April Showers in August

Actually this was found in October last year, but it’s August now.

April Showers paints on the oldest walls, corners, back alley doorways, crooked corner bits and other spots that need her beauty.

I’ve got a collection gathering, but this seems it should be on its own.

I adore her work, and no matter how dark the doorway,

or how crumbly the wall, her art makes it a lot better.

I hope to meet her one day, so I can thank her!

  1. Definitely eye-catching! Those eyeball flowers are kind of creepy. She seems like some sort of witch/astrologer/powerful woman. What is that chain hanging out of her face? It’s visceral.

    1. I know!
Those eyeball flowers appear with a lot of her street art, but not all. I’ve gotten used to them, Merril. I’m sure they are a message from the artist.
The chain? I love it. I’m 99% sure it was already there from some previous purpose and she just utilized it.
Still, one never knows about art and artists.

  2. April Showers deserves all her flowers for this beauty. And you are spot on, she is definitely a solo act, a keeper. I love how there are no ordinary walks for you. Each and every time out brings something unique and this . . well this is all that and then some more.

This mural hits us where it counts. A Goddess who protects us from the negative energy this world has way too much of right now. Bless her and keep her close. And now we can!

    Brava!

    1. You are right…no such thing as an ordinary walk.
What would I do on an ordinary walk?
I want to walk now, and find more goddesses, but it’s 110F today in the shade.

      Thank you, Marc!

      1. There never is. Especially for artists such as yourself who are always on the lookout for something special.

        Hmmmm, go to the pharmacy?

Methinks even the Goddesses are taking a break from the heat and staying inside to soak up all that AC comfort.

        Thank U!

    1. Agree! The wall was crumbling and ugly .
      Now it’s crumbling and lovely.
“The Clue in the Crumbling Wall” was my fave Nancy Drew story!

    1. I agree, Brad! I Love the eyes and lips. The wall it’s painted on is crumbling away. I found this when it was freshly painted. Thank goodness, as I went by a few days ago and it has crumbled even more. 😍

    1. You’re welcome, Cheyenne!
I’m sure I’ll find more for the folder. There’s another one I found that could be its own post… She did a “Day Of The Dead” thing with the face. Very cool!

  4. There’s something magnetic about these faces — bold, unblinking, painted like they’ve stepped straight out of a dream and onto the street. The colors burn against the concrete, the eyes follow you, and every detail feels like it’s guarding a story you’re not quite meant to hear. They’re more than murals — they’re sentinels, holding their ground in a world that keeps moving past, daring you to stop and really see them.

If you enjoy uncovering the art, grit, and hidden stories in our streets, you’ll find plenty more to explore at Chameleon News — a space where sharp eyes and sharper words meet.

    1. Thank your for visit, Chameleon!

I do adore this work and your comment is fabulous.
I will definitely pop over for a visit! (with a sharp eye!)

    1. Agree! I think it’s great to have something lovely to look at on a crumbling wall.

You are right, Trent! Last year, when I did the series on “The Painted House”, she had one painting on the outside, and one inside , in a squishy bathroom.

I like the chain. Yes, it adds a definite intrigue.

(The JL post will be ready for proofing soon!)

    1. I agree! It’s crazy how cool that chain is.
It’s wonderful to see April’s faces when walking down an old alley!
You be well, too, Martha! 😍

  5. Thank you to April Showers — and thank you, Resa for all the wonderful murals you find and generously share. I love this one. It reminds me of early 1980s anime — especially with the eyeball flowers! It’s colorful, beautiful, whimsical, otherworldly, and fun. Hugs.

    1. You are so welcome, Teagan!
Finding the art is fun because I get to share it.
1980’s anime…? Like Sailor Moon? Would she be an anime?

I do like this a lot.
      HUGS!

      1. Sailor Moon would certainly be an anime, but I was thinking along the lines of some of the sci-fi movie-length films — the style of her face and the design on her forehead makes me think of some of them. That was so long ago, that I don’t remember the stories or the names. LOL, I actually went down a rabbit hole looking, and none of them rang a bell. It’s more about the style of drawing. Although I do remember watching The Last Unicorn, and her face is similar to what’s in my head. Hugs back.

        1. That’s a lovely animation, thank you Teagan.
I hope it was an interesting rabbit hole!
Oddly, I have found several anime street arts. I will do an anime post one day.
          HUGS!

  6. You’re so right, dahlin, this is so beautiful and I love how she used that wall to her advantage! Brilliant work! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

….from Hera: slobberies! lots of them! xoxoxoxoxoxo

    1. I agree! It’s so great to see this art instead of a crumbling wall!
      Hera!!! xoxoxo🧽🧽🧽🧽🧽🧽
      xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
PS – Got your mail… be aware and careful of the fires!

    1. Agree! I hope I get to meet her, too.
I wander the alleys a lot, and have met a fair number of artists. So, it is quite possible.

    1. It’s true! I have collected so many pics of art, I never know what to show next.
I’m so happy you visit! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  7. Ooohhh, another blue-colored beauty with striking eyes!! I love this, Resa, I used to like to draw as a kid, and I love drawing eyes with big lashes like this one. I hope you meet the artist one day too, and you can thank her from me as well for brightening my day with gorgeous art. Thanks for sharing, as always! XOXO

    1. Yeah, I love big eyes and big lashes. Sophia in “The Penguin” looks like that.

Lol, if I ever meet her (not out of the question) I will tell her that her art has won the thanks of someone from Minneapolis.
      Interesting how art gets around.
      XOXOXO

    1. Thanks Lauren, it is a wonderful find.
The artist has her own style, and it sure brightens up a crumbling alley.
      💙💙❦❦❦💙💙

    1. I adore this to, Ada. Yes, the flowers and colours brighten up the alley. I’m thrilled you adore street art and come for visits.
      Have the best week ahead!
      🌟❦🌹❦🌟

    1. I agree. Many think the eyes are disturbing. Maybe, then that means something.
Thanks for checking out the art and for your comment, Jo!

  8. Another fabulous find! Though I agree the eyeball flowers are a tad disconcerting. She, however, is beautiful. Thank you for the share, Sorceress!

    1. Yayay!
Thunder, yes, “The Eye See You” flowers are .. odd. I’m sure she means something by them…. Nature is watching us!

      1. I do like that idea of Nature watching us… she best because we are doing our best to bugger things up!
        xoxoxoxo 🧚🪄 xoxoxoxo

  9. I can see why you like April Shower’s murals – and in this one, I like how the flowers seems to have eyes and there is so much harmony – with all that electric blue

  10. I agree Resa. I love April Showers art. I’m naturally attracted to anything with moon, sun and stars paintings. And the colours accentuate the tone beautifully. Hugs 💜💚❌⭕❌

    1. Ah, thank you, Meeka!
I walk, and walk, and walk… and walk.
It’s on my walks through alleys and odd areas that I find these pieces. Some of the poorest and/or oldest areas have much of the best.

        1. Thank you, Meeka!
          I am aware.
I dress down and carry a broken down purse, no credit cards and just my phone and a few dollars.
I look like I could almost be homeless.
          I don’t go at night.

            1. Others have said that, but I love having a bit of excitement in my life.
LOL, it’s not much excitement, but keeps my blood circulating!

    1. Yes, I agree. Thank you!
I read your poem, Charlie. I tried t find the meaning of the across! 😉😉

Ps, Do you get the comments I leave on the Youtube shows?

  11. This is spectacular, Resa and I hope you meet her too so she can thank you as well for highlighting her! Fabulous work with lovely details and a hopeful, peaceful expression that embodies her!
Thank you for sharing April Showers!
    💓

    1. My pleasure Cindy!
There is so much fab art out there, and now that the temps are cooling off, I intend to go find more.Thank you for popping by, and your lovely comment!
      xoxo

  12. How interesting that she paints on old, crumbly walls, Resa. When you finally meet her, ask her about that. 🙂 This is beautiful.

I’m catching up! I can’t believe how far behind I was on your posts. What fun.

    1. No worries! I’m the Queen of Catching Up!

I hope you’ve been enjoying your time, whatever you are up to. Did you tackle that mural you were thinking about?
