You might have mentioned the documentary once… Just great. A deep insight into Lenny Cohen’ mind… (September Cohen… LOL)
        Be good Resa.🌹💕

        1. I was quite smitten with Oliver in that video.
          Yes, the documentary is fab.
Thank you for thinking of me, how lovely!
Just trying to get through the American election, and I’m Canadian!
          🌹💕🌹💕 -We both be good!

          1. Thank you for the good wishes. Likewise. Finished Halelujah last time… Cohen was a giant. Could the giant factory re-open? (I have a feeling that factory has filed Chapter 11.)
I live in Mexico, I’m French and I too am trying to get through the American election. At this rate I’ll soon won’t have nails.
            🤗💕

            1. Re-open?? Not likely.
Yes, Canada and Mexico will be in for it (it = whatever vengeance orange decides) if the shit head wins.
              Less than 1 month now.
it is excruciating… the lies, the recriminations, the fear stoking, the threats, and on and on.
Worse, so many sheeple just follow him. They are ignorant and blind, like the followers of Jim ones and Koresh.
              💓❦🌹

There is a fab docu on James Carville out right now – CNN
He’s the first one who called for Biden to step down…before that hideous debate.

I felt hopeful listening to him.
He’s been around a long time. He says the election is not as close as people think. It will break, but for who he’s not sure. 💓❦🌹

              1. I just looked at Google Trends. It’s a tool I’ve used fro market research with good results. Applied to the US elections, it has worked more or less. Generally shifting in the very last days. Right now, it’s not good. I’ll look Carville up.
                Merci beaucoup Resa.

                1. Merci…tambien!

Well, there are other sources. One who has correctly predicted the last 9 of 10 says Harris.

Remember – 2016 – The morning of the election day had Clinton winning 85%.
                  Trump 15%.
We all know what happened there.

    1. Hello Ada!

      Found this in my Spam!

I check every 10 days or so. Never know who will end up in there. It’s good to free our pals from Spam, as it can have negative ripple effects.

It’s probably because you are a new commenter, although you should have gone into an approval folder, not Spam!

I thank you, and the red fish thanks you! ❦
