A Wall of a Party

On the drive home from Dog Fountain, the corner of an eye caught colour.

I returned on a rainy Sunday to find it.

A huge mural awaited me, and a massive party.

A club had taken over at least 2 monster parking lots. They painted the cement floor in colourful swirls and had a mural painted on the club’s building’s wall.

The wall is a cross block long. I had only 1 vantage point. The far end of the mural is barely discernible.

Okay, back to specific pieces, like the sweet deer.

IMO, the closest part was painted by Shalak. The further away part is painted by her husband, Smoky.

The bird intros the Smoky part.

Anyway, the entire time I was shooting, there was a loud happy party going on. The space was caged in. To sit on this uber patio, you had to go through the club, and pay a cover, or show an invitation to the function.

An at least 6 foot fence wrapped the entire (Smoky) back area.

You can see I was standing on the street outside of low railing.

There were about 200 hundred young people partying in the centre of the patio. They had a wild female DJ. It was uproarious. If it hadn’t been raining, I’m sure there would be party goers rail side.

I bet on a nice night, the patio could hold up to 1,000 people.I thought of taking a pic of the partiers, but that felt voyeuristic. I’m about capturing the art.

    1. It’s wonderful that they painted the cement.
I’m lucky I went on a rainy day! Otherwise, there would have been people sitting at the railing.
I would not have stayed to take photos. πŸ˜€

  1. This is incredible! It’s so beautiful and compelling I think I would have to join in on this party paradise. The colors, the subject, the ethereal deer and gorgeous face beneath petals of flowers in the most amazing colors. It’s breathtaking. A spectacular find and great photography Resa. Well done dahling! xoxoxo

    1. Omg!
Dahling Holly.. I thought of calling this “Resa & Holly go to a Party”.
Never mind! I’ll find a mural for us one day.
I know… the whole deer part is meaningful & enchanting.

      1. It’s a paradise if colors and flowers and wild animals and faces , sort of like a 1970’s party …wink wink. Dig out your gogo boots and put a flower in your hair ! πŸŒΌβ˜―οΈπŸ‘’πŸ‘’πŸ¦ŒπŸŒΈπŸŒŸβ›Έβ›ΈπŸ˜ŽπŸŽΆπŸŒ»πŸŒΈ

🎼 If you’re going to San Francisco, Be sure to put some flour in your hair 🎼
          Might work!
Meece, you make me think of the craziest things! Love ya!

This mural is a real beauty!

          1. I heard it’s Thanksgiving Day up north. Have a wonderful day and eat some pie for me. My husbands screen saver is a pic of me covered in flour while baking a pie. I’m not kidding ❀️

            1. You too! ❀
I knew I was onto something with the flour in our hair!
Yes, 'tis Thanksgiving day up here on Monday.
Thank you for the well wish. We're going to a small family thing…5 people, all vaccinated.
I'm a bit nervous, but I haven't been into that area for awhile, so I might spot some new art. Lol!
I'd return on a later date.

    1. Yeah…
These artists know how to paint on a large scale.
      They are globally renown.
      Shalak paints wonderful wild cats.
There’s many examples of her art on GLAM.

  3. Hi there Resa, yet another another awesome artwork. In the first picture you post I can see a “Rubin’s Vase” type of optical illusion where the innermost eyes and outline created by the shape of the two noses seem to form the head and face of an “alien” creature. But then the remainder of this mural seems rooted to Earth bound nature so I might just be imagining things.
Regarding little alien creatures, I think you will like my post this weekend, I’m revealing my new little alien friend! Thanks again for another gem of a find.

    1. Tyeth,
It might be your imagination… or not. Whether or not doesn’t matter.
I adore your imagination. Imagine away!
      Looking forward to your post!

    1. I was not disappointed when I got there!
Thank goodness I went on a rainy Sunday. If it had been a lovely day, the patio would have been full, people sitting at the railing. I would have left, and returned another time.
That mural is enough of a party for me!

  4. Oh, I love this mural and as you zoomed out it got better and better with the cherry -imho- being the one with the painted floor and rain puddles reflecting more color. WOW! Needless to say that deer is precious (okay, and bear and eagle). A party of colors!!!!

    1. Definitely a party of colours!
In spite of the mural being a party unto itself, there is a heavy push to regard nature as the party.
As I watched the young people yelling, dancing, drinking…yes, having fun (exhausting to me now)
I could see no one was admiring the art. It seemed to be taken for granted, in the sense that this was just a massive colourful playground for them.
I do believe Covid has been hard for young people, whose hormones are raging.
I’ve met these artists. All of their work is rooted in nature and humanity. I’m a huge fan!
      Love ya, dahling!!!

        1. Agree! βπŸ’šπŸ’›πŸŒ»πŸ’›πŸ’šβ
I’ll get to the postal store this week, and get a proper package to mail the cards & “a surprise” in.
          xoxoxoxoxo

  5. What a colorful and fun mural to brighten up that wall and patio! I wonder if the woman is someone the artists know?
I’m not a big party and loud music fan, but it would be fun to sit there — or dance. πŸ˜€

  6. Resa, this is explosive. Thanks for finding and sharing it. I love the mirror image or palindromic twin women with faces together. Their eyes draw yours in. By the way, I just wrote about the “Immersive Van Gogh” exhibit which we saw for a second time yesterday. The word explosive can be used there. If you have not seen, I encourage all to take it in.

    Well done, my friend. Keith

    1. It was the faces I first spotted from blocks away. I was going by in a car. I knew I had to return one day. That day was about a week later.
I’ll check out your post on the Van Gogh exhibit. It might still be here. I’ll have to check.
      This is a spectacular mural!

    1. Yes, they are outdoors, so they are ephemeral. This is why I keep taking pictures.
I have posted 1,400 pieces of street art on this blog.
I will gladly donate them all one day, today, even. The question is where?
I suppose I could archive the blog. ❀
Thank you for popping by, Michel!

    1. TA!
It was great to be there, esp. on a rainy day. It kept the Covid down.
I am a lot better at capturing street art now, than when I started. Back then I would have taken 300 shots to get 12. Now I shoot 30 to get 15!

  7. Hi gorgeous, love this!!! I wanted to pop by and say I have not forgotten you gorgeous lady!!!
I just had lots of intense issues going on with health and other stuff, so blogging had to take a back seat. Wanted to send you lots of love and appreciation through! Big hugs lovely soul ❀️❀️❀️❀️
