The Bluest Blues

A young Buddy Guy.

Wonder why his guitar looks like he’s playing left handed?

Dexter Gordon

Donnie Walsh from “Downchild Blues Band” on harmonica.

Background ghost musicians.

This amazing mural is on Grossman’s Tavern in Toronto.

Grossman’s is almost kitty corner from the El Mocambo, made famous by The Rolling Stones in 1977.

Grossman’s – since 1943.

I lived 1 block up the street, for 15 years. Many stories, but that’s for when I get a porch & a rocking chair.

I thought it said “Welcome”.

A month earlier I had driven by, and this mural graced a parking lot.

I finally had time to go back and capture this massive and fabulous mural.

When I got there, it was about to break ground to become a high rise.

I thought 2 things. 1- The mural will be blocked from view.

2- Where do all those cars I saw park now? I mean, there’s nowhere to park in the city.

Yay!! I found a small gap in the chain link fence, just enough to squeeze through.

I didn’t have to climb!

Here are some close ups of details.

I found this on another Day.

Nowhere on the sign did it say “No Trespassing”!

Dog Love

This mural is on a wall that runs along a small parkette, where many people take their dogs. This gorgeous Doberman is near the end of about 200 feet of wall.

So, let me start at the beginning, of what is titled “Green Space For All”. I will keep the art in order as we move along the wall.

Between the dogs are colourful burners (aka writing, lettering).

A panorama shot of a section.

More panorama.

Honestly, I only recognize the Doberman and Dalmatians. If you recognize any other breed, let me know!

Click on Lauren Scott’s poem “Copper Boy”and find her book “Ever So Gently” on Amazon.

Occasionally there are 2 burners in a row.

Gorgeous dogs!

My dear friend John Howell’s Twiggy has had a big operation. I send them a herd of OXen.

Marina – Art Towards a Happy Day has a beautiful dog named Hera. Hera is part Pitbull, and is loveable. Each year, Marina shares information and misinformation about the breed.

To all who have dogs, please give your doggie a pet or a kiss from me. They won’t know it’s from me, but they will still like it!

Further Together

Or as I call it, International Geese.

When I first saw it I gasped, and thought they were all patterned Canada Geese. I thought of Merril and Tim as I’ve seen many Canada Geese on their blogs.

Okay all geese are not Canada Geese, but all geese are geese (be they a goose or a gander). There are 17 fabric patterns from 17 different cultures in this mural. Before I looked at the legend, I found 14.

Although I found 14 geese, I didn’t know what fabric pattern came from where. I had to use the legend. Here are the 14 I found.

It’s a hectic mural. I presented best I could. There is a bit of goose overlap.

But where where those last 3 geese? I had to use the legend, again. I’m thinking the last 3 are not geese, but rather the shores of the Mississaugas. You can read about it after the last 3 patterns.

Two Women on a Wall – A Tapestry

The day was a washout. I’d been all the way to Kensington Market, and only captured a raccoon …… on my camera.

Almost home, I espied an “Anser” bit on a garage door, so got off the streetcar. I walked down a lane off that alley, then turned into another alley and Voilà!

What luck!

As fortune wold have it, there was a clean shiny black car parked there.

Because of the brick, the reflection of the painting took on a “Tapestry” look.

Graffiti Alley is changing.

Old buildings are being torn down. New ones are going up.

Still, it seems to be embracing street art, but will the hardcore graffiti disappear?

This En Masse mural is in the parking entrance to a new building.

Above, a Poser Bunny welcomes us. Poser’s Bunnies go way back, and are an old fave of mine.

Lots to cover in this one. Here are some of my faves.

The ceiling is a work of craziness.

I put the rest in a slideshow for my hardcore street art pals.
