Exterior

Round about the Painted House go!

In this 9th & last post showcasing The Painted House, we finish viewing the exterior. The east side begins with this gorgeous bird.

Then a cool head,

…..leads to a flower with an eye, then continues in Slide Show below.

I adore the Sunflower Woman.

Enter the backyard by Thistle Head, to find a floral back wall w/skeleton. Note the dog door on far left! This is the entrance to the house, and appeared in Kitchen segment.

The Backyard has its own post. Then we come around to the west side of the house, in Slide Show.

A painted walkway,

..leads us out the front gate. Bye, bye Painted House! You were a lot of fun.

  1. I also love the Sunflower Woman, and I love the 3D-looking thistle head! Thank you for sharing the Painted House, Resa! It’s such a cool idea, and I enjoyed seeing the posts about it.

    1. Thanks for checking out the Painted House posts, Merril! I’ll miss it, but there’s lots more new & old art sitting in the files.

Thistle head grew on me. It seemed an also run, but art is like that. It can slowly lure me in. Poetry, too!

I found this gorgeous Ukrainian mural. Long story, but I have to go back 1 more time. I did think of you when I would go there, over the last year while it was being painted.

      1. Ok I would go for sneaky, and of course a bird of prey, Eagle or some other kind I think ? they do not tend to look like a dove or tourterelle triste..mourning dove in english..:D Anyhow this was a great serie of posts, well the last, I guess we can always revisit…

        1. Oh yes, a bird of prey. It’s so colourful I forgot that detail. Lol!
You can revisit. I also have lots of cool art ahead.
Thank you so much for your visits, Jean Marc! xo

    1. Thank you, Dave!

It was an amazing piece of collective art to have visited. When I was inside the house, I had this cool feeling of being inside of the art… like being in the belly of art.

    1. Hello Martha!
Yes, the house was a lot of fun to visit and share. Now, I’ll find some other art, somewhere else.
Have a fab rest of your Sunday Martha, and a great week ahead! x

  2. Wow, the bird is amazing; the colors and the gleam in its eye really capture its character, amazing! Also love the flower with the eye; it’s like it’s looking back at you, watching you watching it. All are wonderful — thanks for sharing this amazing artwork with us! 🐦🎨💜💛💙

    1. The bird is crazy beautiful.
I adore the street artists. They come up with some cool things, like the flower with the eye.
Mother Nature is watching! Or/ Anyway, that’s what I get from it!

I’m going to miss this house, but there is so much other art in the photo files, and lots more “Making Her Mark” photos.
      🎨😁❦🌹🤍🕊

  3. Some great artwork. I had to go back and look at the April Showers post again.

The entire Painted House was fascinating. I think the idea is so great and wish more people would do it. Of course, street art being temporary is made even more fleeting here with a deadline when it will vanish forever, which I assume came and went months ago. Anyway, thanks for the series of art from this structure!

      1. Trent, you have caused me to look at the “Odd Guy” again.
Although I felt it could mean something, it threw me off with the necklace of heads, and that hole in its mouth.
I do see the guitar now, and I figured that staff could be something specific.

It is an Odd Guy art.

        1. The “hole” in his mouth is a yellow eye – the places where his eyes should be looks empty. The heads all look like the same person (woman?) And what is the smiling animal he is on, a cat? The style reminds me of Japanese “comic book” art. Maybe it is the corporate giant Sony Records and heads are the recording artists under contract…

          1. Hahahaha! The heads part is making me laugh. My N. had a few recording contracts back in the day, so you speak the truth.
The last company he signed with was Sony. They shelved his band/music/his head.

            What a business!
Going back to look at Odd Guy!

    1. April Showers impressed me right off. I have found more of her pieces, all female faces, around the city.
The white face on the side of the house is my fave so far.

Lol… “Doctor my eyes” I read “dreadline”. Yes, it must be gone. The new owners were planning to demolish and build anew.

Okay, lots of art in my files, and when I go out.
Thanks for checking out The Painted House, Trent!

      1. I think someone should make a film “The Painted House”. It would start with the empty house, and the house itself would have a voice, a voice of memories of the past inhabitants. And then it gets filled with art, and each mural has its own voice and its own story that indirectly ties back to the artist’s past and experience, a piece of the personality encoded in the paint. They create their own universe. And then one day, it is torn down and the voices silenced. lol, yeah, both morbid and silly, but in the hands of the right film maker it it could be great.

        1. What a great idea!
It could work great. There might need to be a protagonist tying it all together. IE: the person hired to demolish it? The opening scene could be – the person comes to assess the situation-

In the end the person doesn’t want to, but tears it down anyway…. money, politics, legalites.

          Whatever, I love your idea.

When I began collecting murals, I thought of a new age Twilight Zone – kind of thing.

We enter the mural, and live the story behind it!

          Thanks Trent! GREAT comment!

          1. An old family neighborhood is slowly being replaced with sterile McMansions. The builder enters the property to assess and has flashbacks to the meeting with a loveless/lifeless couple (“the yuppies”) who one and only desire is to stay with the latest trends for appearances. They bought the property with intention to rip the old house down and build their “dream” “McMansion” – a huge, lifeless hulk of excess. Building of the new mansion will start in three months. As the builder walks through the property and house he has little visions of life over the last century. At one point he takes out a sharpie and scrawls words on any close surface about the good and bad the house has seen in that time – if the walls could talk, he will write it down. -flash back to “yuppie” meeting- She: “Our currently places is awful, totally 2010.” He: “No, more 2008 and the Great recession, almost as bad as the Depressionville house we bought.” Builder: “That house is actually from a boom in the 1910s and is a marvel of the colonial revival style with…” He stops as the couple stares at him. -end flashback- He leaves totally depressed. Traffic is bad on his ride home, so he detours through a rougher section of town. He stops to admire some street art on a derelict building. Slow zoom into the art alternates with slow zoom onto his face as it lights up and he smiles.
Yep, I have the entire movie in my brain…

            1. Ahh, love it!
              Neat story, Trent.
Your brain is a good one! You could do anything you wanted to do!

Just heard a weird noise. Going to check! I think there’s ghosts in this 125 year old building.
I don’t mentioned it often, but we live in an old bank – Late Victorian – Edwardian era architecture.

              1. My house in New Hampshire seems the perfect place for ghosts but I never saw one or felt a presence. I am pretty sure we had one when we first moved into the house on the Cape. There were rooms the dogs refused to enter. I saw an object (thing on blinds to open and close them) hit Fiyero making him run away yelping. He had been sitting at the entrance to a room he wouldn’t enter, whining. I saged the house and the dogs were OK with every room and no more objects have swatted Fiyero.
                The old bank sounds cool!
Thanks re: story and the brain that created it. Maybe I will flesh it out more. The story, not the brain 😉

  4. I love that you have shared this wonderful painting extravaganza (I have to go back and catch up). Sunflower Woman is wonderful as is the, well, everything!

    1. Thunder,
I was a great late summer Sunday adventure visiting this house.
Inside, I felt this neat feeling, like I was in the Belly of art.

I hope there is another some day!
      xoxoxoxo

      1. No kidding, Sorceress. So glad you have shared it with us in all these posts.
It must have been amazing to be inside of it.

        I hope so, too!
        xoxoxoxo

  5. Looking at the, exterior, it makes me, intrigued to, want to, venture in, not knowing, what I might, find, that’s, bright and radiant in, colors. This property draws people in, with the, various grafitti on the, exterior…

    1. It sure did draw people in.
The kids loved it. Inside it felt like being inside an art funhouse.
Thank you for your visit and comment!

    1. OMG!
I caught the one in Erosion, (answered earlier) but missed the one in Design. I have read that one now.
My most sincere Thank You’s for the shout outs!
      ❦🤍🕊
The Eagle is my fave, too! It’s a beautiful and easy work of art to like.
The sidewalk is cool. I kind of felt like I was following a “Yellow Brick Road” in a way.

Thank you so much for considering me, Frank!💓

        1. Adore the bird!
Interesting that you say there is so much amazing art, Robbie.
I suddenly feel uber blessed to live in a country that produces so many artists that are creating wonderful art.
          Thank you!

    1. You’re welcome, Cheyenne!
I adore the rawness and passion of street artists, on top of their talent. No one gets paid on a project like this.
Thank you for checking out “The Painted House”!

  6. I’m sorry to see this series end. This house is full of fascinating stories!
I love that bird and backyard flower and skeleton.
    Hugs and love and slobberies!
    xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

    1. Me too, but there’s lots more art in the photo files!
The bird is brilliant, and I love it all.
      SLOBBERIES…and love and hugs!
      🧽🧽🧽🧽🧽🧽🧽🧽xxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

    1. Yes, the first 2 images, especially the bird are great.
The bird is showy, hard to miss. It was a perfect overture to the show.
Thanks for taking a look see, Brad!

    1. I know what you mean, Liz. The bird is brilliant, and was the perfect start to The Painted House. It was the first thing I saw when I got there.

  7. Beautiful in every way. The bird is amazing but the whole house is a lot of fun. Thank you for the trip inside and out. Sorry it’s over. Up did a fabulous job and I’m sure you enjoyed the shoot.

    1. Thanks Gi!

How did I mss this comment?

Anyway, yes, I enjoyed this experience a lot. This type of art is in my bones.

I mean, I adore/appreciate all art and all the arts (even if I don’t personally like a piece). Street art does something special to me. xoxoxo

  8. Wow! What incredible creativity – the artwork is fantastic and the eagle truly mesmerising! Now, think if every house was decorated in this way! A bit too much, perhaps? 😀Annika

    1. The eagle is fabulous!
The entire house is an ephemeral treasure. It was a wonderful experience.
If every house was like this, it would not be special anymore, and yes, too much!
      Resa 🎨💓

  9. Hi Resa, I don’t think there was a single inch of space not painted on with this house – just total awesome. I mean even the plants have been sort of painted, there were some toadstools hiding in the bushes in the last picture leading to the front gate!

  10. NOOOO… you can’t have come to the end. It is so epic and different and amazing. I’ve loved it. Your doimentation of it has been wonderful and uplifting to behold xxxx

    1. EGADS!!!

      I missed this comment. Wow!

Shey, this was a wonderful experience. I adore this style of art, and being inside a house full of it was like being inside the stomach of a giant art monster.

I’m so happy you were along for the tour! xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  11. Resa – a brilliant and profound photography collection. I am so glad that you captured this amazing “art project” for posterity. You have crystallized the energy of artists working in collaboration. Thank you!!

    1. Rebecca,

      Apologies for the tardy reply!

It seems I missed a lot of comments on this one. Also, the waning light and cloudy days make for one groggy Resa.

I am so happy you were along for the tour. The joy of all this art was invigorating.

At least the project is documented.

Thank you so much for being an arts friend!

      Hugs

      1. You are never tardy, Resa – you always arrive at the right time. As an aside, I am finding that comments are not appearing right away. So it’s either my eyesight or one of the WordPress mysteries. I love joining you on this tour. Your photographs are a witness to this amazing artistic celebration.

    1. It is quite the trip, thank you Jan! I like that piece, too.
If the skeleton was removed, it would make a great one wall motif in a kitchen. The rest of the walls pink….or turquoise. Although out here, the skeleton is very cool.

  12. Wow!! Thanks for a dose of color for my weekend viewing, Resa!! I too adore the Sunflower Woman and that colorful bird on the east side is indeed gorgeous 😍 There are so much to admire in this painted house, love the painted walkway too! All around a fantabulous post!!

    1. Yikes!

      Now I’m missing comments.

I don’t know about where you live, but here, by the lake it’s cloudy everyday, the lake is dark cold steel and the days are so short, I’m not sure if they happened.

So, YES, this colour is getting me through the week, too! It’s been a fabulous project.

I know you’re a busy person, and I thank you for taking the time for visiting and enjoying the art I offer! xx

      1. Hey no worries, Resa!! I always enjoy your posts and seeing fabulous art energizes your day!

Since it’s Thanksgiving here in the US, I just want to say I’m so GRATEFUL to have found a friend like you on the blogosphere!! Love ya! 🧡

    1. Welcome, Teagan!
It was fun to see it, and share. Art, especially street art, makes me happy. I love to share that happiness.
      🤍🎨 Hugs!

    2. Well, well, Seems I’ve lost track of comments and answered some in the wrong places.

Please excuse my inability to keep my comments in order, as I think I called you Teagan, Dave.

Thank you so much for the visit and enjoying the art, Dave!

I love it and I love sharing it!

      HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  13. Thank you so much for the comprehensive tour of the Painted House, Resa. That was amazingly creative and I enjoyed how eclectic all the artwork was. It made me want to invite taggers into my home! 🙂 🙂

    1. Lol! I know what you mean, Diana.
But hey, you have a mural of your own, and I have featured it with the street art in my September post which is part of the Painted House series.
      You’re “in” baby!

    1. Meece,

I can’t believe how I messed up comments on this post.

It’s from using that annotator on the right side top.

I can’t pick a fave, so I agree with you!

Yes, it’s a painted winter house!

      Love you! xoxoxoxoxo

        1. xoxoxo
          Was your Thanksgiving lovely?

Okay, just sent the mail with the update on Gloria. Still a fair bit to do. Hope you like it!
          🤞xoxoxoxo

                    1. I think the drawing is done.
Have been doing test shots. It’s dark, dark, dark here.
Snow tomorrow, and some sun on Monday.
Looking at sending you final pic choices Tuesday!
                      xoxoxox

  14. The Painted House is one of the best series going on WordPress, Resa. You are always supplying something special and this trip was no different.

That fiery bird is amazing. The colors! They pop! Pop! Pop! Or is it snap, crackle and POP!?

As for the ladies, cool, blue sexiness.

    What a walk! Again!

    1. Marc,

I missed this and about 10 other comments.

Apologies! It’s the short, dark and cold no day days. They turn me into l’idiot.

Thank you for your lovely words, Marc.

I do try to make this blog entertaining. Art to the heart!

      Okay,,,,, shower time! Yayayayay!

      MUAH!

      1. It’s so strange, this time of year. It gets dark early and five in the afternoon starts feeling like ten pm. Cold weather equals all kinds of nasty collabs, like sleet, ice and snow. So no . . it’s not idiocy, it’s Mother Nature just playing with our heads.

Your blog is you, which means to say lovely and brilliant and thought provoking.

        MUAH!

    1. I would preserve it, like Graffiti Alley.
The artists would come and go, paint over each others work, evolving art. It’s a wonderful thing.
No, the city is not involved. The artists painted for free.
The house was donated as a canvas, before it got torn down.
I’m happy I got to see and record it! xx

    1. It was my pleasure!
It’s one of those loves in life.
      You walk in nature.
I walk in alleys. (and once in a house)
      We both find beauty.
      xoxoxo

  15. You know what?. I feel sad!! That’s an excellent and unique art house, which has to become a museum of Mural art.
Thank you, my dear friend, for this fascinating magical tour.🙏💖🌻

    1. Thank you, Aladin!

Wow! I found The Magical Mystery Tour and shared it with you!

I’m thrilled you were able to visit and enjoy.

(I think I lost some time after the election, and am just recovering)

      xo🤍🕊🌹xo

      🥬stay healthy!🥦

  16. Wow Resa.. This house just keeps on Giving and GIVING…. Each photo is of every piece you have shown is a master piece in its own right.. The Bird is magnificent.
And when I looked at the side of the house, even the drainpipes blend into the images..
Thank you so very much Resa, I have so enjoyed this series and all of your excellent photos…
Sending Love your way xx ❤

    1. Much like a good book, it’s sad to see it come to an end. I’ll just have to find more art.
Thank you for coming ’round to check it out, Sue!
      Love flowing back! xoxox
