“Eyes Without a Face”

It’s an old Billy Idol song.

His message is clear, yet living in an bohemian arts community at the time,

I thought “face without eyes” was more it.

Some died. Some just faded away.

Yes, I actually just went into someone’s yard and took these. I saw it from the street and couldn’t control myself.

    1. Yes, it is. I found it 10 months ago. Wasn’t sure what to do with it. I heard on the radio that since Dec. 21, we’ve had 30 hours of sunlight in Toronto.
No wonder I posted it! 😵‍💫

    1. Thanks Jan!
Well, I figured if they came out to see what I was doing, they’d see I was taking pics. I’d rave about their art. Usually they love that, being proud of their art.
Still, there have been some odd happenings. EEEK!

  1. Resa, a mural like that is just asking to be photographed even if it involves going into someone’s yard! It’s mesmerising but in a rather spooky way – and I think the image is now engraved on my mind! 😀

    1. Blank eyes are mesmerizing in art. A lot of statues have blank eyes.
I figure they had it painted on their garage, and must be proud of it. So, they would be cool with someone taking pics.
If someone came out, I would be super polite, and rave about their art. Thank you, Anita! 😊

    1. It is a bit scary, but it’s art and it’s out there, so Im taking pics! Lol.
      Boo! 😳 Just kidding.
You have a great weekend too, dear Martha!

  2. Sometimes you just have to, Resa. It’s for the art! For the art! LOL

Those eyes are HAUNTING and melodic and piercing and the stories they tell! And the ones they hide . . . .

    As for your trespassing?

    Worth it!

    MUAH!

    1. It’s about the eyes for sure!
You say haunting, some say scary, some creepy, arty, and on.

      I feel so… gangstah!
      Well, maybe more like.. trespassah.
      Fotografah.
At any rate I feel cool!

      MUAH!!!!

      1. I was going to say they were Bette Davis Eyes but I don’t want to cross Billy Idol. Can’t have two eighties classics crashing into each other. LOL

I say there is no wrong answer.

You ARE gangstah! The loveliest gangstah!

        You’re plenty cool Resa.

        MUAH!!!!

    1. I’m not sure on the message, but it made me think of someone addicted to hard drugs.
      OR..no soul…
A perfect moody post for me today from the city with 30 hours of sun since Dec. 21.
Sigh. However, my blog pals are sunshine, especially, especially you dear Meece!
      xoxo🐭💎🐭xoxo

      1. Hahaha, that’s exactly what I was thinking about the No eyes 👀 lady message. I actually thought about the trumpers… no eyes or ears or brains .
I wish I could literally send you some sunshine. Such a dark time !
        ☀️☀️☀️🐭🐭☀️☀️🍌
        The bananas just for kicks.
        xoxoxo

    1. xy… there’s more, I think a Z. I see it on other street art. It could be other artist(s) who help out a main artist…like a crew. The XYZ Crew… There’s the DOH Crew.. and others.
      Me&U a crew! Lol…
Did a Fay drawing…almost finished. Norm LOVEs it. BUT it doesn’t capture Fay right. I see what’s off, and will do another.
When I did other ones, they took a few goes. Only the Jim Morrison one happened right off in 1 go.
The Puppets attacking is almost finished. I’m working on that tonight. So far so good. It’s quite hilarious!
      So dark here.
      Love ya! xoxoxo

    1. Thanks, Diana!
Yeah, our eyes are our windows.
Statues with blank eyes are fascinating.
I found this 10 months ago. Finally today, I was moved to post it.
Must be the overarching darkness in the daytime, here. Hugs!

Strange an interesting face. There’s a lot going on in the mural. It’s difficult to take my eyes off of it.

    1. Janet!
Many think blank eyes are creepy.

Yeah… I just had to have this painting. I don’t know what comes over me. It’s not like I’m a kid, I’m more than a mature adult (usually).
I’ve climbed private fire escapes, gone under electric wires on a roof, squeezed through large cracks in fences, climbed fences, entered industrial areas when seemingly locked gates suddenly swing open, climbed through private property shrubbery in deep snow, ruined brand new white sneakers walking in ankle deep mud, pretended I was in the market to buy a house so I could get the sales tour and get on a balcony to take pics of a roof wall across the alley, stood in pouring rain, timed street lights and ran into the middle of a road over and over until I got all the shots I needed, gone up high in a scissor lift, and as in this case…trespassed. – all with the best of intentions at heart.

        1. Yay!!! Im glad you had a laugh!
Bill says that because we both want to capture our photographic agendas.
I won’t drive. I can, but I hate it. You drive over half of the USA to get your shots.
We both do what it takes. 😍🤣😍

  4. This is spooky cool, Sorceress! No eyes always gives me a shudder at first glimpse. And way to go you wild thing, going into someone’s yard to capture it.

  5. Well Resa there is nothing wrong with your eyes…you can pick out a mural from a mile away (probably further). I noticed that the face has eyes but they seem to have “clouded over” rather than not having them in the first place – maybe it is a warning to us not to become blind to our situations and be more mindful.
Anyway another great mural and choice of song (and can you believe how good Billy still is? He’s still rockin’ today!)

    1. Billy stand the test of time. He had his moment, and now it’s classic!
Your “clouded over” interpretation is terrific.
Crazy, this piece is getting a lot of interpretations. I love it!

  6. Although here, something seems missing, yet that is also what a shadow is, and a shadow is all things possible waiting yet to be. And there’s a truth not that all commonly known, nothing ain’t nothing, not at all. Always Rest, thank you for seeing.

  7. Modigliani said “When I know your soul, I will paint your eyes”. Face without Eyes is an amazing mural, dahling and I feel guilty saying that I’m glad you couldn’t control yourself! 😉
    ps. oh, I remember Billy!
    xoxoxo
    and wait…
    🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘🐾❤️😘

    1. Me too! It was exciting and still is. I can’t just walk by when there’s perfectly cool art to be captured.
Ahh, Billy! He had a great moment

    1. Thanks, Frank! Yeah, I’ve had this one for awhile, and was just waiting for the time to post it.
With only 30 hours of sunlight since Dec. 21, the time had come.

    1. Lol! I say he did that on purpose. It’s a statement. There are many interpretations, for sure.
Yours is as valid as any! 💓🌟🎨

  8. please be very careful. cover up well. and apply plenty of SPF50. no point taking any chances with all solar luminous flux.

    1. Perhaps they do.
Still, it’s interesting how many people do not see wall art when they walk by it.
Happy & I saw it, and now you did too!
Have a fab week ahead, Miriam!

    1. Yes, many think it’s creepy. Still, I had to shoot and share it.
I know… Billy is young. Released in 1983, that means it’s 40 years old…Oh my!!!!
I do like Billy’s songs. He had a fab moment!

    1. I agree, Lauren. It’s a statement for sure. There are many guesses here today.
Yeah, I’ll be careful. Sometimes, I get carried away, but I’m careful.
      Hugs!! 💖🪷💖

    1. There’s usually something blocking street art.
The empty eyes are always a question mark from the artist.
      Thanks for popping by, Isadora!

        1. Yeah… I don’t climb on car hoods. I just do my best. Often there is something else to climb on.
There’s a Thunderbird I have to go back for. The SUV (really? In today’s age, a big ass gas guzzler.. or even hybrid .. electricity guzzler) was so close to the wall, I can’t believe it wasn’t scraped.
OH… Musk says the first human has received Neuralink brain implant. Why are we giving ourselves to the rich and the machines?

          1. I have found the new wide-angle feature on my (brand new) Iphone 12 to be very good when there’s little room, or cars or trees, or whatever stands in the way of art…
Why? Why? Maybe because many humans are afraid of freedom? A former Mayor of Rotterdam once said something about that…

              1. Many are. It’s so easy to have others make decisions for you: priests, bureaucrats, anyone in power. So many are content with… following (orders) established routines.
So few are not afraid of making choices. Even if that means failing from time to time. (At least you’ve tried…)
Believe me, I see it over and and over again… Sigh.
