April Showers I

April Showers painted 2 works, one on the outside of the Painted House and one on the inside.

This is the one on the outside.

I fell for it in a heartbeat.

Here she is in context with other art on the outside.

I won’t be able to post all of the art individually, but will reveal amap in the process.

        1. 🎨🤗
          I just love art!
I’ve become a fan of Redon. I never know of him, but because you use his art a lot now I do. I think he’s different, and somewhat special.

      1. Is it magic? Is it a secret form of creating the new society; a mix of breathing things? I wonder what I’d be? You have me thinking. A wonderful ‘blog’ per usual, TOF

  1. Nice one, even if I do feel a bit bizarre looking at it, like the bird, partially showned on the right, maybe I will come back to it and let it sink in 🙂

    1. It is street art at its finest.

I love this house. Yes, the bird with the human head. They are popping up here and there.

I’d like m head to have a cat body. Maybe someone will start drawing those?

Hey, When do life classes start?

Okay… draw and be well! xx

    1. Thunder,
      Thank you!
I still take pics of 95% of everything I find, but I’ve become fussy on what I post.
100’s of pieces are lingering in my photo files.

That’s okay… something for a cold winter’s day, or when I need an odd image for a tribute or other post…like Hallowe’en.

      xoxoxo

      1. Of course you do! Why wouldn’t you? And I understand completely. If I shared all the photos I take, you’d all throw me in the garbage!
        100’s? Only? 😉

There ya go. You never know when something you took weeks/months/years ago can come in handy.

        xoxoxo

        1. Well, I keep it to a minimum. right now 15.6G out of 100.
I actually don’t know how many pics that is.
Hardly any of people… just a few. It’s all art, gowns and cats.
          xoxoxo

          1. It is the santized version, my darling. The Dundonian one has a diff word for face which in other parts of the country if not the world is regarded as a swear word. I reminded myself that Dundonians use every cuss word as a non cuss one, in order to refrain from offending.

  2. Dear Meece, this is beautiful! I love this so much. It’s a day brightener and a thinker too. I love the lady with the crystalline tears falling from her eyes. The bright flower offsets the sadness of those tear. A wonderful photo shoot dear Resa. Pardon my late appearance. Thinking of you always. xoxoxoxoxoxo

    1. You are never late!
      Always thinking of you, too!
It is a wonderful piece. The entire house was a fab experience.
Crystalline tears… beautiful. Sounds like a poem.

So, I started Janis. The first eye I drew was too big, and I ended up with a drawing I wasn’t expecting.

I’m sending it after I answer a few more comments.

      Drawing her got me thinking.
      There were 2 Janises.

      1. There was the blues singer Janis. Looking at the old performance photos, you can see the pain (blues) twisting her face. She wasn’t worried about looks. It was all feeling.

As a matter of fact, she looks grotesque with pain in many of those pics.

The 2 that I sent you were some of the nicer ones, where the mic wan’t covering half her face.

I see another comment from you.
Will talk about Janis 2 in that reply!

      xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

      1. I agree that there were many pics of Janis when all her emotions were out there. Did you know that Janis was bullied in her home town for not being attractive , I think that really brought out the emotions in her singing. I agree the better pics should be used for sketching. It was almost a “ how do like me now” thumbing her nose at the small Texas town that made her adolescence miserable. can’t blame her at all.

        1. Yes!
She was amazing. I get shivers listening to her sing.
I just sent the first study.

I’m going to start another one with colour tonight and will listen to her music.

          xoxoxoxoxox

            1. Cool… I’ve decided on the pic I’m going by. Like my original inspiration, I’m doing B&W with colour.
I’m glad I studied her face for the few days I did. It’s going to help a lot!
              xoxoxoxoxo

              Ps. Sent the pic!

                1. I found the original one you sent. It is quite similar. I’m 100% sure they were taken on the same day. Same photo shoot…every item of clothing is the same…accessories, etc.
Difference is she is smiling in the one you sent.

The boas play a larger part in the one I sent.
Everyone loves Janis smiling. Fans want her to be happy, but she was a tortured soul.

I’m sending the original one you sent, yet another from the same day and the #1 most popular pic of Janis ever taken.

Many, many, many artists have used this pic.

I guess what I like about the one I sent is she is not smiling, but looks content… not smiling for the camera, but cool with herself.

                  xoxoxoxo

  3. Stunning with bright tears makes you really ponder all that goes on in an artist’s heart.. I have a client that is an artist and her are is so vivid and bright and her internal world so dark. love this💕

    1. Agree and interesting you say that, Cindy.

I’ve worked with many comedic actors, funny as funny can be when the camera is on them, but they can be quiet and sad in real life.

There is so much great art out there for us on WP alone. I love it.
      I especially adore the poetry.
      Be well! 💕💕

      1. It is a tell telling sign, actually and quite sad, really but perhaps color is what pulls them through.

The art is spectacular which brings passions to lift. I do as well.
Thanks and you stay well too❣️

    1. There is so much fab art on & in this house. I must have taken 200 pics.

I’ll be a cat with a human head….. I mean if we are going to mix breeds. LOL!

        1. Yeah! Lots of pics.
Now, I could have picked my body with a cat’s head, but I want to make sure I know I’m half cat.
Besides, I’ll get more pet and cuddles wit a cat’s body! xoxo

  4. Wow! That is fascinating. It shows that the painter used an intense feeling to create this work. All of her paintings are heart-touching! Thank you, dear Resa. I bet you want to share the other one inside the house in another post!!😉😅👍🌹💖

    1. Agree, a talented artist. There were around 30 artists involved in painting this house. The back yard is filled with doors and old furniture from inside, all painted.

I took a couple hundred pics. LOL
      😉😅👍🌹💖

    1. Agree about the art. She did another piece in the house, with flowers not tears.
You have a fab weekend, too, Lauren!
      WOW! Friday already. Sheesh! 💞🌷🤗

  5. Thank you for the introduction to April Showers, Resa. I am now following her on Instagram. Her creative spirit is exciting, energized and unique. There are hidden depths in this mural.

    1. Yay! I just love this piece.

I’m not on Instagram anymore. When META bought it they demanded my birthday to get back in.
Sure, I could lie, but that’s not the point.

  6. Stunning mural once again, Resa! And I love the crying lady with blue tears… so dramatic! I love the artist’s name, too, April Showers. Very cool!

  7. April showers are often a little less sad… lol, great art work! And, funny, though the rain starts with her tears, she doesn’t look super sad, she looks like she just “is”. Like the April rain.

Great little taste of the Painted House.

    1. Thanks Trent! I wish. this would become a “thing” in Toronto. People let artists go wild in the building before they tear it down.

I’m with you. She is crying, but somehow reserved from the emotion.
Lol, someone just pointed out there’s a hole in her head.

Anyway, So much to post, so little time.

      1. It is a cool idea and should be done everywhere.

She doesn’t look happy at all, and she does seem at least semi-present in the crying, but it is just something that is happening, not sad.

  8. Great choice to feature, Resa. It’s so evocative… hits me on many levels. It’s hard to look away. That house is a feast of details and colors.

The painting speaks to me of the sadness that is in the realization of emptiness. We’re taught not to truly think (by religions and culture), like the big hole in her head — and a spear of nothingness stabbed into the opening. A river of tears sparkles with the intuition of what might have been.

    Hugs.

    1. Terrific interpretation, Teagan.
I knew there was a hole in her head, but this comment made it register.
Yes, I find the spears fascinating. The spearheads are also diamonds.
For all its sadness, it is beautiful.
      Thank you & hugs!

      1. I expect the artist saw what felt like “spears” to me, as some kind of water, the way water can glitter like diamonds in the light. But it made me think of spears. Maybe like Stevie Ray Vaughan with “The Sky is Crying,” and she is catching the tears. 🙂

        1. Yes! And then… something else will get painted. I found a stunning mural in progress today. I can hardly wait for it to be finished.
The guy said in about a month.
          xoxo🤗💓

  9. This mural is so many things, and all of them just so happen to be right up my alley. Some pun intended. It’s dark, moody, sexy, mysterious, and yes, did I mention sexy?

    1. Pun taken..(took me a bit 🙄)

Yes you did, sexy! Hey, pardon for the late reply. I’m all over the place and can barely keep up with myself!
